The prevalence of dyslipidemia in China is increasing annually. Current studies suggest that dyslipidemia affects the antiviral efficacy of hepatitis C virus (HCV) therapies, while recent studies suggest that serum lipids influence the response rates of chronic hepatitis B (CHB) patients receiving PEGylated interferon-alpha (Peg IFN-α) treatment. However, the role of dyslipidemia in the efficacy of nucleoside (acid) analogues (NAs) in CHB patients remains unclear.

From January 2010 to December 2013, data from 179 treatment-naive patients with CHB who were hepatitis B e antigen (HBeAg)-positive and had visited the first affiliated hospital of Wenzhou Medical University were assessed. Of these patients, 68 were assigned to the dyslipidemia group (diagnosed with CHB complicated with dyslipidemia) and 111 to the normolipidemic group. The following 3 treatment strategies were performed for all CHB patients over a 5-year period lamivudine (LAM) plus adefovir dipivoxil (ADV) combination therapy, telbivudine (LdT, CR, and LDL-C between groups with and without seroconversion. Multivariate regression analysis demonstrated that dyslipidemia (OR = 1.993, Ρ = 0.038) and male gender (OR = 2.317, Ρ = 0.029) were risk factors associated with HBeAg seroconversion.

The changing global health landscape has highlighted the need for more proactive, efficient and transparent health policy-making. After more than 60years of limited development, novel tools for vivax malaria are finally available, but need to be integrated into national policies. This paper maps the malaria policy-making processes in seven endemic countries, to identify areas where it can be improved to align with best practices and optimal efficiency.

Data were collected during a workshop, convened by the Asia Pacific Malaria Elimination Network's Vivax Working Group in 2019, and subsequent interviews with key stakeholders from Cambodia, Ethiopia, Indonesia, Pakistan, Papua New Guinea (PNG), Sri Lanka and Vietnam. Documentation of policy processes provided by respondents was reviewed. Data analysis was guided by an analytic framework focused on three a priori defined domains "context," "actors" and "processes".

As such, new innovative surveillance strategies are needed. The aim of this study was to develop an infographic visualization tool to improve individual-level malaria surveillance focused on malaria elimination in the Brazilian Amazon.

Action Research methodology was employed to deal with the complex malaria surveillance problem in the Amazon region. Iterative cycles were used, totalling four cycles with a formal validation of an operational version of the Malaria Trigram tool at the end of the process. Further probabilistic data linkage was carried out so that information on the same patients could be linked, allowing for follow-up analyoyment strategies.

The Malaria Trigram is aimed to help public health professionals and policy makers to recognise and analyse different types of patterns in malaria events, including recurrences and reinfections, based on the current Brazilian health surveillance system, the SIVEP-Malária system, with no additional primary data collection or change in the current process. Cigarette smoking is the most significant cause of oral cancer progression. Cigarette smoke condensate (CSC) has been shown to induce endoplasmic reticulum (ER) stress. Binding immunoglobulin protein (BiP) being as an ER stress regulator, has been reported to be implicated in malignant behaviors. Therefore, the aim of this study was to investigate the role of the ER stress-responsive protein, BiP, in CSC-induced oral squamous cell carcinoma (OSCC) malignancy.

The biological role of BiP in CSC-induced tumor progression was investigated in OSCC cells (YD38 and SCC25) and in a tumor xenograft mouse model. The expressions of related genes were investigated using quantitative RT-PCR and Western blot analysis. Multi-modal therapy has attracted increasing attention as it provides enhanced effectiveness and potential stimulation of the immune community. However, low accumulation at the tumor sites and quick immune clearance of the anti-tumor agents are still insurmountable challenges. Hypothetically, cancer cell membrane (CCM) can homologously target the tumor whereas multi-modal therapy can complement the disadvantages of singular therapies. Malaria causes significant mortality and morbidity in sub-Saharan Africa, especially among children under five years of age and places a huge economic burden on individuals and health systems. While this burden has been assessed previously, few studies have explored how malaria comorbidities affect inpatient costs. This study in a malaria endemic area in Western Kenya, assessed the total treatment costs per malaria episode including comorbidities in children and adults.

Total economic costs of malaria hospitalizations were calculated from a health system and societal perspective. Patient-level data were collected from patients admitted with a malaria diagnosis to a county-level hospital between June 2016 and May 2017. All treatment documented in medical records were included as health system costs. Patient and household costs included direct medical and non-medical expenses, and indirect costs due to productivity losses.

Of the 746 patients admitted with a malaria diagnosis, 64% were female and 36% wereher medical costs to patients and the health system. Understanding the full economic burden of malaria is critical if future malaria control interventions are to protect access to care, especially by the poor.

Prostate cancer is one of the most common cancers in men and its incidence has increased dramatically in the last decade. This increase in the detection of this type of cancer is based more on the detection of PSA or PSMA antigens as the most important specific antigens of this cancer, and this early detection has greatly helped in the more optimal treatment of patients.

Many methods have been proposed by researchers for early detection of prostate cancer, but most of the methods used today to detect this type of cancer have been using classical antibodies. Although classical antibodies are able to detect tumor cell markers, but instability, large size, costly and laborious production, and random immobility characteristics, causes many problems. Nanobodies or VHHs, which are derived from camel heavy chain antibodies, have special advantages and have eliminated the disadvantages of classical antibodies which makes them attractive to use in biosensors and cancer diagnostic kits. The research that has been done so far shows that the introduced nanobodies are created for the purpose of targeting, detecting and sensing prostate cancer cells with two main purposes. The first is the efficient identification of prostate cancer and the second is the elimination of cancer cells.

Plasmodium sporozoites are the highly motile forms of malaria-causing parasites that are transmitted by the mosquito to the vertebrate host. Sporozoites need to enter and cross several cellular and tissue barriers for which they employ a set of surface proteins.
