TiO2 hollow nanosphere (HNS) are prepared via NaCl templates in a one-pot approach. The NaCl templates are realized by solvent/anti-solvent strategies and coated with TiO2via controlled hydrolysis of Ti-alkoxides. The NaCl template can be easily removed by washing with water, and the TiO2 HNS are finally impregnated with Pd/Pt. Electron microscopy shows TiO2 HNS with an outer diameter of 140-180 nm, an inner cavity of 80-100 nm, and a wall thickness of 30-40 nm. 2Hydroxybenzylamine The TiO2 HNS exhibit high surface area (up to 370 m2 g-1) and pore volume (up to 0.28 cm3 g-1) with well-distributed small Pd/Pt nanoparticles (Pt 3-4 nm, Pd 3-7 nm). H2O2 direct synthesis (room temperature, liquid phase) and CO oxidation (up to 300 °C, gas phase) are used to probe the catalytic properties and result in a good stability of the HNS structure as well as a promising performance with a H2O2 selectivity of 63% and a productivity of 3390 mol kgPd-1 h-1 (TiO2-Pd HNS, 5 wt%) as well as CO oxidation light-out temperatures of 150 °C (TiO2-Pt HNS, 0.7 wt%).In recent decades, humans have faced greater challenges in reproduction. Assisted reproductive technology is the most prominent approach for addressing this problem. Current clinical screening methods simply consider the motility or morphology of the sperm. However, as the spermatozoa need to navigate over a long distance in the female reproductive tract and survive the natural screening processes therein, these methods are imperfect. Many approaches have been undertaken to study the chemotaxis and thermotaxis navigation behavior of spermatozoa, but few of these have involved integrated screening that considers motility, chemotaxis, and thermotaxis based on the biological environment of the human body. Current routine sperm evaluation techniques are inadequate and fail to simultaneously provide conclusive evidence for the thermotactic and chemotactic characteristics of sperm. Thus, such screening of functional spermatozoa will be an advancement in assisted reproduction. In this study, we developed a fully integrated biomimetic microfluidic system for screening sperm for their characteristics when exposed to temperature and chemical gradients. Based on our results, we showed that spermatozoa were attracted by temperature and chemical gradients in the physiological range. Moreover, we ascertained a suitable temperature gradient range for thermotaxis and statistically proved that the thermotactic and chemotactic responses are not linked. Here, we report the first quantitative study of functional sperm during thermotaxis and chemotaxis, and our analysis of the difference in motility caused by different conditions. More broadly, we foresee the clinical application of these biologically motivated parameters and characteristics in assisted reproduction in humans.Overall electrocatalytic water splitting can efficiently and sustainably produce clean hydrogen energy to alleviate the global energy crisis and environmental pollution. Two-dimensional (2D) materials with a unique band structure and surface conformation have emerged as promising electrocatalysts for the oxygen evolution reaction (OER) and hydrogen evolution reaction (HER). However, the intrinsic activities of primitive 2D materials in the catalytic process are still inferior to those of noble metal-based electrocatalysts. Surface defect engineering can modulate the electronic structure of 2D materials and induce new physicochemical properties, promoting their electrocatalytic performance. Herein, this minireview focuses on some recent developments in surface defect engineering, including the contribution of active sites, the derivation of the heterogeneous interface, and the anchoring of active substances, which provides an effective way to further optimize 2D electrocatalysts for water splitting. Furthermore, the typical morphological characteristics, catalytic activity, stability and catalytic mechanism of these 2D electrocatalysts are introduced. We believe that this minireview will help design more efficient and economical electrocatalysts for overall water splitting. The prevalence of stunting, wasting, overweight and their coexistence are various in different populations and they also have changed with social developing and environmental improving. In this paper, we aimed to analyze the prevalence of stunting, wasting, overweight and their coexistence in some developed regions of China. Data were collected in a population-based cross-sectional survey by a multi-stage cluster sampling method in nine cities located in the northern, central, and southern region of China in 2016. Children under seven years (n = 110,491) were measured. WHO growth standards were used to assess the growth status. Stunting, underweight, wasting, overweight and obesity were considered as the primary forms of malnutrition (includes undernutrition and overnutrition) for infant or young children at population-levels. The prevalence of stunting, underweight, wasting, and overweight or obesity were respectively 0.7%, 0.6%, 1.2%, and 7.6%. Most of these children (95.4%) suffered from one form of malnutrition, and only 0.2% of them concurrently stunted and wasted, 0.4% concurrently stunted and overweight, 1.7% concurrently stunted and underweight, 2.3% concurrently underweight and wasted. Among stunted children, 91.2% were appropriate body proportion, and only 2.3% were wasted, 6.5% were overweight or obesity. Among overweight or obese children, only 0.6% were stunted, whereas, 15.8% were high stature and 83.6% were the appropriate ranges of stature. Sex, age, urban/suburban, and region were associated with these primary forms of malnutrition in the multivariate logistic analysis. In conclusion, we found that the coexistence of stunting and overweight was not common at both population-level and individual-level. The situation for undernutrition had significantly improved, and overweight may be the leading public health issue for children under seven years in the nine cities of China.

To assess the feasibility of the application of International Classification of Diseases-10-to perinatal mortality (ICD-PM) in a busy low-income referral hospital and determine the timing and causes of perinatal deaths, and associated maternal conditions.

Prospective application of ICD-PM.

Referral hospital of Mnazi Mmoja Hospital, Zanzibar, United Republic of Tanzania.

Stillbirths and neonatal deaths with a birth weight above 1000 grams born between October 16th 2017 to May 31st 2018.

Clinical information and an adapted WHO ICD-PM interactive excel-based system were used to capture and classify the deaths according to timing, causes and associated maternal complications. Descriptive analysis was performed.

Timing and causes of perinatal mortality and their associated maternal conditions.

There were 661 perinatal deaths of which 248 (37.5%) were neonatal deaths and 413 (62.5%) stillbirths. Of the stillbirths, 128 (31%) occurred antepartum, 129 (31%) intrapartum and for 156 (38%) the timing was unknown.
