It was found that the blue color intensity of sorbents is in a linear relationship to the phosphate concentration, with a linear range of 0-5 μM (r 2 = 0.9921) and limit of detection of 0.19 μM. The results are in agreement with the standard PMB method.Mice are the most frequently used animals in pharmacokinetic studies; however, collecting series of blood samples from mice is difficult because of their small sizes and tiny vessels. In addition, due to the small sample size, it is problematic to perform high required quantification. Thus, present work aims to find an effective strategy for overcoming these challenges using trans-resveratrol as a tool drug. Based on the idea of a joint technology, the capillary microsampling (CMS) was chosen for blood sample collection from mice after delivery of trans-resveratrol (150 mg/kg) by gavage, and a high-performance liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry (HPLC-MS/MS) method was developed for the determination of trans-resveratrol and its main metabolites. All the mouse blood samples were exactly collected by CMS without obvious deviation. This provided credible samples for subsequent quantitative analysis. The HPLC-MS/MS method was found to be sensitive, accurate, and repeatable, and the pharmacokinetic parameters for all analytes were comparable with those reported in previous studies. However, the present joint technology offers the advantages of less animal damage, easy for sample preparation, and improved reliability. Neoplasia represents one such example of conditions for which a dearth of information in these species exists. There has been increasing recognition of various types of neoplasms, including cutaneous tumors, particularly in ornamental fish; some of which may be related to environmental or to infectious causes. When excision of such tumors is indicated, surgical anaesthesia is required. However, special considerations may be warranted when employing immersion anaesthesia protocols in facultative air-breathing fish that can utilise the lungs for respiration. This anatomophysiological feature of Polypterus spp. may not only influence induction and maintenance of surgical anaesthesia but may theoretically have implications for drowning. Herein, we describe the management of a case of a rapidly growing gular neoplasm in a juvenile saddled bichir and considerations for surgical anaesthesia in this "lunged" species. Herein, we report a 45-year-old woman with end-stage renal disease due to autosomal dominant polycystic diseases (ADPKD) with COVID-19 and pulmonary involvement following kidney transplantation. The patient was properly treated by discontinuation of immunosuppressive drugs, bronchoscopy, and high volume of blood transfusions. The fact that we quickly used early intubation and a new treatment regimen that suppressed immune systems may help physicians develop optimal treatment strategies for similar severe cases. However, this treatment method requires more detailed evaluations due to the contradictory results in reviewing other studies.

While clonidine is used clinically for the treatment of nightmares in posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD), few case reports demonstrating this indication exist, and there have been few studies investigating clonidine's mechanism of action for controlling nightmare symptoms.

In order to further characterize clonidine's role in treating nightmare symptoms in PTSD, we offer this case report describing one United States veteran who presented to an inpatient psychiatric unit after a suicide attempt. At that time, she described a remote history of PTSD symptoms, including nightmares, flashbacks, hyperarousal, and avoidance behaviors which had been well controlled on sertraline and clonidine. Upon her admission, her home sertraline and alprazolam were continued but her home clonidine was not continued. On day two of her hospital stay, she stated that her nightmares had returned. Her home clonidine was restarted on day two. On day three and thereafter, the patient no longer complained of nightmares.

