This case highlights the importance of a careful diagnosis when a patient has a history of a disease and comes to the hospital with the same or similar symptoms.

GBS should be considered in the differential diagnosis of spinal disorder, even though magnetic resonance imaging shows severe lumbar spinal stenosis. This case highlights the importance of a careful diagnosis when a patient has a history of a disease and comes to the hospital with the same or similar symptoms.

The drug interaction between warfarin and rifampicin is widely known, but there are still some difficulties in managing the combination of the two drugs.

A patient with brucellosis received strict monitoring from a Chinese pharmacist team during combination of warfarin and rifampicin. The dose of warfarin was increased to 350% in 3 mo before reaching the lower international normalized ratio treatment window. No obvious adverse reaction occurred during the drug-adjustment period. This is the first case report of long-term combined use of rifampicin and warfarin in patients with brucellosis and valve replacement in China based on the Chinese lower warfarin dose and international normalized ratio range.

Anticoagulation for valve replacement in Chinese patients differs from that in other races. Establishment of a pharmacist clinic provides vital assistance in warfarin dose adjustment.

Chloracne is a rare skin condition that is caused by systemic exposure to halogenated aromatic compounds. The main characteristic of chloracne is blackhead, and in severe cases, it can be accompanied by systemic symptoms. Sodium 3,5,6-trichloropyridin-2-ol (STCP) is a necessary precursor compound for the production of chlorpyrifos and triclopyr, which are extensively used as a pesticide and herbicide, respectively. STCP is also a chlorophenol that has been associated with chloracne. STCP poisoning could induce mild myelin sheath damage. We herein report three cases with chloracne due to exposure to STCP.

Three young men, aged 29, 33, and 26 years, respectively, in the same workplace had polymorphic skin lesions, characterized mainly by comedones and cysts, and one of them also had acne like lesions in the genital area. These clinical manifestations appeared when they were exposed to STCP for 3 d, 1 wk, and 2 wk, respectively. Among them, polyneuropathy and liver damage occurred. We performed dermoscopy annosis of chloracne cannot be made in time. Chloracne still deserves our attention.

STCP is becoming a new chemical product to induce chloracne, which should attract the attention of all medical professionals, especially dermatologists. Due to the lack of knowledge on the new chemical, the diagnosis of chloracne cannot be made in time. Chloracne still deserves our attention.

Since the severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) epidemic, numerous studies have been published on SARS-CoV-2-related encephalitis/meningitis, but it has not been established if there are specific clinical characteristics of encephalitis/meningitis associated with SARS-CoV-2 infection.

To identify the specific clinical features of cases of encephalitis/meningitis associated with SARS-CoV-2 infection in the context of this virus infection pandemic and investigate their relationship with SARS-CoV-2 infection.

We searched PubMed, and included single case reports and case series with full text in English, reporting original data of coronavirus disease-19 (COVID-19) patients with encephalitis/meningitis and a confirmed recent SARS-CoV-2 infection. Clinical data were extracted.

We identified 22 articles (18 single case reports and 4 case series) reporting on a total of 32 encephalitis/meningitis patients with confirmed SARS-CoV-2 infection. SARS-CoV-2 infection was confirmed through reommon neurological complication in patients with COVID-19. The appropriate use of definitions and exclusion of potential similar diseases are important to reduce over-diagnosis of SARS-CoV-2 associated encephalitis or meningitis.

Gastrointestinal bleeding (GIB) is a major concern in patients hospitalized with acute coronary syndrome (ACS) due to the common use of both antiplatelet medications and anticoagulants. Studies evaluating the safety of gastrointestinal endoscopy (GIE) in ACS patients with GIB are limited by their relatively small size, and the focus has generally been on upper GIB and esophago-gastroduod-enoscopy (EGD) only.

To evaluate the safety profile and the hospitalization outcomes of undergoing GIE in patients with ACS and concomitant GIB using the national database for hospitalized patients in the United States.

The Nationwide Inpatient Sample database was queried to identify patients hospitalized with ACS and GIB during the same admission between 2005 and 2014. The International Classification of Diseases Code, 9

Revision Clinical Modification was utilized for patient identification. Patients were further classified into two groups based on undergoing endoscopic procedures (EGD, small intestinal endoscopy, cogroup not undergoing endoscopy (mean 7.84 ± 9.73 d,

< 0.001). Multivariate analysis showed that performing GIE was associated with lower mortality (odds ratio 0.58,

< 0.001) and shorter LOS (-0.36 factor,

< 0.001).

