Inflammatory and cell proliferation signaling proteins were analyzed with qPCR analysis to confirm the anticancer activity of daidzin against human cervical cancer HeLa cell line. Daidzin significantly generated ROS and altered the mitochondrial membrane permeability in HeLa cell line. The results of AO/EtBr staining prove daidzin induced apoptosis in HeLa cell line and it also inhibited the cell adhesion property of HeLa which is reported in our matrigel cell adhesion assay. It also increased the caspases 8 & 9 which are key regulators of apoptosis. Daidzin significantly decreased the expression of inflammatory gene and cell proliferating signaling molecule. To, conclude our results confirm daidzin effectively decreased inflammation and induced apoptosis in human cervical cancer HeLa cell line.Cadmium (Cd) is often associated with reproductive disorders of mammals. Edible bird's nest (EBN) is a natural food product made of swiftlet's salivary secretion used to make their nests and it has been consumed as a tonic food for decades. This research aimed to study the protective effects of EBN against Cd-induced uterine toxicity in Sprague Dawley rats. Thirty (30) female Sprague Dawley rats were assigned into five groups as follows group 1- negative control (NC) received distilled water; group 2 - positive control (PC) administered with CdCl2, 5 mg/kg BW; while groups EBN-1, EBN-2, and EBN-3 received CdCl2 (5 mg/kg BW) plus graded concentrations of 60, 90 and 120 mg/kg BW of EBN, respectively. After four weeks of daily oral treatment, rats were euthanized to collect the uterus for evluations of histopathological changes, Cd concentrations and Metallothionein (MT) expressions using H&E stain, inductive coupled plasma mass spectrometry (ICP-MS) and immunohistochemistry, respectively. Blood samples were colification mechanism and prevention of Cd deposition.Distinctive studies were conducted for the identification of meiobenthos and zooplankton at Farasan Islands and Jizan sandy shores. The present work compares the meiobenthos and zooplankton communities at Alhsas sandy shore at Farasan Islands and As-Suways sandy shore at Jizan. Population density, species richness and Shannon-Weiner diversity index were determined for meiobenthos and zooplankton inhabiting both the studied sites. Water criteria; surface water temperature, pH and conductivity were determined for each investigated site. Eleven zooplankton species were defined at Alhsas sandy shore Farasan, nine species were identified at the littoral zone at As-Suways sandy shore, Jizan. Ten meiobenthos species were defined at Alhsas site, Farasan. Only eight meiobenthos species were defined at the intertidal zone of As-Suways site, Jizan. The results were discussed to highlight the effect of water criteria on the spatial distribution of zooplankton and meiobenthos at the investigated sites.Mitochondrial genome DNA is a powerful marker for resolving phylogenetic relationships among scleractinian corals. Here, we decode the complete mitochondrial genome of Diploastrea heliopora (Lamarck, 1816) for the first time. The general features are 18 363 bp in length, and conventionally, with 13 protein coding genes, two ribosomal RNAs, and two transfer RNAs. Gene arrangement and distribution are similar to other scleractinian corals. Moreover, the COI gene of D. heliopora is broken up into two parts by a complex group I intron. This intron is 1076 bases in length and contains helical structures (P1-P10, except P2) and four conserved regions (P, Q, R, and S). The mitochondrial genome of D. heliopora has asymmetric base composition (13.03% C, 20.29% G, 25.91% A, and 40.77% for T). Based on concatenated protein coding genes, ML and BI trees show similar phylogenetic relationship D. heliopora clustered closely with Sclerophyllia maxima and Echinophyllia aspera into the robust branch. The data and conclusion in this study are reference for further phylogenetic studies of corals. In permafrost peatlands, the degradation of permafrost soil can raise soil temperature and alter moisture conditions, which increases the rate of loss of soil organic carbon (SOC). Here we selected three typical permafrost types that have very different active layer thicknesses but with soil originating from the same vegetation and which exist under comparable climatic conditions in the Da Xing'an mountain range continuous permafrost, island permafrost, and island melting permafrost. selleck To quantify the relative importance of control elements on SOC stabilization in these different permafrost types, we used correlation analysis to assess the relationship between organic carbon, physical and chemical properties and microorganisms, and explored the contribution of these factors to the accumulation of organic carbon. This study shows that the interaction between clay or silt, iron oxides and microorganisms have an important influence on the stability of organic carbon in permafrost peatlands.Analysis through logistic regression explored to investigate the relationship between binary or multivariable ordinal response probability and in one or more explanatory variables. The main objectives of this study to investigate advanced prediction risk factor of Coronary Heart Disease (CHD) using a logit model. Attempts made to reduce risk factors, increase public or professional awareness. Logit model used to evaluate the probability of a person develop CHD, considering any factors such as age, gender, high low-density lipoprotein (LDL) cholesterol, low high-density lipoprotein (HDL) cholesterol, high blood pressure, family history of CHD younger than 45, diabetes, smoking, being post-menopausal for women and being older than 45 for men. Logit concept of brief statistics described with slight modification to estimate the parameters testing for the significance