Our patie's response to clonidine, this case may serve as additional evidence in the literature that clonidine has a role in treating nightmares in PTSD. Current proposed mechanisms of action for clonidine's ability to control nightmare symptoms in PTSD include that clonidine may alter the proportions of REM and non-REM sleep in a dose-dependent manner or that clonidine may play a role in memory consolidation. Further formal medication trials are the ideal future direction for establishing this role for clonidine.Human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) infection predisposes patients to the development of lymphomas, both due to immune suppression and coinfection with viruses with oncogenic potential. Coinfection with human herpesvirus 8 (HHV8) in particular has been associated with the development of aggressive lymphomas, including primary effusion lymphoma and diffuse large B-cell lymphoma (DLBCL). In this case report of an adult patient with undiagnosed congenital adrenal hyperplasia presenting with bilateral adrenal masses, we review his radiographic and clinical findings which were highly suspicious for adrenal malignancy. Features of adrenal myelolipoma that may resemble malignant lesions are reviewed. This case report highlights important features of adrenal myelolipoma that the surgeon and endocrinologist should be aware of. The importance of avoiding overtreating adrenal myelolipomas presenting as tumors of uncertain malignant potential is crucial.Takotsubo cardiomyopathy is associated with a constellation of cardiac findings including reversible left ventricular dysfunction and an acute triggering stressor. Epicardial coronary vasospasm is a rarely reported etiology for takotsubo cardiomyopathy, and its pathophysiologic mechanisms still remain incompletely understood. We present the case of a 54-year-old female with chest pain and ST-elevation myocardial infarction who was found to have takotsubo cardiomyopathy due to diffuse multivessel coronary artery vasospasm in the absence of obstructive coronary artery disease. To our knowledge, this is the first angiographically confirmed case of this rare phenomenon to be reported, as most literature involves focal, segmental, or single coronary artery involvement. Moreover, we review current literature and develop a discussion on the targeted treatment of vasospastic disease as part of the multimodal approach to the management of takotsubo syndrome.Diabetes mellitus (DM) follows a series of metabolic diseases categorized by high blood sugar levels. New methods such as nanotechnology have made significant progress in many areas of medical science and physiology. Nanobiosensors are very sensible and can identify single virus particles or even low concentrations of a material that can be inherently harmful. One of the main factors for developing glucose sensors in the body is the diagnosis of hypoglycemia in individuals with insulin-dependent diabetes. Therefore, this study aimed to evaluate the most up-to-date and fastest glucose detection method by nanosensors and, as a result, faster and better treatment in medical sciences. In this review, we try to explore new ways to control blood glucose levels and treat diabetes. We begin with a definition of biosensors and their classification and basis, and then we examine the latest biosensors in glucose detection and new biosensors applications, including the artificial pancreas and updating quantum graphene data.Gastrointestinal parasites and their anthelmintic resistance are major constraints to goat production in Ethiopia. Experimental investigation by faecal egg count reduction test (FECRT) and larval cultures were used to assess the occurrence of anthelmintic resistance in naturally infected goats with gastrointestinal nematodes (GIN) in Haramaya, Ethiopia. One hundred goats with a minimum of 150 eggs per gram (EPG) count were selected and randomly divided into five groups, 20 goats in each group, four treated and one untreated group. The result of the faecal egg count reduction test percentage (FECRT%) and the lower 95% confidence limit showed the presence of anthelmintic resistance for all tested drugs except tetramisole. FECRT% and lower 95% confidence limit were 69.9% and 36.9 for albendazole, 84.3% and 66.1 for tetraclozan, 95.7% and 87.4 for tetramisole, and 71.1% and 38.2 for ivermectin, respectively. Trichostrongylus, Teladorsagia, and Haemonchus showed anthelmintic resistance for tested drugs. Coproculture from different treatment groups revealed Trichostrongylus (69.2% in ivermectin and 59.6% in albendazole) were the predominant nematode followed by Teladorsagia (21.9% in albendazole and 14.7% in ivermectin). In tetraclozan treatment group, Trichostrongylus (42%) and Teladorsagia (41.3%) were comparable, followed by Haemonchus (13%). In group treated with tetramisole, Teladorsagia (54.3%) were the most frequently detected nematode followed by Trichostrongylus (25.7%) and Haemonchus (11.4%). Therefore, this study demonstrated the presence of multidrug resistant nematodes that may limit the productivity of goats. Moreover, further studies covering wider areas of Ethiopia and mechanisms of nematode resistance need to be studied in the future.

Although it is apparently simpler to perform unstented tubularized incised plate (TIP) repair for distal hypospadias repair, consensus on feasibility of the use of unstented repair is still a matter of debate. Evidence reporting that unstented repair outcome is comparable to stented repair, especially in the long-term, is still weak due to reporting outcome inconsistencies, different study designs, inclusion of more than one technique, and inherent variability in meatal locations. Thus, we need a continuous and evolving assessment of the outcome of unstented repair to compile adequate evidence on the advantage of unstented TIP repair in distal hypospadias entity. The aim of this article was to review our long-term results with tubularized incised plate urethroplasty for distal hypospadias repair without a postoperative stent to determine its outcome which might justify its use.

After a review of 154 patients with distal penile hypospadias, who underwent repair in Minia Urology & Nephrology University Hospital in the period between June 2015 and February 2018, we excluded cases who underwent MAGPI repair, redo cases and patients who failed to complete follow-up.
