Together, these findings establish a role for 5hmC in early-life malnutrition and reveal genes linked to malnutrition-induced anxious behaviours that are mitigated by an enriched environment. An association has been reported between dynamic anterior pelvic tilt (APT) and hamstring injuries; however, no research has examined if a training-based preventive intervention could alter APT. Therefore, the aim of the present study was to examine if a specific 6-week multimodal intervention, based on the theoretical influence of neighbouring joints and biomechanical interactions between muscles that are inserted to the pelvis, induced changes in APT, during walking gait, hamstring flexibility and trunk endurance. Thirty-five active healthy males volunteered for this single-blind controlled trial and were split into two groups based on baseline data a control group (CG, n = 20, continued their normal physical activities), and an intervention group (IG, n = 15, performed the intervention programme for 18 sessions over 6 weeks). A significant (p = 0.001) decrease in the APT kinematics during gait, significant increase in the Active Knee Extension Test (p = 0.001), and a significant increase in trunk endurance performance for flexion (p = 0.001), extension (p = 0.001) and side bridge (p = 0.001) were observed, in IG after the 6-week programme, compared to CG.

There is a lack of instruments to measure the ability of health professionals to promote dietary advice according to dietary guidelines.

To develop and validate a web-based and self-applied scale for measuring primary health care (PHC) professionals' self-efficacy and collective efficacy to apply the Brazilian Dietary Guidelines for dietary advice.

Methodological procedures comprised six steps development of the items; content validation with panel of experts; face validation through focus group conducted with PHC professionals; online reevaluation by the participants of content and face validation panels; online application with PHC professionals working all over Brazil's macro-regions; confirmatory factorial analysis to test construct validity.

The scale was initially developed with 22 items. After content and face validation panels, changes in content and semantics were performed. The second version consisted of 24 items equally divided into part A (self-efficacy) and B (collective efficacy). All iy diet promotion.

To compare the short-term clinical effects between totally laparoscopic radical gastrectomy with modified Roux-en-Y anastomosis, and laparoscopic-assisted radical gastrectomy with Roux-en-Y anastomosis; to explore the safety, feasibility and short-term effect of totally laparoscopic radical gastrectomy with modified Roux-en-Y anastomosis.

Data of 75 patients who underwent totally laparoscopic radical gastrectomy with modified Roux-en-Y anastomosis, and 95 patients who underwent laparoscopic-assisted radical gastrectomy with Roux-en-Y anastomosis by the same surgical team were analyzed. During the modified Roux-en-Y anastomosis, the stomach separation and regional lymph node dissection were completed under a laparoscope; the specimen was placed in a bag; gastrojejunostomy was completed; the subumbilicus hole was enlarged to 3 cm; the specimen was taken out; then, the proximal and distal ends of the small intestine were moved outside of the abdominal wall to complete the small intestine-small intestine end-aroscopic radical gastrectomy with modified Roux-en-Y anastomosis has the advantages of being safer and less traumatic, with associated reductions in bleeding and pain.

Compared with laparoscopic-assisted surgery, totally laparoscopic radical gastrectomy with modified Roux-en-Y anastomosis has the advantages of being safer and less traumatic, with associated reductions in bleeding and pain.Aim To evaluate the abstracts and articles of randomized controlled trials (RCTs) in pain literature and general anesthesia for the evidence of spin. Materials & methods Following a priori protocol, we used a PubMed search for RCTs from a 2-year period. Data extracted using the Boutron spin definition for criteria. Results A total of 163 articles were identified as RCTs with clear primary and secondary end points. A total of 33 trials were identified with nonsignificant primary end points. An 18/33 were found to have spin (54.5%). The spin was identified in the results, title and conclusion 12/18, 3/18 and 3/18, respectively. Conclusion Spin was found in 54% of pain RCTs. With sensitive clinical concerns, such as chronic pain, any misrepresentation of validity could prove to have significant clinical consequences.Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) is a highly contagious disease caused by severe acute respiratory coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2). This virus is capable of human-to-human transmission, and is spreading rapidly round the globe, with markedly high fatality rates. Unfortunately, there are neither vaccines nor specific therapies available to combat it, and the developments of such approaches depend on pursuing multiple avenues in biomedical science. Accordingly, in this paper we highlight one such avenue-nanobodies-for potential utility in therapeutic and diagnostic interventions to combat COVID-19. Communicated by Ramaswamy H. A convenience sample of 855 fourth and fifth grade students (9.7 ± 1.0 years) was recruited from 4 elementary schools located in the Western United States. Body Mass Index (BMI) was calculated using standard procedures and then stratified to weight status categories (healthy weight, overweight/obese) using age- and sex-specific percentiles. Step counts were monitored for seven consecutive days using NL-1000 piezoelectric pedometers. A multilevel generalized linear mixed effect model was used to estimate the odds ratios of meeting segmented step counts recommendations and weight status. Students meeting weekday step count recommendations associated with 39% lower odds of overweight/obesity compared to those not meeting any recommendations (P = 0.02). find more Those meeting both weekday and weekend recommendations associated with 67% lower odds of overweight/obesity compared to children not meeting any recommendations (P = 0.01). Meeting weekend step count recommendations did not associate with weight status. This study supports the positive relationship between segmented step counts and the healthy weight status of school-aged children.

