The 8-month-olds did not show the violation-of-expectation effect for communicative pointing (Experiment 4) or for a matched abbreviated reach (Experiment 5b), showing it only for a complete reach behind the occluder (Experiment 5a), although they were faster to detect the congruent object in Experiment 4 and 5a. Findings reveal that automatic perspective taking develops after communicative perspective taking and that communicative perspective taking is a developmental outcome of the first year of life. The developmental pattern suggests a continuous social construction process of perspective-taking skills.
The Covid-19 pandemic and its related public health measures such as mandatory lockdowns have been shown to have an impact on mental health. A key question is the role of pre-existing psychiatric disorders in how such measures are experienced.
During the first country-wide lockdown imposed in France, a Covid-19 module was added to the French portion of the ongoing World Mental Health International college student survey. The present study focuses on respondents who completed the survey during that time frame (n=291).
Students with prior depression endorsed greater increases in anxiety (72.2% vs 50.9%) and stress (72.2% vs 49.4%), as well as greater decreases in concentration (87.0% vs 72.9%) during lockdown as compared to those without depression history. In multivariate analyses, prior depression was associated with overall stress (AOR=5.50), financial stress (AOR=1.95), family stress (AOR=2.47), work related stress (AOR=5.15), and stress related to loved ones (AOR=2.21). Prior depression was also associated with greater probability experiencing increased anxiety (AOR=2.61) and stress (AOR=2.55) during lockdown.
The findings indicate that the best predictor of experiencing stress and anxiety during the first Covid-19 lockdown was a history of depression prior to the pandemic outbreak. Implementing public health measures such as mandatory national lockdowns should be accompanied by strategies for reaching out to those who are vulnerable due to a history of mental illness.

In recent years, the reverse osmosis (RO) membrane represented by polyamide (PA) has made great progress because of its excellent properties. However, the conventional PA RO membranes still have some scientific problems, such as membrane fouling, easy degradation after chlorination, and unclear mechanisms of salt retention and water flux, which seriously impede the widespread use of RO membrane technology. This paper reviews the progress in the research and development of the RO membrane, with key focus on the mechanisms and strategies of the contemporary separation, anti-fouling and chlorine resistance of the PA RO membrane. This review seeks to provide state-of-the-art insights into the mitigation strategies and basic mechanisms for some of the key challenges. Under the guidance of the fundamental understanding of each mechanism, operation and modification strategies are discussed, and reasonable analysis is carried out, which can address some key technical challenges. The last section of the review focuses on the technical issues, challenges, and future perspective of these mechanisms and strategies. Advances in synergistic mechanisms and strategies of the PA RO membranes have been rarely reviewed; thus, this review can serve as a guide for new entrants to the field of membrane water treatment and established researchers.Adhesion is one of the main features of sewage sludge. This paper aims at reducing sludge-to-wall adhesion through formation of a water layer induced by boundary electro-osmotic pulse (BEOP) which is characterized by distributing anodes and cathodes on one surface and exerting a pulsating current. The effects of the related parameters, including current intensity, exerting time, frequency, duty cycle (DTC), and the ratio of cathodic surface area to anodic surface area (C/A), on the adhesive stress of sewage sludge with different moisture content were thoroughly studied. The results indicated that, under the optimal conditions of BEOP, the adhesive stress of sludge with moisture content of 35%, 45%, 60% and 70% was reduced by 40.4%, 54.5%, 31%, and 24.4%, respectively. The migrations of water, ions and organic matters were also investigated to explore the functional mechanism of BEOP. The results showed that the water migrated from the anode side to the cathode side, whereas the organic matters migrated in the opposite direction. The increment of the sludge moisture content on the cathode surface was reduced with the increase of distance away from the anode. Based on theoretical modeling, the distributions of current density and temperature in sludge cake were obtained. The current flowed from anode to cathode and decayed quickly with the increase of the flowing distance, which well explained the moisture content distribution in sludge cake.Currently, research agenda in marine ecotoxicology is facing new challenges with the emergence of newly and complex synthetized chemicals. Regarding those, it is necessary to update methodologies dealing with these issues such as combined effect of conventional and emergent stressors and global changes. In this point of view article, we discuss one hand the new challenges of ecotoxicology in this context, and in the other hand, the need of updating agenda and methodologies currently used in monitoring programs and finally recommendations and future research needs. Among recommendations, it could be cited the necessity to perform long-term experiments, the standardization of sentinel species and taking benefit from baseline studies and omics technologies.
