In this study, we identified CENPK as a potential new gene for lung cancer based on bioinformatics analysis. In addition, in vitro experiments were performed to verify the function of this gene. We investigated the expression of CENPK in LAC by analyses of datasets from The Cancer Genome Atlas (TCGA) and Gene Expression Omnibus (GEO) databases. Differential expression analyses, gene ontology (GO) enrichment, Kyoto encyclopedia of genes and genomes (KEGG) analysis, and gene set enrichment analysis (GSEA) were conducted to evaluate the diagnostic and prognostic relevance of CENPK. Then, for evaluating the biological behavior and role of CENPK in lung cancer cells, we did a series of vitro experiments, such as immunohistochemistry analysis, Western blot analysis, CCK8 assay, transwell assay, flow cytometry, and wound healing assay.

We demonstrated overexpression of CENPK in LAC; in addition, increased expression of CENPK was associated with clinical progression. Moreover, CENPK was found to be an independent risk factor in patients with LAC. Furthermore, we observed activation of CENPK-related signaling pathways in patients with LAC.

Our findings indicate a potential role of CENPK in promoting tumor proliferation, invasion, and metastasis. It may serve as a novel diagnostic and prognostic biomarker in patients with LAC.

Access and adherence to artemisinin-based combination therapy (ACT) are key challenges to effective malaria treatment. link2 A secondary analysis of the Sierra Leone malaria Knowledge, Attitudes, and Practices (mKAP) survey was conducted to investigate access and adherence to ACT for the treatment of fever in children under-five.

The mKAP was a nationally representative, two-stage cluster-sample survey, conducted in 2012. Thirty primary sampling units per district were randomly selected using probability proportionate to size, based on national census estimates; 14 households were subsequently randomly selected and enrolled per sampling unit. The analysis was restricted to children under-five with fever in the past two weeks. Factors associated with access and adherence were assessed using multivariate logistic regression.

Of 5169 enrolled households, 1456 reported at least one child under-five with fever in the past two weeks. Of the 1641 children from these households, 982 (59.8%) received any treatment fore important information on anti-malarial access and could be expanded to measure treatment adherence.

Colorectal cancer patients undergoing surgical resection are at increased short-term risk of post-operative adverse events. However, specific predictors for long-term major adverse cardiac and cerebrovascular events (MACCE) are unclear. We hypothesised that patients who receive chemotherapy are at higher risk of MACCE than those who did not.

In this retrospective study, 412 patients who underwent surgical resection for newly diagnosed colorectal cancer from January 2013 to April 2015 were grouped according to chemotherapy status. MACCE was defined as a composite of cardiovascular death, myocardial infarction, stroke, unplanned revascularisation, hospitalisation for heart failure or angina. Predictors of MACCE were identified using competing risks regression, with non-cardiovascular death a competing risk.

Spinal Cord injury (SCI) is a kind of severe traumatic disease. The inflammatory response is a significant feature after SCI. Tetramethylpyrazine (TMP), a perennial herb of umbelliferae, is an alkaloid extracted from ligustici. link3 TMP can inhibit the production of nitric oxide and reduce the inflammatory response in peripheral tissues. It can be seen that the therapeutic effect of TMP on SCI is worthy of affirmation. TMP has defects such as short half-life and poor water-solubility. In addition, the commonly used dosage forms of TMP include tablets, dropping pills, injections, etc., and its tissue and organ targeting is still a difficult problem to solve. To improve the solubility and targeting of TMP, here, we developed a nanotechnology-based drug delivery system, TMP-loaded nanoparticles modified with HIV trans-activator of transcription (TAT-TMP-NPs).

The nanoparticles prepared in this study has integrated structure. The hemolysis rate of each group is less than 5%, indicating that the target drug delivery system has good safety.
