Selection of appropriate treatment processes for wastewater treatment (WWT) plants at the design stage involves a careful examination of different economic, environmental, and social parameters. Designers and decision-makers seek a compromise among such conflicting elements, which can be facilitated by decision support tools that are adapted for the ambiguity of individual opinions and decision parameters. This study aims to improve the qualification and efficiency of decision-making in WWT processes. A multi-stage framework is proposed to help select investments, technology, appropriate technology-specific system, and companies that apply such systems. The framework combines the Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP), Preference Ranking Organization Method for Enrichment Evaluation (PROMETHEE), cash flow analysis, and Technique for Order Preference by Similarity to Ideal Solution (TOPSIS) within fuzzy logic. The main contribution is the description and formation of an integrated framework to guide businesses and researchers for the evaluation of several WWT decision processes. To the best of the authors' knowledge, no study in the literature fuses multiple stages of this WWT process with the proposed approaches.Technostress during the COVID-19 pandemic has become more prevalent as a result of the global preventive measures applied to limit the spread of infection. These measures included remote working from home in both public and private organizations. The objective of this study is to study technostress and challenges of remote virtual work environment among university staff members at Menoufia University, Egypt. A cross-sectional study was conducted over Menoufia University academic staff members in Egypt. The participants were chosen from both practical and theoretical colleges in Menoufia University using a multistage random sample. Tarfadar technostress questionnaire was used. Cortisol blood level was measured for all participants. This study included 142 participants. The mean age of the group was 36.32±6.41 years. 52.1 percent worked in practical colleges, and 60.6% were lecturers or higher. Their mean cortisol level was 15.61±7.07mcg/dl. Participants who were females, reside in rural areas, held a lecturer or higher position, had poor work-environment WiFi, and lacked technical training had significantly higher levels of technostress subscales. Most of the technostress subscales were significantly correlated with age and blood cortisol levels. The predictors of work overload in multivariate regression were female gender and a work environment with poor WiFi. Female gender, theoretical colleges, being lecturer or higher, and poor WiFi were the predictors for invasion. Among university staff members, technostress was found to be evident. High levels of technostress were significantly influenced by age, higher professions, female gender, and a bad workplace environment.Carbon dioxide emission and GHGs are associated with fossil fuels which have adverse effects on the environment. The key intention of this paper was to determine the asymmetric effect of CO2 emission on expenditures, trade, FDI, and renewable energy consumption in Pakistan. An asymmetrical technique (nonlinear autoregressive distributed lag) was employed to validate the constructive and adverse relation among variables. Furthermore, the Granger causality test was also used to verify the unidirectional association amid variables. Study outcomes revealed that the adverse shocks of renewable energy consumption exposed expressively to upsurge CO2 emission in the short-run dynamics. Conversely, constructive shocks of renewable energy consumption display an adversative association with CO2 emission. Furthermore, the decreasing trend in foreign direct investment tends to impede the detrimental effects of CO2 emission. Additionally, the variable expenditures also create the non-eco-friendly impacts and manifest the positive linkage through CO2 emission. Trade possesses statistically insignificant linkage with environmental degradation. The results also disclose that positive as well as negative variations in the foreign direct investment expose to degrade the environmental eminence. Long-run results suggest the direct association between downward trend in renewable energy consumption and CO2 emission signifying that the pollution level decreases, and the upward trend in renewable energy consumption, however, demonstrates insignificantly positive effects. The results also disclose that positive as well as negative variations in the FDI lead to degrade the CO2 emission. Moreover, it is found that the expenditures soar the issue of pollution again in the long run. Finally, the consequence of trade on CO2 emission is adverse, as the outcome suggests. In order to improve the environmental policies for sustainable growth, the study provides direction toward a sustainable environment by reducing carbon dioxide emission.Surface sediments collected from twelve stations in the Boka Kotorska Bay were analyzed for the level and distribution of twenty-six elements and ten oxides, grain sizes, organic matter, and carbonate content. Potentially toxic elements (Al, Fe, Mn, Cr, Zn, Ni, Cu, Pb, As, Co, U) were determined to assess the contamination status and potential environmental risk according to the single-element indices (enrichment factor (EF), geoaccumulation index (Igeo), contamination factor (CF)), and combined index (pollution load index (PLI)). The single-element indices EF and CF revealed that the surface marine sediment was moderately polluted with Pb, Cu, and Cr, while Igeo indicated moderate pollution with Ni > Cr > Zn > Cu > As and moderate to heavy pollution with Pb, as a result of the anthropogenic factors. (E/Z)-BCI molecular