These findings emphasize the potential role of temporal mechanisms in the emergence of the masking phenomenon. Additionally, our findings validate our phenomenological approach by demonstrating similar neural correlates of temporal integration and segregation as in performance-based tasks. Future research may profit from our phenomenological approach to disentangle the (neural) interplay between temporal and masking mechanisms.

The COVID-19 pandemic led to the prioritization of breast cancer services towards patients who are currently in treatment or diagnosed with advanced stages of breast cancer, and the self-assessment of both tumor growth and treatment side effects. Alongside the stress associated with cancer itself, delays and complications due to COVID-19 may impact patients' mental health.

To describe the experiences of Canadians living with breast cancer who received a diagnosis and/or treatment during the pandemic, and to identify their recommendations for improving patients well-being during future pandemics.

Semi-structured interviews were conducted with eighteen women living with breast cancer who also completed the Distress Thermometer questionnaire. The transcripts were analyzed using a descriptive thematic content methodology.

Women who started their breast cancer screening or treatment before the pandemic reported fewer delays and less psychological distress than those who started during the pandemic. Partici strategies that promote the delivery of compassionate, patient-centred care and the provision of psychological support during future pandemics are identified.

Patients with Parkinson's disease (PD) have been documented with disrupted dynamic profiles of functional connectivity. However, the complementary information that is relevant to the dynamic pattern of global synchronization in patients with PD requires further investigation.

To reveal the aberrant dynamic profiles of global synchronization involved in PD with a focus on temporal variability, strength, and property.

A total of 46 patients with PD and 50 matched healthy controls (HCs) were enrolled. Degree centrality (DC) was used as the metric of global synchronization. The intergroup differences in the dynamic DC (dDC) pattern were compared, followed by further analysis of their clinical relevance in PD.

Relative to HCs, the PD group showed decreased dDC variability in right inferior occipital gyrus, right insula, right middle occipital gyrus (MOG), and bilateral postcentral gyrus. The dDC variability in the MOG was significantly correlated with MoCA score. Two states (state I and state II) were suggested. Relative to HCs, the PD group demonstrated a shorter mean dwell time (MDT) in state I, a longer MDT in state II, and fewer transitions. For the PD group, dDC properties were significantly correlated with UPDRS-III scores. In state II, significantly decreased dynamic dDC strength in bilateral supplementary motor area was observed in the PD group, with a significant correlation with UPDRS-III scores.

These findings on PD imply that dynamic alterations of global synchronization are engaged in the dysfunction of movement and cognition, deepening the understanding of deteriorations that underlie PD with complementary evidence.

Imaging findings of both anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) sprain and mucoid degeneration overlap in some cases, which may cause errors in magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) evaluation.

MRI scans of 77 patients with ACL mucoid degeneration and 77 cases with ACL sprain were retrospectively evaluated to compare with regard to parameters of age, sex, side, the status of posterior cruciate ligament - medial collateral ligament - lateral collateral ligament, bone marrow edema, intraosseous cyst, subchondral sclerosis, chondromalacia, meniscus tear, effusion, and osteochondral body. A decision tree algorithm was created to predict pathology in ACL, whether it was a sprain or mucoid degeneration.

Although endemic to much of the global population, few studies have examined Helicobacter pylori (H.pylori) in US refugee populations. This study investigates the prevalence of H.pylori infection and barriers to treatment in the International Family Medicine Clinic (IFMC), a primary care refugee clinic, in central Virginia.

We conducted a chart review of 188 refugee patients of the IFMC who were referred for an H.pylori test between January 1, 2019, and December 31, 2020. Recorded measures included patient demographics, H.pylori test result, treatment of initial infection, completion of test of cure (TOC), TOC results, salvage therapy, and barriers to treatment. Binary logistic regression was performed to examine the association between demographic factors and H.pylori test results.

Of the 171 patients who completed an H.pylori test, 94 tested positive (54.9%). Of the 93 patients that were subsequently treated, 76 were treated with clarithromycin triple therapy (82%). Forty-eight patients (52%) completeate for the United States, which is consistent with previous studies. Entrustable professional activities (EPAs) are tasks that a person who is qualified or is in the process to be credentialed are allowed to engage. There are several levels of entrustment based on degrees of supervision assigned to each EPA. This paper aims to describe the process and outcome of creating EPAs; validate EPAs relevant to undergraduate dental training.

A draft set of EPA statements was developed based on the consensus of an expert panel. These were then mapped to the nationally determined minimum experience thresholds (clinical and procedural experiences/competencies) and aligned to task-based instructional strategy. The EPAs were validated to improve the relevance by using a criterion-based rubric.

An end-to-end process workflow led to the development of an EPA-based educational framework to bridge the gaps in the curriculum. The process identified a total of 41 EPAs and out of which, 10 EPAs were notated as core EPAs and will be subjected to structured workplace-based assessment complying to the national standards. The validation exercise rated core EPAs with an overall score matching close to the cut-off of 4.07 (Equal rubric).

The end-to-end process workflow provided the opportunity to elaborate a structured process for the development of EPAs for undergraduate dental education. As validation is a continuous process, feedback from implementation will inform the next steps.

Use of immunomodulating therapeutics for immune-mediated inflammatory diseases may cause disease-drug-drug interactions (DDDIs) by reversing inflammation-driven alterations in the metabolic capacity of cytochrome P450 enzymes. European Medicine Agency (EMA) and US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) guidelines from 2007 recommend that the DDDI potential of therapeutic proteins should be assessed. This systematic analysis aimed to characterize the available DDDI trials with immunomodulatory drugs, experimental evidence for a DDDI risk and reported DDDI risk information in FDA/EMA approved drug labelling.

To explore the clinical value of echocardiography in the assessment of left ventricular diastolic function in patients with acute pulmonary embolism (APE).

APE patients in our hospital from June 2019 to June 2021 were selected as the observation group. They were divided into low-risk group (19 cases), medium-risk group (16 cases) and high-risk group (15 cases). The non-APE people in our hospital during the same period were selected as the control group. All subjects underwent echocardiography to observe the performance of APE patients under echocardiography. The peak velocity ratio S-wave/D-wave (S/D), early diastolic annular velocity/advanced diastolic annular velocity (Ea/Aa), early filling/early diastolic annular velocity (E/Ea), and early filling/early diastolic annular velocity (E/Ea) were compared with Ar and Vp, respectively; receiver operator characteristic (ROC) curve was used to evaluate the value of echocardiography in evaluating left ventricular diastolic function in patients with APE.
