It is well known that the clivus is composed of abundant cancellous bone and is often invaded by pituitary adenoma (PA), but the range of these cancellous bone corridors is unknown. In addition, we found that PA with clivus invasion is sometimes accompanied by petrous apex invasion, so we speculated that the petrous apex tumor originated from the clivus cancellous bone corridor. The aim of this study was to test this hypothesis by investigating the bony anatomy associated with PA with clival invasion and its clinical significance.

Twenty-two cadaveric heads were used in the anatomical study to research the bony architecture of the clivus and petrous apex, including six injected specimens for microsurgical dissection and sixteen cadavers for epoxy sheet plastination. The surgical videos and outcomes of PA with clival invasion in our single center were also retrospectively reviewed.

The hypoglossal canal and internal acoustic meatus are composed of bone canals surrounded by cortical bone. The cancellous clong the cancellous bone corridor and can also cross the hypoglossal canal to the occipital condyle. This clival invasion pattern presented here deepens our understanding of the invasive characteristics of PA.

The petrous apex invasion of PA is caused by the tumor invading the clivus and crossing the petroclival fissure along the cancellous bone corridor. PA invade the clivus along the cancellous bone corridor and can also cross the hypoglossal canal to the occipital condyle. This clival invasion pattern presented here deepens our understanding of the invasive characteristics of PA.

However, the in vivo anti-tumor effects and the action mechanism of casearlucin A remain poorly understood. Our study revealed that casearlucin A arrested cell cycle at G0/G1 stage and induced cell apoptosis in cell level. Additionally, casearlucin A inhibited HepG2 cell migration via regulating a few of metastasis-related proteins. Furthermore, it inhibited tumor angiogenesis in zebrafish in vivo. More importantly, casearlucin A significantly inhibited cell proliferation and migration in an in vivo zebrafish xenograft model. Collectively, these results are valuable for the further development and application of casearlucin A as an anticancer agent.

Radiation esophagitis (RE) is common in patients treated with radiotherapy (RT) for locally advanced esophageal squamous cell carcinoma (ESCC). We aim to construct a nomogram predicting the severe RE (grade ≥2) in patients with ESCC receiving definitive chemoradiotherapy (dCRT).

Logistic regression was performed to evaluate the risk factors in predicting RE. Nomogram was built based on the multivariate analysis result. The model was validated using the area under the receiver operating curve (ROC) curve (AUC), calibration curves, and decision curve analyses (DCA). Spearman correlation analysis was used to evaluate the correlation between inflammation indexes.

A total of 547 patients with stage II-IVA ESCC treated with dCRT from the retrospective study were included. Two hundred and thirty-two of 547 patients (42.4%) developed grade ≥2 RE. Univariate analysis indicated that gender (p = 0.090), RT dose (p< 0.001), targeted therapy (p = 0.047), tumor thickness (p = 0.013), lymphocyte-monocyte ratio (LMR built and performed better than it based on each separately. In the current study, we investigated the function and mechanisms of Neuropilin-1 (NRP1), the co-receptor for vascular endothelial growth factor, in BC pathogenesis and progression. The expression of NRP1 was evaluated using data extracted from GEO and HPA databases and examined in BC cell lines. The effect on proliferation, apoptosis, angiogenesis, migration, and invasion of BC cells were validated after NRP1 knockdown. After identifying differentially expressed genes (DEGs) induced by NRP1 silencing, GO/KEGG and IPA® bioinformatics analyses were performed and specific predicted pathways and targets were confirmed in vitro. Additionally, the co-expressed genes and ceRNA network were predicted using data downloaded from CCLE and TCGA databases, respectively. High expression of NRP1 was observed in BC tissues and cells. NRP1 knockdown promoted apoptosis and suppressed proliferation, angiogenesP1 and NUPR1, FOXP3, and DCBLD2. Specifically, downregulation of NRP1 contributes to BC progression, which is associated with activation of MAPK signaling and molecular mechanisms involved in cancer pathways. Therefore, NRP1 may serve as a target for new therapeutic strategies to treat BC and other cancers.

To explore the suitable cases for vaginal cuff brachytherapy (VCB) combined with external beam radiation therapy (EBRT) in the postoperative treatment of cervical cancer.

We retrospectively analyzed the clinical data of 214 postoperative cervical cancer patients who received radiotherapy from January 2008 to December 2015. Among them, 146 patients received postoperative EBRT, 68 received EBRT plus VCB. There was no statistical difference in clinical and pathological characteristics between these two groups. Those who with negative vaginal cuff underwent supplemented 12-18 Gy/2-3 Fx VCB. Survival analyses were performed using Kaplan-Meier method, and Cox model was used to analyze prognostic factors.

The median follow-up was 52 months (9-136 months), and 4-year RFS (recurrence-free survival) was 77%. Among them, 58 patients (27.10%) had local or distant recurrences, 29 (13.55%) in pelvis, six (2.80%) with metastases to para-aortic, 19 (8.88%) with distant metastases (including inguinal lymph nodes) and fo of postoperative radiotherapy if the patients had at least two out of these following factors bulky mass, deep stromal invasion and low EBRT dose.

Invasive mucinous adenocarcinoma (IMA) of the lung is a rare and distinct subtype of adenocarcinoma. At present, people have no idea whether IMA patients can benefit from immunotherapy and target therapy; thus there is an urgent need to clarify the immune microenvironment and genetic characteristics of this cohort.

A total of 31 IMA patients matched with 27 non-mucinous adenocarcinoma (non-IMA) patients were enrolled in this study, and clinical data was collected. selleck The expression of PD-L1, CD8+ tumor-infiltrating lymphocytes (TILs) and ALK was determined by immunohistochemistry. Polymerase Chain Reaction was used to determine the mutations of EGFR. The Chi-square test, Kaplan-Meier method and Cox proportional hazard regression model were used to explore the correlations between these clinicopathological variables, survival and identify risk factors.

The prognosis for small cell lung cancer (SCLC) patients receiving later-line treatment is very poor and there is still no standard treatments after the second-line setting. Analyzing the susceptibility of chemotherapeutic drugs with circulating tumor cells (CTCs) cultured

may contribute to optimize the therapeutic regimen. However, so far CTCs have been barely used for studying their chemosensitivity due to the lack of technology to obtain wholly intact and viable CTCs.

Based on a retrospective study of the therapeutic response of 99 patients with unresectable SCLC, the CTC count in 14 SCLC patients was detected before and after chemotherapy to evaluate its role as a potential marker of response. Furthermore, the drug susceptibility of CTCs cultured

All of the 99 patients received the first-line chemotherapy and the objective response rate (ORR) was 74.7%. A total of 36 patients received the second-line therapy and the average duration was 2.6 months, and only 11 cases out of them received the third-line therapy but no one responded. The change of CTC counts was identified to be correlated with therapy response. However all the five SCLC patients who were administered with the drugs according to the drug susceptibility test of CTCs for two cycles underwent progression of disease.
