es with ≥ 3 gonotrophic cycles were recorded every month amounting to 97.1% in October and 100.0% in December. Reductions in monthly EIRs ranged from 77.76 to 100.00% indoors and 84.95% to 100.00% outdoors. The number of sporozoite infected females from traps was reduced by 97.83% at treated villages compared to controls. CONCLUSIONS Attractive toxic sugar baits used against Anopheles mosquitoes in Mali drastically reduced the density of mosquitoes, the number of older females, the number of sporozoite infected females and the EIR demonstrating how ATSB significantly reduces malaria parasite transmission.BACKGROUND Heart Failure (HF) results in an immense impact on the patients' Health-related quality of life (HRQOL). Heart failure patients HRQOL is dependent on the patients' level of engagement in self-care behaviors. Therefore this study aimed to determine HF patients' health-related quality of life and its relationship with self-care behaviors. METHODS An institutional-based study was conducted on 284 heart failure patients at the University of Gondar referral hospital. The data were collected using a structured questionnaire-based interview. The data were analyzed using SPSS version 20. Both descriptive and analytical statistical tests were utilized. A multinomial logistic regression analysis was done to determine the association between HRQOL and different independent variables. Variables with a p-value less then 0.05 were considered as a significant predictor of the outcome variable. RESULTS The finding of this study showed that more than sixty-six percent of the study population were females. The overients who come from rural areas need special emphasis in each follow-up evaluation.BACKGROUND Lymphangioleiomyomatosis (LAM) is a rare, low-grade multisystem neoplastic disease. Most LAM patients are at a high risk of losing lung function at an accelerated rate and developing progressive dyspnea. Recently, several studies have reported their experience with pharmacological treatments for LAM. Therefore, we conducted a systematic review and meta-analysis to assess the efficacy and safety of these therapies. METHODS PubMed (Medline), EMBASE, Cochrane Library, Web of Science and EBSCO Host were searched (until March 31, 2019) for eligible prospective studies regarding LAM patients treated with pharmacological treatments. Random effect models were used for quantitative analysis. RESULTS Fourteen prospective studies regarding five pharmacological treatments (including sirolimus, everolimus, doxycycline, triptorelin, and a combination therapy of sirolimus and hydroxychloroquine) were enrolled in our systematic review, and ten of them were used for the meta-analysis. see more Seven prospective studies repogical treatments were low or moderate grade and tolerable. CONCLUSIONS Overall, sirolimus and everolimus were recommended for the treatment of LAM because they could stabilize lung function and alleviate renal AML. Doxycycline and triptorelin were not recommended for the treatment of LAM because no beneficial outcomes were consistently observed. The efficacy and safety of combination therapy remain to be further explored.BACKGROUND Epilepsy is one of the most common neurological disorders associated with disruption of brain activity. In the classification and detection of epileptic seizures, electroencephalography (EEG) measurements, which record the electrical activities of the brain, are frequently used. Empirical mode decomposition (EMD) and its derivative, ensemble EMD (EEMD) are recently developed methods used to decompose non-stationary and nonlinear signals such as EEG into a finite number of oscillations called intrinsic mode functions (IMFs). Our main objective in this study is to present a hybrid IMF selection method combining four different approaches (energy, correlation, power spectral distance, and statistical significance measures), and investigate the effect of selected IMFs extracted by EMD and EEMD on the classification. We have applied the proposed IMF selection approach on the classification of EEG signals recorded from epilepsy patients who are under treatment at our collaborator hospital. Multichannel EEto classify pre-seizure and seizure segments.BACKGROUND In the past years evidence has been growing about the interconnection of chronic kidney disease and acute kidney injury. The underlying pathophysiological mechanisms remain unclear. We hypothesized, that a threshold ischemia time in unilateral ischemia/reperfusion injury sets an extent of ischemic tubule necrosis, which as "point of no return" leads to progressive injury. This progress is temporarily associated by increased markers of inflammation and results in fibrosis and atrophy of the ischemic kidney. METHODS Acute tubule necrosis was induced by unilateral ischemia/reperfusion injury in male C57BL/6 N mice with different ischemia times (15, 25, 35, and 45 min). At multiple time points between 15 min and 5 weeks we assessed gene expression of markers for injury, inflammation, and fibrosis, histologically the injury of tubules, cell death (TUNEL), macrophages, neutrophil influx and kidney atrophy. RESULTS Unilateral ischemia for 15 and 25 min induced upregulation of markers for injury after repeleads to persistent cell death and progressing atrophy and is characterized by a temporal association of markers for inflammation and injury.BACKGROUND To experimentally compare the optical performance of two different Extended-Depth-of-Focus (EDOF) intraocular lenses (IOLs) using a standardized optical bench set-up. METHODS In this experimental study, following IOLs were assessed the TECNIS® Symfony ZXR00 (Johnson&Johnson, Santa Ana, USA) and the AT LARA 829MP (Carl Zeiss Meditec, Jena, Germany) IOLs. The through-focus modulation transfer function (MTF) values were measured at a spatial frequency of 50 lp/mm and at aperture sizes of 2, 3, and 4.5 mm. Each IOL was measured while centered using ISO 11979-2 Model 1 (aberration-free) and Model 2 (+ 0.28 μm spherical aberration) corneas. United States Air Force (USAF) target images were also recorded for a qualitative evaluation. RESULTS At 2 mm pupil with ISO1 cornea, the primary and secondary foci of both IOLs appeared to merge, providing an elongated depth of focus. At 3 and 4.5 mm pupil sizes, the through-focus MTF curves of both IOLs showed a bifocal-like V-pattern. While the Symfony IOL showed an overall superior MTF values when measured with the ISO2 cornea, the opposite propensity could be observed with the AT LARA IOL.
