Attention impulsivity was associated with the severity of SI. However, other impulsivity types, and interactions were not associated with a history of SI or SB. This suggests childhood emotion dysregulation is a potential target for prevention of SB in FEP, while trait impulsivity may be less important in this effort.Identifying predictors of suicide attempts is critical in intervention and prevention efforts, yet finding predictors has proven difficult due to the low base rate and underpowered statistical approaches. The objective of the current study was to use machine learning to examine predictors of suicidal behaviors among high-risk suicidal Soldiers who received outpatient mental health services in a randomized controlled trial of Brief Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for Suicide Prevention (BCBT) compared to treatment as usual (TAU). Self-report measures of clinical and demographic variables, administered prior to the start of outpatient treatment to 152 participants with recent suicidal thoughts and/or behaviors were analyzed using machine learning software to identify the best combination of variables for predicting suicide attempts during or after treatment. Worst-point suicidal ideation, history of multiple suicide attempts, treatment group (i.e., BCBT or TAU), suicidogenic cognitions, and male sex were found, in combination, correctly classified 30.8% of patients who attempted suicide during the two-year follow-up period. This combination has higher sensitivity than many models that have previously been used to predict suicidal behavior. Overall, this study provides a combination of variables that can be assessed clinical to help identify high-risk suicidal individuals.Depression commonly emerges in adolescence and is a major public health issue in low- and middle-income countries where 90% of the world's adolescents live. Thus efforts to prevent depression onset are crucial in countries like Nigeria, where two-thirds of the population are aged under 24. Therefore, we tested the ability of a prediction model developed in Brazil to predict future depression in a Nigerian adolescent sample. Data were obtained from school students aged 14-16 years in Lagos, who were assessed in 2016 and 2019 for depression using a self-completed version of the Mini International Neuropsychiatric Interview for Children and Adolescents. Only the 1,928 students free of depression at baseline were included. Penalized logistic regression was used to predict individualized risk of developing depression at follow-up for each adolescent based on the 7 matching baseline sociodemographic predictors from the Brazilian model. Discrimination between adolescents who did and did not develop depression was better than chance (area under the curve = 0.62 (bootstrap-corrected 95% CI 0.58-0.66). However, the model was not well-calibrated even after adjustment of the intercept, indicating poorer overall performance compared to the original Brazilian cohort. Updating the model with context-specific factors may improve prediction of depression in this setting. In recent years, research focusing on childhood has reported that communication difficulties in autism spectrum disorder (ASD) are related to the social reciprocity difficulties inherent to ASD, as well as severe social anxiety and decreased verbal fluency. However, there have been no reports regarding these correlations and causal relationships in adulthood. The aim of this study was to reveal the effects of social reciprocity, social anxiety, and letter fluency on communicative behaviors in adults with ASD (n = 33, aged 18-43 years, mean age = 27.88 years) and to compare these to typically developing (TD) adults (n = 35, 19-40 years, mean age = 28.03 years). We validated a model using structural equation modeling in which social reciprocity not only directly affected communicative behaviors, but also indirectly affected communicative behaviors mediated by social anxiety and verbal fluency. The results of the structural equation modeling showed that communicative behaviors patterns differed between the ASD and TD groups, as the ASD group had high goodness of fit with the hypothesis model while the TD group had low goodness of fit. These findings signify that in ASD, in addition to problems in social reciprocity, social anxiety (fear) is a risk factor for worsening communicative behaviors difficulties.Risk factors for retained placenta (RP), as a common and economically important disorder, have been widely investigated. However, comprehensive studies are rare. Therefore, this study sought to identify herd-cow factors and their interactions on the risk of RP in Iranian dairy herds. The data were collected from nine Holstein dairy herds in Isfahan province, Iran. The final dataset included 154,048 records for 59,610 cows which calved between March 2011 and December 2018. A logistic regression model was used to separately analyze the risk factors and their interactions for RP in primiparous and multiparous cows. The average rate of RP was 12.3% (9.0-15.4%) at the herd level. The highest rate of RP was recorded in spring compared with other seasons. Regardless of calving season, occurrence of dystocia, stillbirth and twinning increased the odds ratio (OR) of RP. In primiparous cows, occurrence of dystocia and stillbirth increased OR of RP 4.30 and 3.33 times, respectively. In multiparous cows, dystocia, twinning and stillbirth increased OR of RP 4.36, 3.94 and 1.29 times, respectively. see more Cows with an age at first calving of >28 months had the highest rate of RP compared with other cows. Multiparous and primiparous cows with a short (less than 271 d) and long (more than 281 d) pregnancy, respectively, had the highest risk of RP compared to cows in other groups. Furthermore, multiparous cows with an extended dry period length (more than 75 d) and produced milk yield more than 13,000 kg/lactation were at higher risk of RP with an average of 13.5%. With an interaction analysis, although the potential effect of each factors depends on the effect of other factors, but in general dystocia, stillbirth, an extended age at first calving (>28 months), and calving during the spring increased risk of RP for both groups. In conclusion, identification of risk factors for RP with an interaction analysis can help farm managers to employ the best strategies to reduce the occurrence of this reproductive disorder.
