The point estimates of the fixed effects are unbiased for both approaches across all models, as such confirming results from methodological research on IPD meta-analysis of group-comparison designs. In light of these results, we discuss the implementation of both methods in R.

To determine the level of quality of life (QoL) in children with cleft lip and/or palate (CL/P) and whether this differs by cleft phenotype.

A cohort of children with CL/P born in New Zealand.

A nationwide study of children born with CL/P and having primary surgery in New Zealand.

Children with CL/P and their families (n = 397) who attended a cleft clinic between October 1, 2014, and September 30, 2017, and agreed to complete questionnaires on QoL.

Primary outcomes were QoL from the PedsQL 4.0 core generic questionnaires and the PedsQL 2.0 Family impact scale.

Children with CL/P in New Zealand generally have a high QoL as assessed by the PedsQL. The impact of cleft phenotype had limited effects on the child, however there were significant impacts on parents and families. We found that the family impact scale differed by cleft phenotype with those with CL having the highest QoL and those with cleft palate the lowest, and this was consistent across QoL subscales. Quality of life improved as a whole by age, particularly in physical and cognitive functioning, as well as in the ability to undertake family activities.

Children with CL/P have generally good levels of QoL in New Zealand, however cleft phenotype impacts on the level, with the lowest levels in those with cleft palate. Psychological support of children with cleft and their families should be an integral part of cleft care.

To investigate whether polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) had further deteriorating influence on endothelial function or cardiometabolic parameters in women with vitamin D deficiency during reproductive age.

The study group was composed of women with PCOS and vitamin D deficiency and insufficiency between the ages of 18 and 35 years. Age and body mass index (BMI)-matched women were chosen as controls. Bismuthsubnitrate Serum 25(OH) Vit D levels below 20 ng/mL were considered as vitamin D deficiency. The cutoff level of vitamin D insufficiency was suggested at 30 ng/mL. Serum FSH, LH, estradiol, testosterone, DHEA-S, fasting glucose, total cholesterol, HDL, LDL, triglyceride levels were analyzed. Carotid artery intima-media thickness (CIMT) was measured, and the flow-mediated vasodilation (FMD) was calculated.

CIMT and FMD values in both vitamin D deficiency and insufficiency subgroups showed no significant difference between PCOS and non-PCOS groups. There was a weak negative correlation between BMI, waist/hip ratio, CRP, and 25(OH) Vitamin D.

PCOS is a heterogeneous disease with different combinations of the diagnostic components. Vitamin D is an important variable for a healthy cardiovascular system. We did not find any difference in early atherosclerotic markers and cardiometabolic features between PCOS and non-PCOS group with Vitamin D deficiency.

To study the efficacy of combined administration of subcutaneous and vaginal progesterone for priming frozen blastocysts transfers, looking at progesterone levels and ART outcome.

Retrospective study.

Three hundred and twenty frozen blastocyst transfer cycles conducted in 213 women aged up to 42years, BMI between 18 and 30 kg/m

, with anatomically normal uterus who underwent frozen embryo transfers (FETs) from February 2019 to December 2019 with a combined luteal-phase support (LPS) associating subcutaneous and vaginal progesterone. Patients with recurrent pregnancy loss (RPL) were excluded.

When using combined vaginal and subcutaneous LPS, SPL >10.50 ng/mL in 95% of cases, with a minimum value of 7.02 ng/mL. CPR, OPR, and global miscarriage rates were 38.4%, 30.9%, and 19.5%, respectively. Analyzing results per quartiles, revealed that miscarriage rates were significantly inferior, and IR were higher in the upper two quartiles of serum progesterone (>21.95 ng/mL) on the day before FET, while there was no difference in CPR and OPR.

We report ART outcome of frozen blastocyst transfers performed using a combination of vaginal and subcutaneous progesterone for LPS. ART results were honorable and SPL favorable 1-2days before FET in 99% of cases.

For the first time in the bark of Prunus species flavonoid C-glycosides have been detected. On the basis of the characteristic fragmentation patterns of their [M-H]- and [M + H]+ ions, three flavonoid C-glycosides have been identified, namely apigenin-6,8-di-C-glucoside (vicenin-2), apigenin-6-C-glucoside (isovitexin) and chrysin-8-C-glucoside. Taking into account the widely studied biological activities of flavonoid C-glycosides, the barks of these common fruit trees seem to be interesting materials of potential medical or cosmetic application. There has been conflicting evidence regarding the potential role of vitamin D in glucose homeostasis. This double-blind randomized placebo-controlled trial was designed to investigate the effect of vitamin D3 supplementation on the disposition index in non-diabetic Indian subjects with obesity. Subjects with obesity [n = 120] were randomized to receive a monthly dose of 120,000 IU of vitamin D3 or matching placebo for 6 months. The primary outcome was a change in disposition index (DI) and secondary outcome measures were change in the homeostatic model assessment of insulin resistance and change in body composition. A total of 101 subjects [50 in the vitamin D group (VITD) and 51 in the Placebo group (PL)] completed the study. The mean baseline serum 25-hydroxyvitamin [25(OH) D] concentration was 11.6 ng/ml. There was no significant difference observed between the two groups in any of the primary or secondary outcomes. However, there were a significant increase in median serum 25(OH) D levels in the VITD group than the PL at 6 months of intervention.
