The objective is to report a single centre experience in the embolization of visceral artery pseudoaneurysms with N-butyl-cyanoacrylate-methacryloxy sulfolane (NBCA-MS).
A retrospective observational cohort study was conducted on data about all consecutive patients treated for visceral artery pseudoaneurysms in the Interventional Radiology Unit of SS Annunziata Hospital, in Taranto (Italy) between January 2016 and July 2020. Only patients treated with NBCA-MS embolization were included. Clinical and technical outcomes were evaluated during in-hospital stay and at 3-month follow-up by computed angiotomography (CTA).
Among 89 patients undergoing treatment for visceral artery pseudoaneurysm, a total of 58 (65.2%) patients (n = 32, 55.2% men; median age 45.8 years, range 35-81) treated with NBCA-MS only were enrolled. Pseudoaneurysms were located in the renal artery (n = 18 cases, 31%), in the splenic artery (n = 27, 46.6%), in the intra-parenchymal hepatic artery (n = 3, 5.2%), in the common hepatic artery, NBCA-MS represents a definitive and safe embolization agent.
In properly selected patients affected with visceral artery pseudoaneurysms, NBCA-MS represents a definitive and safe embolization agent.Synthetic cilia-regulated transports through micro and nanofluidic devices guarantee an efficient delivery of drugs and other biological substances. Entropy analysis of cilia stimulated transport of thermally radiated hybrid nanofluid through an electroosmotic pump is conducted in this study. Joint effects of applied Lorentz force and Ohmic heating on the intended stream are also studied. Metachronal arrangements of cilia field coating channel inner side, are liable to generate current in the fluid. After using the lubrication and the Debye-Huckel estimations, numerical solutions of the envisioned problem are obtained. For pressure rise per metachronal wavelength, the pressure gradient is numerically integrated. The analysis reveals that high electric potential results in reducing the heat transfer effects in the flow system. The enhancement of flow is noticed near the channel surface for higher electroosmotic parameters. The irreversibility in the channel decreases when the Helmholtz-Smoluchowski velocity is applied in the opposite direction of the flow and thus produces the fluid friction irreversibility.Sound quality (SQ) has become an important index to measure the competitiveness of motor products. To better evaluate and optimize SQ, a novelty SQ evaluation and prediction model of high-speed permanent magnet motor (HSPMM) with better accuracy is presented in this research. Six psychoacoustic parameters of A-weighted sound pressure level (ASPL), loudness, sharpness, roughness, fluctuation strength (FS), and perferred-frequency speech interference (PSIL) were adopted to objectively evaluate the SQ of HSPMM under multiple operating conditions and subjective evaluation was also conducted by the combination of semantic subdivision method and grade scoring method. The evaluation results show that the SQ is poor, which will have a certain impact on human psychology and physiology. The correlation between the objective evaluation parameters and the subjective scores is analyzed by coupling the subjective and objective evaluation results. The average error of multiple linear regression (MLR) model is 7.10%. selleckchem It has good accuracy, but poor stability. In order to improve prediction accuracy, a new predicted model of radial basis function (RBF) artificial neural network was put forward based on genetic algorithm (GA) optimization. Compared with MLR, its average error rate is reduced by 3.16% and the standard deviation is reduced by 1.841. In addition, the weight of each objective parameter was analyzed. The new predicted model has a better accuracy. It can evaluate and optimize the SQ exactly. The research methods and conclusions of this paper can be extended to the evaluation, prediction, and optimization of SQ of other motors.
Metabolic genes are associated with the occurrence and development of tumors. Metabolic-related risk models have showed partly prognostic predictive ability in cancers. However, the correlation between metabolic-related genes (MRGs) and the outcome of colorectal cancer is still poorly understood.
TCGA database is used as the training cohort; while GSE39582 is the verification cohort. The least absolute shrinkage and selection operator Cox regression analysis were utilized to identify the MRGs and establish a genetic risk scoring model. A nomogram by integrating MRGs risk scores with TNM stage was constructed. The potential biological mechanisms were explored using gene set enrichment analysis. Associations of the signature with immune cell infiltrations and the tumor mutation burden (TMB) were also uncovered by Spearman rank test.
A six-gene metabolic signature was identified. Based on the risk scoring model with the signature, patients were divided into two groups (high-risk versus low-risk). The overall survival (OS) duration of patients with high-risk were quite shorter than those of low-risk patients (TCGA
< .001, GSE39582
< .001). Metabolic-related pathways were major enriched in low-risk group, while the high-risk group exhibited multiple immune-related pathways. Moreover, our signature was more linear dependent with antigen-presenting cell than effector immune cells, and a positive correction were seen between our signature and TMB.
Our research has discovered a six-gene metabolic signature to predict the OS of colorectal cancer. These genes may play significant roles in colorectal cancer regulating tumor microenvironment and serving as potential biomarkers for anti-cancer therapy.

