The reported cases of animals exposed to poisonous plants and mushrooms could represent only a fraction of the actual exposures. Since most reported cases involved taxa that could not be identified to species level, more attention should be paid in case reporting and in animal poisoning prevention, engaging the public to enable people to recognise potentially hazardous plants and reduce the risk of poisoning in animals.

Features of animal poisoning in South Africa were similar to those in other countries. The reported cases of animals exposed to poisonous plants and mushrooms could represent only a fraction of the actual exposures. Since most reported cases involved taxa that could not be identified to species level, more attention should be paid in case reporting and in animal poisoning prevention, engaging the public to enable people to recognise potentially hazardous plants and reduce the risk of poisoning in animals.Clear cell sarcoma (CCS) affects the deep soft tissues in young adults and is known to have high rates of metastasis, including lymphatic metastasis. In our previous study an xenoplant model of CCS was established, which exhibited local tumor growth, lymphatic metastasis, and distant metastasis in SCID-Beige mice. In the current study, the role of NK cells during metastasis in the same xenoplant murine model was investigated. Injection of murine or human NK cells significantly suppressed the metastasis of HS-MM CCS cells in SCID-Beige mice. Notably, reverse transcription-quantitative PCR analysis demonstrated that injection of NK cells did not alter the mRNA expression levels of ERSR1-ATF1, which is specifically transcribed in CCS, in the buffy coat of circulating blood cells of HS-MM-xenoplanted SCID-Beige mice. BALB/c nude mice xenoplanted with HS-MM cells exhibited local growth without evident metastasis, whereas inoculation with the anti-asialo-GM1 antibody, which has previously been found to abolish NK-cell activity, resulted in metastasis of HS-MM cells in BALB/c nude mice. The injection of the anti-CD96 antibody, which increases the cytotoxicity of NK cells, significantly suppressed the metastasis of HS-MM cells in SCID-Beige mice. These results indicated that NK cells impaired the metastatic tumor microenvironments in the present mice xenoplant model. The objective of the present study was to analyze the prognostic relevance of pretreatment serum CA125 ≥500 U/ml and its role as a non-invasive factor for estimating optimal cytoreduction (≤1 cm) in primary serous ovarian cancer. Clinicopathological parameters and CA125 levels prior to primary cytoreductive surgery were retrospectively evaluated in all 261 consecutive patients with primary epithelial ovarian cancer from a single centre. Inclusion criteria were existing preoperative CA125 level, serous ovarian cancer and performed full primary treatment (surgery/platinum-based chemotherapy). A total of 136 patients met the criteria. Among them, 74 patients had CA125 ≥500 U/ml. The other 62 patients that met the aforementioned criteria and had CA125 1,404 U/ml had a higher rate of suboptimal cytoreduction (32.4%) compared with lower CA125 levels. A pretreatment CA125 level ≥500 U/ml had significantly worse prognostic impact after optimal cytoreduction compared with CA125 less then 500 U/ml. The higher the CA125 level the higher the suboptimal cytoreduction rate. Patients with CA125 ≥500 U/ml may be candidates for an initial laparoscopic approach to specify resectability and to determine how to proceed. Overall, CA125 levels appear to be helpful in predicting suboptimal cytoreductive surgery for patients with primary ovarian cancer, but should be interpreted together with clinical and radiologic findings. This may improve defining the optimal treatment strategy in these patients.Dendritic fibromyxolipoma (DFML) is a rare variant of spindle cell lipoma. It is characterized by extensive myxoid change and the presence of stellate cells with dendritic processes. The present study reports three cases of DFML that arose from the limbs and thoracic cavity. Pathologically, the tumor was composed of mature adipocytes admixing with patch spindle cells in a myxoid stroma. The cell atypia was not apparent and mitotic figures were rare. Immunohistochemistry revealed that the spindle cells were strongly positive for CD34. The three patients demonstrated no significant issues during a two-year's follow-up without evidence of recurrence and metastasis. The current study additionally reviewed all reported DFML cases in the PubMed database and Chinese journals.Intimal sarcoma of the pulmonary artery (PAIS) is a rare disease with a poor prognosis. Pazopanib, which has been indicated in metastatic non-adipocytic soft-tissue sarcomas and is expected to be active in PAIS, is a multi-kinase inhibitor that targets the tyrosine kinase activity of vascular endothelial growth factor receptor (VEGFR), platelet-derived growth factor receptor (PDGFR) and stem cell factor receptor. The present study reports findings related to two cases of PAIS with PDGF and VEGF expression following treatment with pazopanib. this website A case with a moderate to strong expression of PDGFR-α and -β presented a long-term stable disease when treated with pazopanib (progression-free survival, 5.8 months). In a second case with a weak expression of PDGFR-α and -β, the disease progressed rapidly on pazopanib (progression-free survival, 1.1 months). VEGFR-2 was not expressed in the tumors of both cases. The level of PDGFR expression in the tumor tissue may therefore be predictive of pazopanib efficacy.Gut microbiota produce and modulate the production of neurotransmitters which have been implicated in mental disorders. Neurotransmitters may act as 'matchmaker' between gut microbiota imbalance and mental disorders. Most of the relevant research effort goes into the relationship between gut microbiota and neurotransmitters and the other between neurotransmitters and mental disorders, while few studies collect and analyze the dispersed research results in systematic ways. We therefore gather the dispersed results that in the existing studies into a structured knowledge base for identifying and predicting the potential relationships between gut microbiota and mental disorders. In this study, we propose to construct a gut microbiota knowledge graph for mental disorder, which named as MiKG4MD. It is extendable by linking to future ontologies by just adding new relationships between existing information and new entities. This extendibility is emphasized for the integration with existing popular ontologies/terminologies, e.
