Between 62.9% to 96% of participants agreed/strongly agreed with learning new concepts related to ACEs and their symptoms. Qualitative data indicated that participants were able to recognize stress symptoms in students and in themselves and integrate strategies learned such as breathing and creating safe space to allow students to have voice and choice.
TIC training curriculum that includes ACEs and toxic stress science is a critical component that promotes recognition of trauma symptoms in themselves and others. Self-reflective practice using narratives is an essential training tool for implementing TIC.

Innovative, nanotechnologies-featuring dental materials for CAD/CAM applications are becoming available. However, the interaction with the oral environment poses critical challenges to their longevity. The present study evaluated specific physical-chemical properties and antimicrobial potential of a CAD/CAM graphene-doped resin before and after accelerated aging protocols.
Graphene nanofibers (GNF)-doped (<50ppm) PMMA (GPMMA) and control PMMA CAD/CAM discs were used. Specimens underwent aging procedures of their bulk (thermo- and load-cycling) and surface (24h-immersion in absolute ethanol), then they were tested for flexural strength, ultimate tensile strength, sorption/solubility, and methyl-methacrylate elution. Surface characterization included x-ray diffraction, Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy, X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy, surface roughness, microhardness, and scanning electron microscopy (SEM). Adherence of Streptococcus mutans and Candida albicans, and biofilm formation (continuous-on induced by aging on the antimicrobial potential of PMMA resin.
Glial fibrillary acidic protein (GFAP) in plasma is an established biomarker of traumatic brain injury (TBI) in humans. Plasma extracellular DNA (ecDNA) is a very sensitive, although nonspecific marker of tissue damage including TBI. Whether plasma GFAP or ecDNA could be used as an early non-invasive biomarker in the mouse model of closed head injury is unknown. The aim of this paper was to describe the early dynamics of plasma GFAP and ecDNA in the animal model of closed head TBI.
Closed head TBI was induced using the weight-drop method in 40 adult CD1 mice and blood was collected in different time points (1, 2 or 3h) after TBI in different groups of mice. Plasma GFAP and ecDNA and ecDNA fragmentation from the experimental groups were compared to healthy controls. In the surviving mice, a static rods test was performed 30 days after TBI to assess the neurological outcome of TBI.
Despite a trend of higher plasma GFAP after TBI the differences between the groups were not statistically significant. Plasma ecDNA was higher by 50% after 1h (P<0.05) and 2h (P<0.05) after TBI and was highly variable after 3h. Plasma ecDNA, but not GFAP, was partially predictive of the neurological impairment of the mice.
In this study, we have described the early dynamics of plasma GFAP and ecDNA after TBI in mice. According to our results, ecDNA in plasma is a more sensitive early marker of TBI than GFAP. Analysis of tissue-specific ecDNA might improve its predictive value regarding the survival and neurobehavioral outcome.

Testosterone replacement and associated pharmacologic agents are effective strategies to treat male hypogonadism; however, nutraceutical agents and lifestyle modification approaches have gained medical interest. The purpose of this scoping review is to highlight the evidence (or lack thereof) of nutraceuticals and lifestyle modification approaches in the management of testosterone levels and sperm parameters.
A scoping review of nonpharmacologic interventions (supplements, herbal medicines, diets, sleep, and exercise) with the potential to improve male health was undertaken to elucidate changes in testosterone levels and sperm parameters in men with hypogonadism or infertility compared with healthy patients.
A multitude of nutraceuticals and functional nutrients are purported to stimulate testosterone production; however, only a select few have had promising results, such as zinc, vitamin D (in case of hypovitaminosis D), l-arginine, mucuna, and ashwagandha, based on well-controlled randomized clinical to health, the use of nutraceuticals, if considered, must be personalized by physicians and/or registered dietitians.