Alteration of empathy is common in patients with psychiatric disorders. Reliable and valid assessment tools for measuring empathy of clinical samples is needed. The Questionnaire of Cognitive and Affective Empathy (QCAE) is a newly-developed instrument to capture cognitive and affective components of empathy. This study aimed to validate the QCAE and compared self-reported empathy between clinical groups with varied psychiatric diagnoses and healthy sample.

The present study performed factor analysis for the QCAE on clinical samples in the Chinese setting (n = 534), including patients with schizophrenia (n = 158), bipolar disorder (n = 213) and major depressive disorder (n = 163). Internal consistency, internal correlation and convergent validity was examined in the subsample (n = 361). Group comparison among patients with schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, major depressive disorder and healthy controls (n = 107) was conducted to assess the discriminant validity.

Our results indicated acceptable factor model, good reliability and validity of the QCAE. Impaired cognitive empathy was found in clinical samples, especially in patients with schizophrenia, while higher affective empathy was found in patients with bipolar disorder and major depressive disorder.

The QCAE is a useful tool in assessing empathy in patients with varied psychiatric diagnoses.

Twenty-three male collegiate baseball players performed tee batting set at waist height. A ten-segment angle-driven simulation model consisting of a bat and upper body was driven using with the coordinate data of the standard motion. Performance optimisation was conducted to find joint angle time histories of the upper body that increase the maximum bat-head speed. In the evaluation of the simulation model, the root mean square error between the measured and simulation model was 0.19 m/s and 0.98° for the time histories of the bat-head speed and bat orientation angle. Performance optimisation was able to achieve a targeted increase in bat-head speed (35.6 m/s to 40.0 m/s) through greater barrel-side shoulder abduction, knob-side elbow flexion, and torso right lateral flexion around ball impact resulted in the bat accelerating in the hitting direction. It is concluded that the proposed simulation approach can be applied as a tool for further simulation analysis in various complex sporting motions.Sub-Saharan Africa faces and is severely affected by many conflicts. Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV) and Acquired Immunodeficiency Syndrome (AIDS) threaten both the physical and financial well-being of individuals in these struggling countries. This research aims to investigate the immigrants' attitudes and beliefs regarding HIV/AIDS in the Mopani district, Limpopo Province. Qualitative and quantitative designs were used, and 200 immigrants were sampled. Data was collected using a questionnaire with closed and open-ended questions. Ethical standards were maintained. The study revealed that many respondents expressed discriminatory practices towards individuals infected by HIV. Many viewed promiscuity and the disease called Makhume (meaning illness caused by the omission of purification rites following the death of a family member) as causes of HIV/AIDS. These attitudes could hinder the achievement of healthy lives and the promotion of well-being at all ages if not addressed appropriately. The collaboration of various departments in the Mopani district is required to change these negative attitudes and beliefs that influence immigrants' behaviours. Also, the use of audio-visuals and peer teaching is most successful in changing attitudes and beliefs.Aim To propose actions to organize healthcare of people with chronic musculoskeletal pain (CMP) into a biopsychosocial approach. Materials & methods Narrative overview with the Brazilian Unified Health System as archetype to propose the implementation of a biopsychosocial approach to manage CMP. Results Healthcare systems often use biomedical model for CMP management, which may explain the increase of demand and costs of CMP management. This is significant in Primary Health Care, where the healthcare professionals have difficulty with evaluating and treating psychosocial factors. Conclusion The present perspective selected some actions that are part of the common procedures in Brazil's Primary Health Care and proposed a protocol of amplified care for CMP management in all levels orientation, health promotion, prevention and rehabilitation.
