Additionally, the interactions between the surface and the first layer of tetracycline are weak, and the formation of the subsequent layers is favored. The Chlorella sp. biomass after the lipid extraction process is a promising material for removing tetracycline; moreover, the use of this residue contributes to the zero-waste strategy. The current global pandemic of new coronary pneumonia clearly reveals the importance of developing highly efficient filtration and fast germicidal performance of multifunctional air filters. In this study, a novel air filter with a controllable morphology based on the rod-like to flower-like zinc oxide/graphene-based photocatalytic composite particles loaded on glass microfiber was prepared by one-step microwave rapid synthesis. The multifunctional air filter shows the following special functions the 10 mg·L-1 organic pollutant solution RhB was completely degraded within 2 h under a 500 W xenon lamp, and also 99% of Escherichia coli and Staphylococcus aureus were inactivated under a 60 W light-emitting diode lamp. Furthermore, after introducing the controllable morphology zinc oxide/graphene-based photocatalytic composite particles, the filtration efficiency of the multifunctional air filter was also kept at the same level (99.8%) as the one without any addition, indicating no loss of high-efficiency filtration while obtaining the rapid bactericidal function. The rapid antibacterial principle of the multifunctional air filter has also been proposed through the UV-vis spectroscopies, photoluminescence, and electron-spin resonance spectrum. The zinc oxide/graphene-based photocatalytic composite particles tightly coated on the glass microfiber surface could increase the active sites by changing the morphology of zinc oxide and, in the meantime, promote the separation of zinc oxide photo-generated electron-hole pairs to improve the rapid sterilization ability of the multifunctional air filters. In addition, an empirical formula to evaluate the relationship between the composition, viscosity, and viscosity modulus of glass microfiber was proposed by testing the viscosity of glass microfiber composed of 14 different compositions at 1300 and 1400 °C, which can be used as a criterion to evaluate the production technology of glass microfiber filters. This study investigated the effect of ultrasound-assisted hydrogen peroxide (H2O2) pretreatment on sugar cane bagasse (SCB) followed by Monascus purpureus TISTR 3003 cultivation for lovastatin production under solid-state fermentation (SSF). Optimization of the pretreatment conditions was investigated using a response surface methodology (RSM). Within the range of the selected operating conditions, the optimized values of H2O2 concentration, amplitude, SCB dosage, and sonication time were found to be 2.74%, 83.22 μm, 2.84% and 52.29 min, respectively. The R 2 value of 0.9749 indicated that the fitted model is in good agreement with the predicted and actual lovastatin production. On the basis of the optimum conditions, the lovastatin production was 2347.10 ± 17.19 μg/g, which is 2.4 times higher than that under untreated conditions. Scanning electron microscopy (SEM) analysis explored the surface structure of the untreated SCB, which showed a compact rigid structure. In contrast, treated SCB had a rough surface structure and cracks as a result of the pretreatment.Structural, mechanical, spin-dependent electronic, magnetic, and optical properties of antiperovskite nitrides A3InN (A = Co, Ni) along with molecular orbital diagram are investigated here by using an ab initio density functional theory (DFT). The mechanical stability, deformation, damage tolerance and ductile nature of A3InN are confirmed from elastic calculations. Different mechanical anisotropy factors are also discussed in detail. The spin dependent electronic properties such as the band structure and density of states (DOS) of A3InN are studied and, the dispersion curves and DOS at Fermi level are different for up and down spins only in case of Co3InN. These calculations also suggest that Co3InN and Ni3InN behave as ferromagnetic and nonmagnetic, respectively. The induced total magnetic moment of Co3InN is found 2.735 μB/cell in our calculation. Mulliken bond population analysis shows that the atomic bonds of A3InN are contributed by both ionic and covalent bonds. Molecular orbital diagrams of A3InN antiperovskites are proposed by analyzing orbital projected band structures. The formation of a molecular orbital energy diagram for Co3InN is similar to Ni3InN with respect to hybridization and orbital sequencing. However, the orbital positions with respect to the Fermi level (E F) and separations between them are different. The Fermi surface of A3InN is composed of multiple nonspherical electron and hole type sheets in which Co3InN displays a spin-dependent Fermi surface. The various ground-state optical functions such as real and imaginary parts of the dielectric constant, optical conductivity, reflectivity, refractive index, absorption coefficient, and loss function of A3InN are studied with implications. The reflectivity spectra reveal that A3InN reflects >45% of incident electromagnetic radiations in both the visible and ultraviolet region, which is an ideal feature of coating material for avoiding solar heating.Paper analytical devices (PADs) are a class of low-cost, portable, and easy-to-use platform for several analytical tests in clinical diagnostics, environmental pollution monitoring, and food and drug safety screening. These devices are primarily made from cellulosic paper. Considering the importance of eco-friendly and local or