However, all concretes could be applicable for structural purposes under different environmental exposure conditions. In particular, concretes with 10% RP and 20% RP showed better cost-benefits compared to natural aggregate concrete with 100% ordinary Portland cement. These promising findings provide valuable initiatives for the effective and complete recycling of C&D waste.Polyether-ether-ketone (PEEK), with its superior mechanical, chemical, and thermal properties, as well as high biocompatibility, has been used in aerospace, electronics, and biomedical applications. In this paper, a large number of experiments of single-pulse laser drilling on PEEK were performed to analyze the hole morphology and keyhole evolution, which were characterized by an optical microscope, charge-coupled device (CCD), and high-speed camera. A novel method is proposed to observe and measure the dimension of the processed hole rapidly right after laser drilling for special polymer materials with wear-resistance and non-conductivity. Morphological characteristics of holes are presented to illustrate the effect of pulse width and peak power on hole depth, hole diameter, and aspect-ratio. The obtained maximum drilling depth was 7.06 mm, and the maximum aspect-ratio was 23. In situ observations of the dynamic process of laser drilling, including the keyhole evolution together with ejection and vaporizatioof PEEK but also gives a guide for the manufacturing of other polymers. From the mechanical function of grabbing objects to the emotional aspect of gesturing, the functionality of human hands is fundamental for both physical and social survival. Therefore, the loss of one or both hands represents a devastating issue, exacerbated by long rehabilitation times and psychological treatments. Prosthetic arms represent an effective solution to provide concrete functional and esthetical support. However, commercial hand prostheses still lack an optimal combination of light weight, durability, adequate cosmetic appearance, and affordability. Among these aspects, the priority for upper-limb prosthesis users is weight, a key parameter that influences both the portability and the functionality of the system. The purpose of this work is to optimize the design of the MyHand prosthesis, by redesigning both the proximal and distal finger and thumb in light of finding an optimal balance between weight reduction and adequate stiffness. Starting from elastic-plastic numerical models and experimental tests on obsolete components, analyzed under the worst loading condition, five different design solutions are suggested. An iterative topology optimization process locates the regions where material removal is permitted. From these results, 2 mm geometrical patterns on the top surface of the hand prosthesis appear as the most prominent, preventing object intrusion.Ball shear testing is an efficient approach to investigate the mechanical reliability of solder joints at the structural level. In the present study, a series of low-speed ball shear tests were conducted to study the deformation and fracture characteristics of Sn96.5Ag3Cu0.5 solder joints at continuous speeds from 10 μm/s to 200 μm/s. In order to account for randomness, the quantity of tests was repeated for each shear rate. The relationship between mechanical properties and shear speeds was calculated in detail via effective statistical analysis. In addition, by utilizing SEM imaging and ingredient analysis the interfacial effect and fracture mechanism of solder balls were obtained and their fracture mode classified into two types, viz., bulk fracture and interface fracture. Furthermore, by means of statistical analysis and approximate calculation it was proven that bulk fracture balls have greater adhesive powers and reliability compared with interface fracture balls.Highly efficient optical diffraction can be realized with the help of micrometer-thin liquid crystal (LC) layers with a periodic modulation of the director orientation. Electrical tunability is easily accessible due to the strong stimuli-responsiveness in the LC phase. By using well-designed photoalignment patterns at the surfaces, we experimentally stabilize two dimensional periodic LC configurations with switchable hexagonal diffraction patterns. The alignment direction follows a one-dimensional periodic rotation at both substrates, but with a 60° or 120° rotation between both grating vectors. The resulting LC configuration is studied with the help of polarizing optical microscopy images and the diffraction properties are measured as a function of the voltage. The intricate bulk director configuration is revealed with the help of finite element Q-tensor simulations. Twist conflicts induced by the surface anchoring are resolved by introducing regions with an out-of-plane tilt in the bulk. This avoids the need for singular disclinations in the structures and gives rise to voltage induced tuning without hysteretic behavior. The mucocele is the most common minor salivary gland associated disease of the oral cavity. It is also considered one of the most common biopsied oral lesions in pediatric patients. In recent years, extensive evidence has been published about the usage of lasers in treating mucoceles in pediatric patients. The aim of the present study was to assess the effectiveness of laser irradiation in the treatment of pediatric mucocele. An electronic search of databases (PubMed, Scopus, Web of Science and Google Scholar) was carried out in order to identify all relevant articles using a combination of the following keywords "Pediatric", "Oral", "Mucocele", "Dental", "Oral Medicine", "Soft Dental Lasers", "Hard Dental Lasers", and "Lasers," for all case reports, case series, case-control and cohort studies published from 2007 to 2021. After limiting the search results, removing duplicate titles, and eligibility evaluation, 17 papers were enrolled in the study. Out of the total studies included, 10 articles