The Rotterdam Prostate Cancer Risk calculator (RPCRC) has been validated in the past years. Recently a new version including multiparametric magnetic resonance imaging (mpMRI) data has been released. The aim of our study was to analyze the performance of the mpMRI RPCRC app.

A series of men undergoing prostate biopsies were enrolled in eleven Italian centers. Indications for prostate biopsy included abnormal Prostate specific antigen levels (PSA>4ng/ml), abnormal DRE and abnormal mpMRI. Patients' characteristics were recorded. Prostate cancer (PCa) risk and high-grade PCa risk were assessed using the RPCRC app. The performance of the mpMRI RPCRC in the prediction of cancer and high-grade PCa was evaluated using receiver operator characteristics, calibration plots and decision curve analysis.

Overall, 580 patients were enrolled 404/580 (70%) presented PCa and out of them 224/404 (55%) presented high-grade PCa. In the prediction of cancer, the RC presented good discrimination (AUC=0.74), poor calibration (p=0.01) and a clinical net benefit in the range of probabilities between 50 and 90% for the prediction of PCa (Fig.1). In the prediction of high-grade PCa, the RC presented good discrimination (AUC=0.79), good calibration (p=0.48) and a clinical net benefit in the range of probabilities between 20 and 80% (Fig.1).

Our cases indicate that SCC is expected to be a common and critical complication of ML and MPS. MRI evaluation of cervical involvements and careful clinical observation are required in patients with ML.

Sinonasal inverted papilloma is a benign tumor but has a potential for recurrence and malignant transformation. The aim of this article is to analyze the clinical characteristics of sinonasal inverted papilloma associated with recurrence and malignant transformation.

A retrospective study was performed in all patients with sinonasal inverted papilloma diagnosed between in our hospital during May 2013 and May 2018.

A total of 151 patients were enrolled in this study. The average age of these patients was 52.24 years, with a male-to-female ratio of 2.7751, and the most frequent clinical symptom was nasal obstruction. The recurrence rate was 39.07% (59/151), the mean time of recurrence was 35.8 months and most recurrences occur within the first three years after surgery. There was no significant difference in recurrence rate between all four stages and between after endoscopic surgery and a combined endoscopic and external approach. The malignant transformation rate was 5.96% (9/151) and the mean time of malignant transformation was 9.06 months.

LP rarely occurs in the larynx, where it presents as leukoplakia. Additionally, due to its responsiveness to corticosteroid drugs, differential diagnosis from other causes of laryngeal leukoplakia is needed (e.g., dysplasia and squamous cell carcinoma [SCC]). A 71 years old male smoker presented with progressive hoarseness and cough without fever. Vocal folds' motility was preserved. At fiberoptic laryngoscopy, he presented with bilateral cordal erythema and leukoplakia of the right true vocal fold. A sub-epithelial CO2 laser cordectomy was performed. Histological findings were consistent with mucosal LP. After surgical excision, the patient experienced symptomatic relief without medical treatment. A relapsing lesion became clinically evident six months later. A pinch biopsy was performed, and the histological examination confirmed the presence of laryngeal-LP. Hence, the patient underwent a 10-week corticosteroid-based treatment. After that, and during the subsequent 12 months of follow-up, the patient showed no signs of recurrence. LP is an exceedingly rare cause of leukoplakia in the larynx. Histological evaluation plays a key role in the diagnosis, in order to establish a proper therapeutic approach. We aimed to investigate the therapeutic effects of melatonin in an experimental AR model.

Thirty-two Wistar rats were randomised into four groups (n=8 each). The experimental AR model was established in the saline (SF), ethanol, and melatonin groups via intraperitoneal (i.p.) injections and intranasal application of ovalbumin. The SF, ethanol, and melatonin groups received daily i.p. saline, 2% ethanol dissolved in saline, and 10mg/kg melatonin dissolved in 2% ethanol and saline. The control group received the same amount of i.p. and intranasal saline. Total nasal symptom scores were recorded in all rats on days 1 (baseline), 15, 20, 25, and 30. Serum ovalbumin-specific IgE, IL-13, and melatonin levels were measured on days 1 (baseline), 15, and 30. The nasal mucosa of all rats was scored histopathologically.

The total nasal symptom scores and serum ovalbumin-specific IgE values of the SF, ethanol, and melatonin groups were significantly higher on day 15 than those of the control group. Fistula following hypospadias repair remains a bane for the hypospadiologist resulting in the evolution of various techniques. Despite all these, the incidence of postoperative fistula varies between 10 to 30% and it increases with the severity of the hypospadias. Hence, a study was conducted to evaluate the efficacy of tunica vaginalis flap in preventing fistula formation following severe hypospadias repair.

An observational study was carried out in a tertiary center between 2008 and 2017. The study included children with severe hypospadias (proximal penile, penoscrotal, scrotal, and perineal). In all the patients, a tunica-vaginalis flap was used to buttress the urethroplasty. All the patients were followed up for at least a year after the completion of treatment.