distributed manufacturing of devices realized during the COVID-19 pandemic, we systematically studied the potential of handmade Nepali paper to be used in fabricating PADs in this work. We characterized five different handmade papers made from locally available plant fibers using an eco-friendly method and used them to fabricate PADs for determining the drug quality. The thickness, grammage, and apparent density of the paper samples ranged from 198.6 to 314.8 μm, 49.1 to 117.8 g/m2, and 0.23 to 0.43 g/cm3, respectively. The moisture content, water filtration, and wicking speed ranged from 5.8 to 7.1%, 35.7 to 156.7, and 0.062 to 0.124 mms-1, respectively. Furthermore, the water contact angle and porosity ranged from 76.6 to 112.1° and 79 to 83%, respectively. The best paper sample (P5) was chosen to fabricate PADs for the determination of metformin, an antidiabetic drug. Delanzomib clinical trial The metformin assay on PADs followed a linear range from 0.0625 to 0.5 mg/mL. The assay had a limit of detection and limit of quantitation of 0.05 and 0.18 mg/mL, respectively. The average amount of metformin concentration in samples collected from local pharmacies (n = 20) was 465.6 ± 15.1 mg/tablet. When compared with the spectrophotometric method, PAD assay correctly predicted the concentration of 90% samples. The PAD assay on handmade paper may provide a low-cost and easy-to-use system for screening the quality of drugs and other point-of-need applications.A theoretical heat and mass transfer model of volatile liquid lens evaporation on the surface of an immiscible liquid substrate is established in toroidal coordinates. According to the coupled boundary conditions of heat and mass transfer at the lens surface as well as the interfacial cooling effect, the analytical solutions of the temperature field inside the lens and the vapor concentration field around the lens are derived for the first time. Compared with the isothermal model, the change of contact radius calculated by the present model agrees well with the experimental data, especially when the liquid substrate reaches a relatively high temperature. It also reveals that the temperature distribution inside the lens is not uniform, which is similar to the sessile droplet evaporation on a solid substrate surface. In addition, the excess temperature, heat flux, and evaporation flux of the lens-air interface increase monotonically from the lens center to the contact line. Finally, the influences of density ratio and evaporative cooling number E 0 on lens mass evaporation rate are analyzed, which shows that the lens mass evaporation rate decreases with increasing density ratio and evaporative cooling number. Two ligand ratio-dependent supramolecular networks, [Cd(2,2'-bpym)1.5(BDC)]·0.5(2,2'-bpym)·5H2O (1) and [Cd(2,2'-bpym)0.5(BDC)(H2O)3] (2), (BDC2- = dianion of terephthalic acid and 2,2'-bpym = 2,2'-bipyrimidine) have been synthesized and structurally characterized by the single-crystal X-ray diffraction method. Structural determination reveals that compound 1 is a two-dimensional (2D) layered metal-organic framework (MOF) constructed via the bridges of Cd(II) ions with 2,2'-bpym and BDC2- ligands, and compound 2 is a zero-dimensional (0D) 2,2'-bpym-bridged di-Cd(II) monomeric complex. When the thermally dehydrated powders of 1 (at 100 °C) were immersed into water solution, most of the dehydrated powders of 1 underwent structural transformation back to rehydrated 1, but very little amounts of the dehydrated powders of 1 were decomposed to light-brown crystals of 2 or colorless crystals of a new coordination polymer (CP), [Cd(2,2'-bpym)(BDC)(H2O)]·3H2O (3), with its one-dimensional (1D) zigzag chain-like framework being constructed via the bridges of Cd(II) ions with the BDC2- ligand. Structural analysis reveals that all 3D supramolecular networks of 1-3 are further constructed via strong intermolecular interactions, including hydrogen bonds and π-π stacking interactions. Compounds 1 and 2 both exhibit significant water vapor hysteresis isotherms, and their cyclic water de-/adsorption behavior accompanied with solid-state structural transformation has been verified by de-/rehydration TG analyses and powder X-ray diffraction (PXRD) measurements.Boswellic acids, derived from the Boswellia serrata plant, have been demonstrated to have anti-inflammatory properties in experimental animal models. The present study was aimed to evaluate the uro-protective effect of boswellic acids in rats with cyclophosphamide-induced cystitis. Interstitial cystitis was induced by cyclophosphamide (CYP). In order to analyze the reduction of the urothelial damage, the bladder weight, the nociception response, and the Evans blue dye extravasation from the bladder were evaluated. To investigate the involvement of lipid peroxidation and enzymatic antioxidants CAT, SOD, and GPX and MPO and NO were evaluated. IL-6 and TNF-α were measured by the ELISA immunoassay technique. The results showed that pretreatment with boswellic acids significantly reduced urothelial damage which was accompanied by a decrease in the activity of MDA, CPO, and NO levels and prevention of the depletion of CAT, SOD, and GPX. The levels of IL-6 and TNF-α were dramatically reduced by boswellic acids. Histopathological findings revealed a considerable reduction in cellular infiltration, edema, epithelial denudation, and bleeding. Our findings showed that boswellic acids, by their antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties, negate the detrimental effects of cyclophosphamide on the bladder, suggesting boswellic acids as promising therapeutic alternatives for cystitis.
