0% (33/183) vs. 34.6% (62/179), P=0.0025] and right colon serrated polyp miss rate [17.4% (27/155) vs. 39.3% (33/84), P=0.002]. Multivariate logistic regression analysis showed that WE was an independent predictor of rAMR (odds ratio, 0.42; 95% confidence interval, 0.21-0.86), and so was ≥2 adenomas in the right colon (odds ratio, 2.35; 95% confidence interval, 1.17-4.76). Whether the second colonoscopist guessed the insertion method correctly or not, and demographic and procedure variables were not associated with rAMR.

The randomized controlled trial validated unblinded observational data showing that WE significantly decreased rAMR and right colon serrated polyp miss rate (clinical trial registration number NCT03845933).

In an era of antibiotic resistance, modified dual therapy has been paid much attention because of simple drug composition and low resistance of amoxicillin. However, its eradication rate as a first-line regimen remains controversial. This study is to evaluate the efficacy and safety of modified dual therapy for the initial treatment of Helicobacter pylori (H. pylori) infection compared with mainstream first-line therapies.

PubMed, the Cochrane Library, and Embase were searched for randomized clinical trials evaluating the efficacy and safety of modified dual therapy as the initial treatment for H. pylori eradication compared with guideline-recommended first-line therapies. A meta-analysis was conducted using Review Manager 5.3 and dichotomous data were estimated by the risk ratio (RR) with the 95% confidence interval (CI). We also performed subgroup analysis according to control groups and studies with antibiotic susceptibility tests.

Eight studies including 1672 patients with H. pylori infection met ththerapy showed fewer side effects.

Modified dual therapy achieved equal efficacy and compliance compared with recommended first-line regimens for H. pylori infection, and generally modified dual therapy showed fewer side effects.

Autoimmune hepatitis (AIH) is a chronic, inflammatory disease of the liver with increasing prevalence. However, limited epidemiological data exist for the prevalence of AIH in the United States. We used a large database to describe the prevalence of AIH in the United States and the autoimmune diseases associated with it.

Data was collected from a commercial database (Explorys Inc., Cleveland, OH), an aggregate of Electronic Health Record data from 26 major integrated health care systems in the United States. We identified a cohort of patients with a diagnosis of AIH from April 2014 to April 2019 based on a Systemized Nomenclature of Medicine-Clinical Terms and calculated the prevalence of AIH. Of the 37,161,280 individuals active in the database from April 2014 to 2019, we identified 11,600 individuals with a diagnosis of AIH with an overall prevalence rate of 31.2/100,000. The prevalence of AIH was increased in females compared with males [odds ratio (OR)=3.21, P<0.0001], elderly (aged above 65 y) compared with adults (aged 18 to 65 y) and children (aged below 18 y) (OR=2.51, P<0.0001) and whites compared with African Americans, Asians, and Hispanics (OR=1.12, P<0.0001). Moreover, patients with AIH were more likely to have Sjögren syndrome, systemic lupus erythematosus, ulcerative colitis, celiac disease, rheumatoid arthritis, Crohn's disease, and autoimmune thyroiditis as compared with patients without AIH.

We found that the estimated prevalence of AIH in the United States is 31.2/100,000, which is comparable to the reported prevalence of AIH in Europe. We confirmed that AIH has a strong association with other autoimmune diseases studied in the literature.

The goal of this study was to determine the prevalence and characteristics of chronic hepatitis C (CHC) among Asian Americans compared with other ethnicities.

Chronic hepatitis C virus (HCV) affects an estimated 2.7 million in the United States, but there are limited data on HCV among Asian Americans.

A total of 3,369,881 adults over the age of 18 who were patients of the integrated health care system in Southern California and 4903 Asian participants at community hepatitis screenings were included in a cross-sectional study. Variables included HCV serology, HCV genotype, comorbidities, and coinfections.

The prevalence of CHC was 1.3% in the general population (8271 adults) and 0.6% among Asians. The prevalence of CHC was significantly higher in the 1945-1965 birth cohort with 2.7% (5876) in the general population and 1.0% (313) among Asians (P<0.001). Ubiquitin chemical Asians had the highest rates of hepatitis B coinfection (2.9% vs. 0.2%, P<0.001). The distribution of genotypes among Asians differed from the general population with the most common genotype being 1b (27.5%) and a higher presence of genotype 6 (9.5%) (P<0.001). The presence of cirrhosis was 17.6% in Asians. Disaggregated Asian data showed that CHC was highest among Vietnamese and Cambodian and that genotype 6 was predominant among these 2 subgroups.

The prevalence of chronic HCV was significantly lower in Asians compared with other ethnicities. However, disaggregated data among Asians showed the highest prevalence rates among adults from Vietnam and Cambodia.

Acute kidney injury (AKI) is a common complication in critically ill patients. Understanding the pathophysiology of AKI is essential to guide patient management. Imaging techniques that inform the pathogenesis of AKI in critically ill patients are urgently needed, in both research and ultimately clinical settings. Renal contrast-enhanced ultrasonography (CEUS) and multiparametric MRI appear to be the most promising imaging techniques for exploring the pathophysiological mechanisms involved in AKI.

CEUS and MRI can be used to noninvasively and safely evaluate renal macrocirculation and microcirculation and oxygenation in critical ill patients. These techniques show that a decrease in renal blood flow, particularly cortical blood flow, may be observed in septic AKI and may contribute to its development. MRI may be a valuable method to quantify long-term renal damage after AKI that cannot currently be detected using standard clinical approaches.

CEUS and multiparametric renal MRI are promising imaging techniques but more evidence is needed to show how they can first be more widely used in a research setting to test key hypotheses about the pathophysiology and recovery of AKI, and then ultimately be adopted in clinical practice to guide patient management.