One-third of patients with acute severe ulcerative colitis (ASC) fail to respond to intravenous corticosteroids (IVCS) and require second-line therapy or colectomy. We aimed to explore the performance of the Pediatric Ulcerative Colitis Activity Index (PUCAI), for predicting response to IVCS in adults with ASC, and to base a two-step decision-making process for guiding the introduction of second-line therapy.
This was a retrospective multicenter cohort study of adult patients with ASC. PUCAI score, Oxford criteria, and Swedish index were determined at baseline, day three and five of hospitalization, and discharge when outcomes were ascertained.
153 patients were included (mean age 34.7 ± 14.6, median disease duration 7.8 years [IQR 0-17.4]), of whom 51 (33%) required second-line therapy, and 23 (15%) eventually underwent colectomy by discharge. At days three and five, the median PUCAI scores were higher in non-responders compared with responders (55 [45-69]
38 [25-55] at day 3, and 55 [36-65]
20 [5-30] at day 5; both
< .001). The negative and positive predictive values (NPV and PPV) of IVCS failure were 76/63% for the Oxford criteria, 83/52% for the Swedish index as determined on day 3, and 73/100% for PUCAI ≥ 65 points on day five. The corresponding figures for PUCAI ≥ 45 at day 3 were 83/54%.
The PUCAI is a highly predictive tool for IVCS failure. PUCAI ≥ 45 on day 3 has an excellent NPV for IVCS failure indicating preparation for second-line therapy, and PUCAI ≥ 65 on day 5 has a high PPV to initiate the therapy.

We aimed to develop an expert opinion on prediabetes in Lebanon to pave the way for national guidelines tailored for the Lebanese population in the near future. A panel of seven diabetes experts conducted a thorough literature review and discussed their opinions and experiences before coming up with a set of preliminary recommendations for the detection and management of prediabetes in Lebanon. Lebanese physicians employ multiple tests for the diagnosis of prediabetes and no national cut-off values exist. The panel agreed that prediabetes screening should be focused on patients exceeding 45 years of age with otherwise no risk factors and on adults with risk factors. The panel reached that fasting plasma glucose (FPG) and HbA1c should be used for prediabetes diagnosis in Lebanon. FPG values of 100-125 mg/dL or HbA1c values of 5.7%-6.4% were agreed upon as indicative of prediabetes. For the management of prediabetes, a three-step approach constituting lifestyle modifications, pharmacological treatment and bariatric surgery is recommended. There should be more focus on research on prediabetes in Lebanon. This preliminary report will be further discussed with the Lebanese Society of Endocrinology, Diabetes and Lipids in 2021 in order to come up with the first Lebanese national guidelines for the detection and management of prediabetes in Lebanon.Using archival data from 2463 psychoeducational assessments of postsecondary students we investigated whether failure on either symptom or performance validity tests (SVTs or PVTs) was associated with score differences on various cognitive, achievement, or executive functioning performance measures or on symptom report measures related to mental health or attention complaints. In total, 14.6% of students failed one or more PVT, 33.6% failed one or more SVT, and 41.6% failed at least one validity test. Individuals who failed SVTs tended to have the highest levels of self-reported symptoms relative to other groups but did not score worse on performance-based psychological tests. Those who failed PVTs scored worse on performance-based tests relative to other groups. Failure on at least one PVT and one SVT resulted in both performance and self-reported symptoms suggestive of greater impairment compared with those who passed all validity measures. Findings also highlight the need for domain-specific SVTs; failing ADHD SVTs was associated only with extreme reports of ADHD and executive functioning symptoms while failing mental health SVTs related only to extreme reports of mental health complaints. Results support using at least one PVT and one SVT in psychoeducational assessments to aid in diagnostic certainty, given the frequency of non-credible presentation in this population of postsecondary students.
Despite the well-established role of repetitive negative thinking (RNT) in the prediction and maintenance of depression and anxiety, only minimal research to date has investigated RNT in the context of postnatal psychological adjustment.
We examined the relationships between RNT, associated maladaptive cognitive processes, infant responsiveness and psychopathology in a sample of first-time mothers (
= 235) with babies under 12 months.
Participants completed an online battery of measures that indexed RNT, dampening of positive affect, metacognitive beliefs about RNT, infant responsiveness, depression and anxiety symptoms.
As predicted, RNT was correlated with depression. Controlling for depression, RNT was associated with anxiety, dampening positive affect and positive beliefs about RNT. RNT was inversely related to maternal responsiveness, but this relationship was accounted for by depression.
Consistent with findings in the broader literature, RNT was associated with depression, anxiety and other unhelpful cognitive processes in the postnatal period, as well as with poor infant responsiveness.
