MicroRNAs play vital roles in the development of endometriosis. It is reported that miR-200b-3p is downregulated in endometriosis, although its mechanisms in this disease remain still unclear. Therefore, the purpose of this study was to explore the function and potential regulatory network of miR-200b-3p in endometriosis through database analysis.
The endometriosis gene expression profiles were downloaded from the GEO database to screen differentially expressed genes (DEGs). The predicted and validated target genes of miR-200b-3p were obtained from miRWalk and miRTarBase database. Then, a comparison was performed between miR-200b-3p target genes and DEGs. GO enrichment and KEGG pathway analysis of the target genes was performed using clusterProfiler package. STRING was used to predict the protein-protein interaction among the proteins encoded by the target genes. Then, TransmiR, LncBase, StarBase, PROMO, and AnimalTFDB were employed to identify interactive transcription factors and lncRNAs of miR-200b-3p.line for further research.Energy metabolic processes play important roles for tumor malignancy, indicating that related protein-coding genes and regulatory upstream genes (such as long noncoding RNAs (lncRNAs)) may represent potential biomarkers for prognostic prediction. This study will develop a new energy metabolism-related lncRNA-mRNA prognostic signature for lower-grade glioma (LGG) patients. A GSE4290 dataset obtained from Gene Expression Omnibus was used for screening the differentially expressed genes (DEGs) and lncRNAs (DELs). The Cancer Genome Atlas (TCGA) dataset was used as the prognosis training set, while the Chinese Glioma Genome Atlas (CGGA) was for the validation set. Energy metabolism-related genes were collected from the Molecular Signatures Database (MsigDB), and a coexpression network was established between energy metabolism-related DEGs and DELs to identify energy metabolism-related DELs. Least absolute shrinkage and selection operator (LASSO) analysis was performed to filter the prognostic signature which underation and discrimination analyses. In conclusion, our findings provided a new biomarker for the stratification of LGG patients with poor prognosis.
The mechanisms that link obesity and cancer development are not well-defined. Investigation of leptin and leptin receptor expressions may help define some of the mechanisms. These proteins are known for associating with the immune response, angiogenesis and, signalling pathways such as JAK2/STAT3, PI3K, and AKT pathways. Tissue proteins can be easily detected with immunohistochemistry (IHC), a technique widely used both in diagnostic and research laboratories. The identification of altered levels of leptin and leptin receptor proteins in tumour tissues may lead to targeted treatment for cancer.
The objective of this study was to use IHC to compare leptin and leptin receptor expressions in clear cell renal cell carcinomas (ccRCC) in non-obese and obese patients to determine the association between these proteins with the clinicopathological features and prognosis of ccRCC.
. The study involved 60 patients who underwent nephrectomy of which 34 were obese, as assessed using body mass index (BMI). Nephrectoents. Interestingly, nuclear expression of leptin was significantly associated with overall survival. However, the significance of these proteins as biomarkers in other RCC histotypes is still unclear.
In this present study, it was revealed that leptin and leptin receptor were not associated with tumour characteristics and progression of ccRCC patients. Interestingly, nuclear expression of leptin was significantly associated with overall survival. However, the significance of these proteins as biomarkers in other RCC histotypes is still unclear. The point-based surface registration method involves the manual selection process of paired matching points on the data of computed tomography and optical scan. The purpose of this study was to investigate the impact of selection error and distribution of fiducial points on the accuracy of image matching between 3-dimensional (3D) images in dental planning software programs. Computed tomography and optical scan images of a partial edentulous dental arch were obtained. selleck kinase inhibitor Image registration of the optical scan image to computed tomography was performed using the point-based surface registration method in planning software programs under different conditions of 3 fiducial points point selection error (0, 1, or 2 mm), point distribution (unilateral, bilateral), and planning software (Implant Studio, Blue Bio Plan) (n = 5 per condition, N = 60). The accuracy of image registration at each condition was evaluated by measuring linear discrepancies between matched images at X, Y, and Z axes. Kruskal-Wallis test, Mann-Whitney U test with Bonferroni correction, and 3-way analysis of variance were used to statistically analyse the measurement data (α = 0.05). No statistically significant difference was exhibited between the 0 and 1 mm point mismatch conditions in either unilateral or bilateral point distributions. The discrepancy values in the 2 mm mismatch condition were significantly different from the other mismatch conditions, especially in the unilateral point distribution (P less then 0.05). Strong interactions among point selection error, distribution, and software programs on the image registration were found (P less then 0.001). Minor matching point selection error did not influence the accuracy of point-based automatic image registration in the software programs. When the fiducial points are distributed unilaterally with large point selection error, the image matching accuracy could be decreased.
The aim of this study was to investigate the respective correlation between the height (
) of a posterior malleolar fracture (PMF) and the involved area (
) of an articular surface and the presence of "die-punch."
Patients with closed posterior malleolar fractures admitted to our hospital from January 2015 to December 2017 were selected, with complete X-ray and 3D reconstruction CT imaging data. The gender, age, injured side, and surgical fixation methods of the patients were recorded. A preoperative ankle CT scan was performed, and the images were viewed through the PACS (Picture Archiving and Communication Systems). Simultaneously, the involved joint surface area (
) by the posterior malleolar fracture was measured, as well as the proportion of the fracture area to the total ankle joint area. On the sagittal reconstruction CT images, the height (
) of the posterior malleolar fracture was measured to compare the correlation between the height of the fracture and the area of the fracture, as well as the area ratio.
