Conclusions Systemic conditions such as diabetes, require the innovative development of custom vibrating mesh devices to provide the desired flow rates and droplet size for effective inhaled insulin administration.Performance in the supine-to-stand (STS) task is an important functional and health marker throughout life, but the evaluation methods and some correlates can impact it. This article aims to examine the studies that assessed the performance of the STS task of young people, adults and the elderly. Evidence of the association between the STS task and body weight status, musculoskeletal fitness and physical activity was investigated, and a general protocol was proposed. MEDLINE/Pubmed and Web of Science databases were accessed for searching studies measuring the STS task directly; identification, objective, design, sample, protocols and results data were extracted; the risk of bias was assessed (PROSPERO CRD42017055693). From 13,155 studies, 37 were included, and all demonstrated a low to moderate risk of bias. The STS task was applied in all world, but the protocols varied across studies, and they lacked detail; robust evidence demonstrating the association between STS task and musculoskeletal fitness was found; there was limited research examining body weight status, physical activity and the STS task performance. In conclusion, the STS task seems to be a universal tool to track motor functional competence and musculoskeletal fitness throughout life for clinical or research purposes. This study aims to assess the compositional traits and sensory characteristics of a traditional pecorino cheese associated with management and feeding system seasonality. The study was carried out on two mountain dairy farms using an outdoor, pasture-based system from April to October (OutS), and an indoor system (InS) during the rest of the year. Outdoor-produced milk had higher fat content and a tendency for protein and somatic cell count to be higher. The OutS cheeses showed higher dry matter and fat content, higher percentages of unsaturated fatty acids, C183, cis-9, trans-11 conjugated linoleic acid, and trans-11 C181, and lower percentages of C140 and C160. These modifications in fatty acid composition determined the reduction of the atherogenic index. Integrin inhibitor The OutS cheeses also displayed higher intensity of almost all sensory attributes, including odor, flavor, taste, and texture descriptors. The outdoor system partly reduced the liking of consumers for pecorino. However, changes in the productive process leading to an increment in the water content and softness of the cheeses (i.e., controlled humidity and temperature during ripening) may increase the overall liking of pasture-based products, thus promoting the consumption of healthier foods.Few retrospective studies have shown a benefit in selected patients affected by heavily pre-treated, platinum-resistant ovarian carcinomas (PROCs) who have undergone cytoreduction at relapse. However, the role of tertiary and quaternary cytoreductive surgery is not fully defined. Our aim was to evaluate survival and surgical morbidity and mortality after maximal cytoreduction in this setting. We evaluated all consecutive patients undergoing cytoreduction for platinum-resistance over an 8-year period (2010-2018) in two different centers. Fifty patients (median age 52.5 years, range 34-75) were included; the median number of previous chemotherapy lines was three (range 1-7) and the median number of previous surgeries was one (range 1-4). Completeness of cytoreduction (CC = 0) was achieved in 22 patients (44%). Rates of major operative morbidity and 30-day mortality were 38% and 8%, respectively. Median follow-up was 35 months. The absence of tumor residual (CC = 0) was associated with a significantly better overall survival (OS) compared to the CC > 0 subgroup (median OS 32.9 months (95% CI 21.6-44.2) vs. 4.8 months (95% CI n.a.-9.8), hazard ratio (HR) 4.21 (95% CI 2.07-8.60), p less then 0.001). Optimal cytoreduction is feasible and associated with promising OS in selected, heavily pre-treated PROCs. Further prospective studies are required to better define the role of surgery in platinum-resistant disease.Information fusion combining inertial navigation and radio frequency (RF) technologies, is commonly applied in indoor positioning systems (IPSs) to obtain more accurate tracking results. The performance of the inertial navigation system (INS) subsystem is affected by sensor drift over time and the RF-based subsystem aims to correct the position estimate using a fusion filter. However, the inherent sensor drift is usually not corrected during fusion, which leads to increasingly erroneous estimates over a short period of time. Among the inertial sensor drifts, gyroscope drift has the most significant impact in determining the correct orientation and accurate tracking. A gyroscope drift correction approach is proposed in this study and is incorporated in an INS and ultra-wideband (UWB) fusion IPS where only distance measurements from UWB subsystem are used. The drift correction approach is based on turn detection to account for the fact that gyroscope drift is accumulated during a turn. Practical pedestrian tracking experiments are conducted to demonstrate the accuracy of the drift correction approach. With the gyroscope drift corrected, the fusion IPS is able to provide more accurate tracking performance and achieve up to 64.52% mean position error reduction when compared to the INS only tracking result.Phenolic compounds are well-known bioactive compounds in plants that can have a protective role against cancers, cardiovascular diseases and many other diseases. To promote local food development, a comprehensive overview of the phenolic compounds' composition and their impact on human health from typical Mediterranean plants such as Punica granatum L., Ziziphus jujuba Mill., Arbutus unedo L., Celtis australis L., Ficus carica L., Cynara cardunculus var. Scolymus L. is provided. Moreover, the potential use of these data for authenticity determination is discussed. Some of the plants' phenolic compounds and their impact to human health are very well determined, while for others, the data are scarce. However, in all cases, more data should be available about the content, profile and health impacts due to a high variation of phenolic compounds depending on genetic and environmental factors. Quantifying variation in phenolic compounds in plants relative to genetic and environmental factors could be a useful tool in food authentication control.