were related to the diode (635 nm, 808 nm, 810 nm, and 980 nm), 5 to CO2 (10,600 nm), 3 to Er, Cr YSGG (2780 nm), and 1 involving KTP lasers (532 nm). All studies indicated successful clinical results on mucocele excision with better intra- and post-operative indicators. The general characteristics and outcomes were summarized, and the quality of the studies was assessed using CARE guidelines in this systematic review. The reduction or absence of pain and bleeding, hemostasis, reduced operating time, minimal analgesic consumption, and an antibacterial effect were among the advantages of laser irradiation in the included studies. The laser has proven itself to play an effective role in the treatment of oral mucocele in paediatric patients.Ag/Y2O3 has excellent potential to replace Ag/CdO as the environmentally friendly electrical contact material. Using spherical Y2O3 as the starting material, Ag/Y2O3 contacts with a quasi-continuous network structure were successfully fabricated by a low-energy ball milling treatment. The mean size of Y2O3 used ranged from 243 to 980 nm. Due to the differences in the size of Y2O3, Ag/Y2O3 contacts had different primitive microstructures, thereby exhibiting distinctive anti-arc-erosion capabilities. Ag/Y2O3 contact prepared using 243 nm Y2O3 showed the best anti-arc-erosion capability and the most outstanding electrical performance measures, such as low contact resistance, less mass transfer, and no failure up to 105 cycle times. The quasi-continuous network structure formed in the micro-scale was responsible for the excellent electrical performance. The short distance between Y2O3 particles in the network promoted the cathode arc motion, and thus alleviated the localized erosion. The results obtained herein may inspire further attempts to design electrical contacts rationally. This article presents research related to the transformation of geraniol (GA), leading to the formation of products with very valuable properties. In the planned method, heterogeneous catalysts of natural origin in the form of alum and diatomite were used as catalysts. Initially, the process which we investigated was the process of isomerization of GA, but it turned out during the studies that GA is also transformed in other reactions. Before catalytic tests, these two minerals were subjected to detailed instrumental analyses using the following methods XRD, SEM/EDX, XRF and FTIR, which allowed to obtain their full morphological characteristics. During the catalytic tests, the influence of such relevant parameters on the GA transformations was determined temperature from 80 to 150 °C, catalyst content from 5 to 15% by weight and the reaction time from 15 min to 24 h. The tests presented in the article were carried out under atmospheric pressure (in air) as well as without the use of a solvent. The optimal conditions for the transformations of GA were determined on the basis of its conversion and selectivities of transformation to the main products in the form of beta-pinene (BP), 6,11-dimethyl-2,6,10-dodecatriene-1-ol (DC) and thumbergol (TH). The above products were formed with the highest selectivity, respectively 100 mol%, 50 mol% and 52 mol%. The results of the syntheses showed that for GA the best transformation results were obtained at the temperature of 80 °C (for both tested catalysts), with the catalyst content of 1 wt % (for both tested catalysts) and for the reaction time of 1 h (for diatomite)) and 3 h (for alum). We report on X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy and ab initio electronic structure investigations of the skutterudite-related R5Rh6Sn18 superconductors, where R = Sc, Y, and Lu. These compounds crystallise with a tetragonal structure (space group I41/acd) and are characterised by a deficiency of R atoms in their formula unit (R5-δRh6Sn18, δ≪1). Recently, we documented that the vacancies δ and atomic local defects (often induced by doping) are a reason for the enhancement in the superconducting transition temperature Tc of these materials, as well as metallic (δ=0) or semimetallic (δ≠0) behaviours in their normal state. Our band structure calculations show the pseudogap at a binding energy of -0.3 eV for the stoichiometric compounds, which can be easily moved towards the Fermi level by vacancies δ. As a result, dychotomic nature in electric transport of R5Rh6Sn18 (metallic or semimetallic resistivity) depends on δ, which has not been interpreted before. We have shown that the densities of states are very similar for various R5Rh6Sn18 compounds, and they practically do not depend on the metal R, while they are determined by the Rh d-and Sn s- and p-electron states. The band structure calculations for Sc5Rh6Sn18 have not been reported yet. We also found that the electronic specific heat coefficients γ0 for the stoichiometric samples were always larger with respect to the γ0 of the respective samples with vacancies at the R sites, which correlates with the results of ab initio calculations.Risk management and uncertainty models are practised in all branches of transport. Although unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) constitute a branch of the industry rather than transport as a whole, their development is oriented toward increasingly more serious applications involving the transport of goods and people. The constantly growing number of operations employing UAVs requires not only identification of hazard sources or risk assessment recommended by the applicable regulations, but also comprehensive risk management. In order to develop a systematic approach to risk management for air operations of UAVs, the classic risk management method can be used. MYCi975 mouse This work proposes a novel multi-criteria risk model that may serve as the basis for further activities aimed at developing a risk management method for this domain. The model was based on six criteria and validated using a virtual route to risk assessment and valuation.