of the coefficients, confidence interval fits the simple, multiple logit models. Besides, interpretation of the fitted logit regression model introduced. Variables showing best results within the scientific context, good explanation data assessed to fit an estimated logit model containing chosen variables, this present experiment used the statistical inference procedure; chi-square distribution, likelihood ratio, Score, or Wald test and goodness-of-fit. Health promotion started with increased public or professional awareness improved for early detection of CHD, to reduce the risk of mortality, aimed to be Saudi vision by 2030.The present study was designed to investigate the prevalence of gastrointestinal (GI) parasites in cattle and buffaloes of Lower Dir Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Pakistan. The presence of the eggs, cysts, and oocysts of GI parasites in fecal samples were detected using direct smear methods and concentration techniques including floatation, centrifugation, and sedimentation. Identification of recovered fecal stages were determined by morphology using size and appearance of the recovered eggs, cysts, and oocysts. A total of 314 fecal samples were collected from the different Tehsils (Administrative Districts) and analyzed through microscopy. A higher prevalence was observed in the buffalo than the cow population. A total of 184 samples were positive for GI parasites of which 109/196 (55.61%) were from cattle, whereas 75/118 (63.55%) were from buffaloes. The minimum number of strongyle eggs detected in all the samples were 136.39 eggs/g (EPG). The mean EPG in cattle was 143.30 and 122.56 in buffaloes. The open-source water prevalence of GI parasites was higher than the other sources in cattle and the second highest after tap water in buffaloes. The seasonal prevalence of GI parasites ranged from 32.39% (23/71), in spring to 68.8% (86/125) in summer in cattle. In was For buffaloes the infection prevalence was 52.94% (27/51) and 71.64% (48/67) in spring and summer, respectively. Gastrointestinal parasites are a serious problem in cattle and buffaloes in the lower district of Dir Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Pakistan. In general, the burden of parasitic infection was low in most animals that received previous anti-parasitic treatment. This study evaluated the protective effect of astaxanthin (ASX) against high-fat diet (HFD)-induced cardiac damage and fibrosis in rats and examined if the mechanism of protection involves modulating SIRT1. Rat were divided into 5 groups (n = 10/group) as 1) control fed normal diet (3.82 kcal/g), 2) control + ASX (200 mg/kg/orally), 3) HFD fed HFD (4.7 kcal/g), 4) HFD + ASX (200 mg/kg/orally), and HFD + ASX + EX-527 (1 mg/kg/i.p) (a selective SIRT1 inhibitor). All treatments were conducted for 14 weeks. Administration of ASX reduced cardiomyocyte damage, inhibited inflammatory cell infiltration, preserved cardiac fibers structure, prevented collagen deposition and protein levels of TGF-β 1 in the left ventricles (LVs) of HFD-fed rats. In the LVs of both the control and HFD-fed rat, ASX significantly reduced levels of reactive oxygen species (ROS), tumor necrosis factor-α (TNF-α), interleukin-6 (IL-6), and p-smad2/3 (Lys19) but increased the levels of glutathione (GSH), catalase, and manganese superoxide dismutase (MnSOD). Concomitantly, it increased the nuclear activity of Nrf2 and reduced that of NF-κB p65. Furthermore, administration of ASX to both the control and HFD-fed rats increased total and nuclear levels of SIRT1, stimulated the nuclear activity of SIRT1, and reduced the acetylation of Nrf2, NF-κB p65, and Smad3. All these cardiac beneficial effects of ASX in the HFD-fed rats were abolished by co-administration of EX-527. In conclusion, ASX stimulates antioxidants and inhibits markers of inflammation under basal and HFD conditions. The mechanism of protection involves, at least, activation SIRT1 signaling.Complex diseases caused by Meloidogyne incognita and Fusarium fungus in cucumber is the most destructive disease under polyhouses. The experiment was conducted in the polyhouse of the Department of Horticulture, CCS HAU, Hisar, Haryana, India during summer season (2015-16) to evaluate the potential of bacterial and fungal biocontrol agents against Meloidogyne incognita and Fusarium oxysporum f. sp. cucumerinum in cucumber. Bioagents - Trichoderma viride (Tv), Pseudomonas fluorescence (Pf), Purpureocillium lilacinum (Pl) were taken 10 and 20 g kg-1 seed and bioagents liquid formulation, 10- and 15-ml kg-1 seed, were mixed with the potted soil. Chemical as well as untreated check were also maintained. All the treatments significantly improved the plant growth parameter, viz., shoot length (SL), root length (RL), fresh shoot weight (FSW), fresh root weight (FRW), dry shoot weight (DSW) and dry root weight (DRW) as compared to untreated check. However, significant reduction in nematode population and maximum improvement in plant growth parameter was recorded with carbofuran followed by higher dose of bioagents liquid formulation. Among the bioagents, bioagents liquid formulation was most effective in suppressing root knot nematode galling (43 / root system) and final population in soil (131 J2s / 200 cc soil) and fungus wilt incidence (25 %) at 30th day of after germination and significantly improved the plant growth parameters - shoot length (147.3 cm), fresh shoot weight (55.6 g), dry shoot weight (22.51 g) and dry root weight (4.50 g) from other bioagents. Bioagents liquid formulation was effective in suppression of root-knot nematode and fungus complex disease than the powder formulations of bioagents. More studies should be needed in future to evaluate the efficacy of bioagents as seed treatments and soil applications under field conditions.