Performing GIE during the index hospitalization of patients with ACS and GIB was correlated with a better mortality rate and a shorter LOS. Approximately two-thirds of patients with both ACS and GIB undergo GIE during the same hospitalization.

The prevalence of perineal endometriosis (PEM) is low among women with endometriosis (EM) treated by surgery. It manifests as hard or cystic nodules with pain in the perineal wounds and surrounding areas. Implantation theory is regarded as the main pathogenesis of PEM. There are few clinical studies on the incidence and clinical characteristics of PEM. This study aims to summarize the clinical data of 14 PEM cases and analyze the factors that may be related to the incubation period and pain.

To analyze the medical history, clinical manifestations, diagnosis, treatment and treatment effect of PEM.

The present study is a case series. We collected the clinical data and follow-up data of 14 patients with PEM who visited The International Peace Maternal and Child Health Hospital Affiliated to Shanghai Jiaotong University from January 2009 to December 2019. Paired

test and Pearson correlation analysis were used for statistical analysis.

< 0.05 was considered statistically significant.

The higher the BMI during delivery and within 1 mo after delivery, the shorter the incubation period of PEM. It is very important to evaluate the location of lesions before surgery. Surgical resection of the lesion is the best treatment for PEM and results in significant alleviation of symptoms. Therefore, following the diagnosis of PEM, immediate surgery is recommended.

pT2+ prostate cancer (PCa), a term first used in 2004, refers to organ-confined PCa characterized by a positive surgical margin (PSM) without extracapsular extension. Patients with a PSM are vulnerable to biochemical recurrence (BCR) following radical prostatectomy (RP); however, whether adjuvant radiotherapy (aRT) is imperative to PSM after RP remains controversial. This study had the longest follow-up on pT2+ PCa after robotic-assisted RP since 2004. Moreover, we discussed our viewpoints on pT2+ PCa based on real-world experiences.

To conclude a 10-year surveillance on pT2+ PCa and compare our results with those of the published literature.

Forty-eight patients who underwent robotic-assisted RP between 2008 and 2011 were enrolled. Two serial tests of prostate specific antigen (PSA) ≥ 0.2 ng/mL were defined as BCR. Various designed factors were analyzed using statistical tools for BCR risk. SAS 9.4 was applied and significance was defined as

< 0.05. Univariate, multivariate, linear regression, an, we do not recommend routine aRT for pT2+ PCa.

Robotic-assisted RP in pT2+ PCa of worse conditions can provide better BCR-free survival. A surgical technique limiting the PSM in favorable situations is warranted to lower the pT2+ PCa BCR rate. Preoperative PSA cut-off value of 19.09 ng/mL is a predictive factor for BCR. Defactinib in vivo Based on our experiences and review of the literature, we do not recommend routine aRT for pT2+ PCa.

Silicosis is a type of chronic pulmonary fibrosis caused by long-term inhalation of silica dust particles. There has been no ideal biomarker for the diagnosis and differential diagnosis of silicosis until now. Studies have found that elevated neuron-specific enolase (NSE) concentration in the serum of silicosis patients is helpful for diagnosis and severity assessment of the disease. However, the number of cases in these studies was not enough to arouse attention.

To investigate the clinical significance of serum NSE in the diagnosis and staging of silicosis.

From January 2017 to June 2019, 326 cases of silicosis confirmed in Quanzhou First Hospital Affiliated to Fujian Medical University were included in the silicosis group. A total of 328 healthy individuals or medical patients without silicosis were included in the control group. Serum NSE concentrations of all subjects were determined by electrochemical luminescence.

There were no significant differences in sex, age, smoking index and complicationrum NSE concentration may be a promising biomarker for the diagnosis and assessment of severity of silicosis.

Metabolic syndrome (MetS) is related to poor cognitive function. However, the results of previous studies were inconsistent, and whether the

allele modifies the association remains unclear.

To elucidate the relationships among MetS,

, and cognitive dysfunction in an elderly population in China.

One hundred elderly patients with MetS and 102 age- and gender-matched controls were included in the study. Baseline clinical characteristics and biochemical index for glucose and lipid metabolism were obtained. The distribution of

was assessed with PCR restriction fragment length polymorphism analysis. Cognitive function was evaluated by mini-mental status examination at the 1-year follow-up examination.

Compared with controls, MetS patients had worse cognitive function and decreased ability to participate in activities of daily life (

= 0.001 and 0.046, respectively). Patients with cognitive dysfunction had higher prevalence of MetS (62.1%

36.4%,

< 0.001) and were more likely to carry the

allele (22.