weight The method of the combined effect of toxic elements, PLI, showed the highest pollution rate at the shipyard location in the Bay of Tivat. Pearson's correlation coefficient (r), principal component analysis (PCA), and cluster analysis (CA) were applied to highlight similarities and differences in the distribution of the investigated elements in the Bay, confirming the claim obtained by the pollution indices. The sediment contamination with most heavy metals, such as Cr, Zn, Ni, Cu, Pb, and As, has been identified in the Tivat Bay area. Many studies on the toxicity of nanoparticles (NPs) have reported different levels of toxicity for various types of NPs. This study aimed to examine the morpho-ultrastructural impact of iron oxide (Fe3O4) NPs on seed germination in tobacco (Nicotiana tabacum var. Turkish) using different sizes and concentrations of nanoparticles. Seeds were allowed to germinate in the presence of (Fe3O4) NPs of three different sizes (5, 10, and 20 nm) at three different concentrations 3, 10, and 30 mg/L for each size. Seeds were assessed using light and transmission microscopy. Radical lengths and seed germination rate were significantly affected (positively or negatively) in all NPs-treated seeds compared to control seeds. The radical lengths in 5 nm-treated seeds (30 mg/L concentration) and 10 nm-treated seeds (10 and 30 mg/L concentrations) were significantly shorter than control seeds. In contrast, the radical lengths in 10 nm-treated seeds (3 mg/L concentration) and 20 nm-treated seeds (10 mg/L concentration) were significantly longer than control seeds. Most NPs-treated seeds exhibited significant higher seed germination except for seeds treated with 5 nm NPs (3 mg/L concentration). Moreover, thick and thin micrographs of radicles and leaflets of 5 nm NPs-treated seeds (30 mg/L concentration) and 10 nm NPs (30 mg/L concentration) showed structural and ultrastructural deformation. Thus, these findings confirm that the toxicity and the bioaccumulation of (Fe3O4) NPs were size and concentration dependent. Two different extremophilic films were used as natural biosorbents to remove Cu(II), Ni(II), and Pb(II) from aqueous solutions. Surface area, scanning electron microscopy imaging, and Fourier transformation infrared spectroscopy were used to characterize the surfaces of the biosorbents. The results indicated high affinity of the biosorbents to remove Pb(II), Cu(II), and Ni(II), with adsorption rates ranging from 73.6 to 100% for both biosorbents. The biosorbents succeed in removing the metal ions from aqueous mixtures in the following order Pb(II) > Cu(II) > Ni(II). The maximum removal rates of metal ions were achieved at pH 6, contact time of 150 min, biosorbent dose of 2.5 g/L, and metal ion concentration of 50 mg/L. The isothermal studies showed that both Langmuir and Freundlich models well expressed the adsorption process. Kinetically, the pseudo-second-order reaction better expressed the type of reaction than the pseudo-first-order reaction.Epidemiological studies have established that noise from transportation sources exceeding the safe limits elevates the risk for cardiovascular diseases. The results however have remained heterogeneous. The present study was conducted to investigate the association between road traffic noise exposure and prevalence of coronary artery disease besides sub-group analysis was performed for identifying the most susceptible population. Traffic noise exposure was measured using the Lden metric in both continuous and categorical forms. A cross-sectional study was performed and information about sociodemographic, lifestyle, and health-related factors was collected. Noise level less then 60 dB(A) representing the quiet areas was used as the reference group. Univariate and multivariate logistic regressions were performed to estimate the odds for self-reported coronary artery disease concerning road traffic noise after adjusting for confounding variables. The residents living in noisy areas were found to have a 2.25 times higher risk per 5 dB(A) increment in the noise levels (95% CI = 1.38 to 3.67). Males were at a higher risk of CAD (OR = 2.61; 95% CI = 1.84 to 3.72) as compared to females (OR = 2.07; 95% CI = 1.37-3.13). The subgroup analysis revealed that being sensitive to noise, belonging to a higher age group, reporting higher stress levels, and poor sleep quality were associated with higher risk. The study also provides evidence that exposure to noise levels greater than 60 dB(A) is associated with the prevalence of coronary artery disease in adults. In this study, titania/silica nanocomposite and mesoporous TiO2 (m-TiO2) photocatalysts are developed by KIT-6 template via a sol-gel approach. The synthesized photocatalysts are characterized by XRD, EDX, SEM, Raman, PL, and UV-vis DRS analysis techniques. The as-synthesized series revealed a high surface area, smaller size, a greater number of accessible active sites, and enhanced light-harvesting capability. The m-TiO2 photocatalysts' charge recombination capability was curiously inferior to the rest of as-synthesized TiO2/KIT-6 nanocomposite materials. The band-gap of as-synthesized materials were suitable for their activity in UV light irradiations. It was pragmatic that the photocatalytic degradation efficiency of m-TiO2 photocatalysts was superior as compared to that of commercial TiO2 photocatalyst under UV light irradiations, owing to the synergistic outcome of the anatase phase and a greater number of accessible active-sites availability as a result of high surface area. Moreover, the m-TiO2 was critically evaluated by investigating various parameters affecting the photocatalytic degradation reaction of MB including the effect of irradiation time, pH, catalyst dosage, and dye concentration.