A limited number of supplements and herbal medicines can be considered as adjunctive approaches in the management of testosterone levels and sperm parameters, primarily in men with low testosterone levels and infertility, whereas most nonpharmacologic supplements appear to lack evidence. Although proper physical exercise, sleep, and diet are indisputable approaches because of the general benefits to health, the use of nutraceuticals, if considered, must be personalized by physicians and/or registered dietitians.Statins, or 3-hydroxy-3-methylglutaryl coenzyme A reductase inhibitors, are the mainstay of treatment for hypercholesterolemia as they effectively reduce LDL-C levels and risk of atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease. Apart from hyperglycemia, dyslipidemia and HDL dysfunction are known risk factors for neuropathy in people with obesity and diabetes. Although there are case reports of statin-induced neuropathy, ad hoc analyses of clinical trials and observational studies have shown that statins may improve peripheral neuropathy. However, large randomized controlled trials and meta-analyses of cardiovascular outcome trials with statins and other lipid-lowering drugs have not reported on neuropathy outcomes. Because neuropathy was not a prespecified outcome in major cardiovascular trials, one cannot conclude whether statins or other lipid-lowering therapies increase or decrease the risk of neuropathy. The aim of this review was to assess if statins have beneficial or detrimental effects on neuropathy and whether there is a need for large well-powered interventional studies using objective neuropathy end points. The unmanned ground vehicle (UGV) travels in complex and uncertain terrain. Its vertical stability is a key factor affecting the working state and service life of high-sensitivity on-board sensors and mechanical structures. Eltanexor mw With the development of unmanned platform, a six-wheel independent drive UGV (6WID UGV) came into being. Its complex operating conditions and the unique configuration of active hydro-pneumatic suspension (AHPS) put forward higher requirements for vertical stability control. Based on the AHPS of 6WID UGV, a revised active disturbance rejection sliding mode controller (R-ADRSMC) is designed to improve the vertical stability of UGV. Firstly, the dynamic model of AHPS was established, and a test platform was built to verify the accuracy of the nonlinear characteristics of stiffness and damping. Secondly, an extended state observer (ESO) is used to estimate the disturbance caused by the model's high nonlinearity and uncertainty. The known disturbance is fed back to ESO to form feedforward compensation, which improves the accuracy of disturbance estimation and compensation. Thirdly, the output of ESO is incorporated into the control law of the sliding mode controller (SMC), giving the control law real-time adaptive capability to the state of suspension system. Finally, the effectiveness of R-ADRSMC and its strong robustness to the uncertainty of road and load parameters are verified by simulation. The results show that compared with passive suspension (PS), active disturbance rejection control (ADRC), and SMC, the proposed R-ADRSMC can effectively improve the vertical stability of UGV under complex road conditions and has better control characteristics. We aim to develop a direct transcription approach for solving a notable category of optimal control problems governed by nonlinear fractional Fredholm integral equations having delays in both input and output signals. The foundation of the new methodology is based on a multi domains decomposition scheme by utilizing the fractional-order Legendre functions. A new fractional derivative operator associated with the fractional basis is introduced by using the Caputo fractional derivative operator. With the use of derivative and delay operators, one can transform the dynamical system related to the fractional control problem into a new system containing algebraic equations. A wide variety of challenging test problems are studied to provide a detailed explanation of the designed approach.Virtual sensors play an important role in real-time sensing of key quality-related variables in industrial processes. Linear dynamical system (LDS) paradigm has established itself as a powerful tool for developing dynamic virtual sensors. However, there are still some practically pivotal issues unresolved, such as how to improve the generalization reliability and accuracy when accounting for the time delays and how to broaden the application sphere by breaking their limitations to linear processes. Motivated by dealing with these challenging issues this paper proposes a virtual sensing framework called 'localized LDS (LoLDS)'. In the LoLDS framework, the process dynamics and nonlinearities are taken into consideration from different scales without increasing the model complexity, and the time delays are intelligently optimized which triggers the model inconsistency by a designed diversified localization scheme at the offline stage. Moreover, an adaptive online model switch scheme is developed to enable the real-timely best LDS models to be responsible to predict the quality variables. The offline and online operations together enable the LoLDS to improve the generalization performance of the dynamic virtual sensor. The LoLDS framework is highly automated, and its performance has been extensively evaluated by two real-life industrial processes, showing very promising application foregrounds.Morphological filtering shows effectiveness in vibration signal analysis because of its simplicity and efficiency. Considering that different structural elements have different effects on filtering results, a new multi-scale morphological filtering (MMF) method called selective weighted multi-scale morphological filter (SWMMF) is developed for integrating results of different scales based on adaptive weighting strategy. Firstly, four morphological operators (dilation-closing, closing-dilation, erosion-opening and opening-erosion) are integrated into a new combination difference morphological filter to strengthen effect of faulty component extraction. Secondly, this new morphological filter is further extended to multiple scales in order to overcome limitation of single scale filter. Finally, the filtered results of different scales are adaptively combined by using the whale optimization algorithm (WOA)-based selective weighting method. The effectiveness of multi-scale filter and selective weights is proved by comparing with single-scale and average weighting filter on simulation and real-world cases (bearing vibration signals with different defects).
