The results of MR studies on OC showed that higher BMI and height, earlier age at menarche, endometriosis, schizophrenia, and higher circulating β-carotene and circulating zinc levels are associated with an increased risk of OC. In contrast, polycystic ovary syndrome; vitiligo; higher circulating vitamin D, magnesium, and testosterone levels; and HMG-CoA reductase inhibition are associated with a reduced risk of OC. MR analysis presents a2 valuable approach to understanding the causality between different risk factors and OC after full consideration of its inherent assumptions and limitations.MicroRNAs (miRs) are short non-coding RNAs, typically 18-25 nucleotides in length, that are critically important, through their direct effects on target mRNAs, in a variety of cellular processes including cell differentiation, proliferation and survival. Dysregulated miR expression has been identified in numerous cancer types including acute myeloid leukemia (AML). From a clinical standpoint, several miRs have been shown to associate with prognosis in AML patients. Furthermore, they also carry the potential to be used as biomarkers and to inform medical decision making. In addition, several preclinical studies have provided strong rationale to develop novel therapeutic strategies to target miRs in AML. This review will focus on potential clinical applications of miRs in adult AML and will discuss unique miR signatures in specific AML subtypes, their role in prognostication and response to therapy, as well as miRs that are promising therapeutic targets and ongoing clinical trials directed towards targeting clinically relevant miRs in AML that could allow for improvements in current treatment strategies.

Emerging evidence indicates that the tumor microenvironment influences tumor progression and patient prognosis through various inflammatory cells. Polymorphonuclear neutrophils (PMNs) and their functional structures termed neutrophil extracellular traps (NETs) are prominent constituents of several malignant tumors and affect the tumor microenvironment and cancer evolution. Here, we investigate the prognostic value of PMNs and NETs for recurrence in patients with cervical cancer.

Both omacetaxine (HHT) and curcumin were shown to exhibit anti-proliferative effect on lymphoma cells. However, the role of combination of HHT with curcumin (HHT/curcumin combination) on lymphoma cells remains unclear. Thus, this study aimed to investigate the effect of HHT/curcumin combination on the proliferation, migration, and angiogenesis of lymphoma cells.

Cell counting kit-8 (CCK-8), Ki67 immunofluorescence and transwell assays were used to assess the viability, proliferation and migration of U937 and Raji cells respectively. In addition, tube formation assay was used to determine the effects of HHT/curcumin combination on angiogenesis in human umbilical vein endothelial cells (HUVECs).

In this study, we found that HHT/curcumin combination significantly inhibited the proliferation, migration and invasion in U937 and Raji cells (all P < 0.01). In addition, combination treatment markedly inhibited the secreted levels of vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF)-(A-D) (all P < 0.01) in Raji ce inhibition of VEGF/Akt signaling pathway. These results suggested that HHT combined with curcumin might be regarded as a promising therapeutic approach for the treatment of lymphoma.The development of hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) is a complex pathological process. Long intergenic non-protein-coding RNA 1667 (LINC01667, also known as MGC38584) plays an oncogenic role in several human cancers; however, its functional role in HCC tumorigenesis remains unknown. Here, we first evaluated the gene expression levels of LINC01667 in HCC using data from The Cancer Genome Atlas and Gene Expression Profiling Interactive Analysis (GEPIA) databases. We then elucidated the association between LINC01667 gene expression levels and the survival rates of patients with HCC. We detected the effect of LINC01667 on the malignant phenotypes (cell proliferation, migration, invasion and apoptosis etc.) and the MAPK and PI3K/AKT/mTOR signaling pathways of HepG2, SMMC-7721 and HUH7 cells. We also analyzed the sensitivity of HepG2, SMMC-7721 and HUH7 with different expression levels of LINC01667 to anti-HCC drugs in vitro. Based on data from the aforementioned databases and our experiments in vitro, we found that LINC01667 was overexpressed in HCC, and that patients with high LINC01667 levels had a remarkably poor overall survival rate. In addition, inhibition of LINC01667 expression suppressed the proliferation, migration and invasion of HepG2 and SMMC-7721 cells and promoted their apoptosis in vitro. In contrast, overexpression of LINC01667 promoted the proliferation, migration and invasion of HUH7 cells and suppressed their apoptosis in vitro. ChIRP-seq (chromatin isolation by RNA purification) showed that LINC01667 bound to MEG3, and downregulated the expression of MEG3. In addition, western blotting showed that LINC01667 could activate the NF-κB pathway to promote cancer progression. In conclusion, we report that LINC01667 is an important oncogene in HCC and may be used as a potential diagnostic and prognostic biomarker of HCC.

Currently, the location of primary tumor was an independent prognostic factor of breast cancer. Tumors in the central and nipple portion (TCNP) had poor prognosis compared to other peripheral quadrants. The breast-conserving therapy (BCT) is becoming increasingly common worldwide in breast cancer operations. However, whether the availability of BCT was performed for TCNP remained a matter of debate. We sought to investigate whether BCT was suitable for TCNP with respect to survival outcomes, compared with mastectomy therapy.

Utilizing the Surveillance, Epidemiology, and End Results (SEER) database, we obtained TCNP breast cancer patients diagnosed during the period of 2010-2015. One-to-one (11) propensity score matching (PSM) was applied to construct a matched sample consisting of pairs of BCT and mastectomy groups. Univariate and multivariate Cox proportional hazard models were applied to estimate the factors associated with breast cancer-specific survival (BCSS) and overall survival (OS). Survival analyuitable TCNP patients, especially those with a strong willingness to conserve their breasts.

Cancer pain, the most common skeleton-related event of bone metastases, significantly disturbs patients' life. MRI-guided focused ultrasound (MRgFUS) is a therapeutic option to relieve pain; however, its efficacy and safety have not been fully explored. Therefore, we aim to conduct a meta-analysis on studies reporting MRgFUS for patients with bone metastases.

Randomized controlled trials (RCT) and non-RCTs on MRgFUS treatment for patients with bone metastases were collected using PubMed, MEDLINE In-Process (US National Library of Medicine), National Institutes of Health (US National Library of Medicine), Embase (Elsevier), Web of Science, CINAHL, and the Cochrane Library between August 2007 and September 2019. Data on quantitative pain assessment before/after MRgFUS, response rate, and complication were extracted and analyzed.

Thirteen (21%) were asymptomatic. Overall, 46 patients (70.7%) presented with upper airway symptoms with or without general symptoms. More than half of the patients experienced pharyngodynia or sorethroat, smell and taste dysfunction as common symptoms (66.7%, 61.4% and 50.7% respectively). Even the patients are uncomfortable visiting the hospital due to the fear of acquiring the COVID infection.A 41-year-old obese female with grade 4 subglottic stenosis status post tracheostomy presented with foreign body Fuller's tracheostomy tube flange in the right bronchus during the COVID 19 pandemic. The patient had delayed presentation to the hospital due to fear of getting exposed to COVID and poor access to health care facilities due to lockdown imposed in various places in the nation. The patient was tested for COVID and taken up for surgery where rigid bronchoscopy and foreign body removal was done via the tracheostoma. The details of the procedure, challenges faced during the procedure, the effect of the COVID pandemic on the patients and hospital staffs are discussed. The complications of the broken tracheostomy tube can be most efficiently dispelled by proper tube care by the attenders and frequent tube change.
