Thyroid nodules are common in clinical practice, and it is important to distinguish benign nodules, the vast majority, from malignant ones. Non-diagnostic (ND) samples have the potential to delay or mis-diagnose or lead to unnecessary surgeries, and it is important to examine what factors influence the ND rate. Prior literature has suggested that the impact of bedside cytology on ND rate is dependent on the initial adequacy rate, whereby higher ND rates benefit most from bedside cytology. We aim to compare the impact of bedside adequacy review between specialist groups who perform high volume thyroid biopsies with low initial ND rates.

We reviewed the cytopathology results of 1975 thyroid nodule FNAs performed between January 1, 2017 to December 31, 2017in a multi-centre Canadian city, and the corresponding histopathology reports of 340 resected nodules. Descriptive variables were used to describe the data along with chi-squared testing and univariate logistic regression.

Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) is one of the most prevalent and inflammation-associated cancers. The tumor microenvironment (TME) plays an essential role in HCC development and metastasis, leading to poor prognosis. The overall TME immune cells infiltration characterizations mediated by immune-related genes (IRGs) remain unclear. In this study, we aimed to investigate whether immune-related genes could be indicators for the prognosis of HCC patients and TME cell infiltration characterization as well as responses to immunotherapy.

We obtained differentially expressed immune-related genes (DE IRGs) between normal liver tissues and liver cancer tissues from The Cancer Genome Atlas (TCGA) database. To identify the prognostic genes and establish an immune risk signature, we performed univariable Cox regression survival analysis and the Least Absolute Shrinkage and Selector Operation (LASSO) regression based on the DE IRGs by robust rank aggregation method. TIPE-2 has been identified as a negative regulator of both innate and adaptive immunity and is involved in several inflammatory diseases. However, the role of immune suppression of dendritic cells (DCs) transduced with TIPE-2 has not been well studied.

In this study, DCs were transduced with TIPE-2 recombinant adenovirus, and then were cocultured with allogeneic CD4+ or CD8 + T cells. The proliferation, cytokine production and activation marker levels of CD4+ or CD8 + T cell were detected.

The data demonstrated that T cell proliferation, cytokine production and activation marker levels were attenuated after treated with TIPE-2 transduced DCs.

This study was conducted with the aim to compare the effect of posterior condyle offset (PCO) changes on knee joint function of patients following total knee replacement (TKR).

Electronic and manual searches were performed in the PubMed, Embase, and Cochrane Library databases from inception to September 2019. Network meta-analysis combined direct and indirect evidence to assess the weighted mean difference (WMD) and surface under the cumulative ranking curves (SUCRA) of different PCO changes (PCO ≤ - 2 mm, - 2 mm < PCO < 0 mm, 0 mm ≤ PCO < 2 mm and PCO ≥ 2 mm) on knee joint function after TKR. Then 103 OA patients undergoing unilateral TKR were included and the effect of PCO on the postoperative knee function was examined.

Totally, 5 cohort studies meeting the inclusion criteria were enrolled in this analysis. The results of meta-analysis showed that patients with 0 mm ≤ PCO < 2 mm after TKR had a better recovery of joint function (flexion contracture 28.67%; KS functional score 78.67%; KS knee score 75.00%) than the remaining three groups. link2 However, the knee flexion (77.00%) of patients with PCO ≤ - 2 mm after TKR was superior to the other three groups. Through the chain management process of large instruments and equipment in the OR, which was based on information nurses, the management model of inter-working and integrating information chain was established, the key links were controlled, and the whole life cycle management of instruments and equipment from expected procurement to scrapping treatment was realized. Using the cluster sampling method, 1562 surgical patients were selected. Among these patients, 749 patients were assigned to the control group before the running mode, and 813 patients were assigned to the observation group after the running mode. The related indexes for large instrument and equipment management in the department before and after the running mode were compared.

In the observation group, the average time of equipment registration was (22.05 ± 2.36), the cost was reduced by 2220yuan/year, and the satisfaction rate of the nursing staff was 97.62%. These were significantly better, when compared to the control group (P < 0.05). Furthermore, the awareness rate of the whole staff for equipment repair application was 95.12%, and the arrival time of maintenance personnel and the examination and approval time of equipment management were greatly shortened (P < 0.05).
