nomic sequencing.

To (a) explore the prevalence of loneliness in patients with diabetes mellitus and (b) identify loneliness-related factors in the group of hospitalized patients with diabetes mellitus.

A cross-sectional study.

The study included 248 patients with diabetes mellitus who were staying in six Polish hospitals. A questionnaire including sociodemographic and clinical data, and the Revised UCLA Loneliness Scale (R-UCLA), was used for research data collection. Data were collected from March 2019 to June 2019.

Patients with diabetes generally experience moderate loneliness, with almost one-fifth (16%) of patients experiencing intense loneliness. The patients scored a mean 9.94 out of a possible 20 in belongings and affiliation category and 20.14 out of a possible 40 in the intimate others category. Lower education, being single and the presence of chronic complications of diabetes mellitus were risk factors for increased loneliness.

This study aimed to determine nurses' perceptions of caring activities in nursing.

A descriptive study design.

A Turkish translation of the 25-item version of the Caring Dimensions Inventory was completed by 260 nurses working in one university hospital. Data were analysed using Mokken scaling.

Technical aspects of nursing were highly endorsed items such as "observing the effects of a medication on a patient, measuring vital signs, being technically competent with a clinical procedure, consulting with the doctor" except for the item "providing privacy for a patient" which is a psychosocial item. The range of items included in the Mokken scale with "providing privacy for a patient" (mean=4.31) as the most endorsed, and "exploring the patient's lifestyle" (mean=2.60) being the least endorsed item. CC930 Listening to patients and involving them in their care are not considered as caring.

To make the evaluation more scientific, structured and systematic, this study aims to develop an evaluation index system for nurses training and to explore clinical effect of system.

The evaluation index system of nurses' post-training was constructed using the Delphi method.

Introducing the system, we used the pre-work training of new nurses as an example for discussing the specific implementation scheme of the system. Twenty-five tertiary and first-class general hospitals in 14 provinces and municipalities were evaluated on the spot, and the application effect of the system was evaluated comprehensively.

The index system consisted of three first-grade indexes, seven second-grade indexes and 23 third-grade indexes. There were three levels in teaching and training ability, and the distance had statistical significance.

To provide insights into nurses lived experiences in caring for children with cancer.

Little is known about the paediatric oncology nurses shared practices of caring for children with cancer in Ghana.

A hermeneutic phenomenological qualitative study.

A semi-structured interview with 14 purposely sampled Ghanaian paediatric oncology nurses. Findings were analysed using Diekelman, Allen and Tanner's approach.

The theme "Striving to reduce suffering" and three relational subthemes "knowing children's needs," "Rendering a hopeful fight" and "Ensuring continuity and coordination of care" emerged. Increased awareness of this phenomenon for the nurses who care for these children is vital to ensure quality and holistic care that is meaningful and satisfying by nurses for children with cancer. Paediatric oncology nurses can use the result of the study to evaluate their caring practice and as an avenue to develop better caring practice.

To investigate the relationship between surface and deep acting in nurses' patient-focused and collegial emotional labour, with emotional exhaustion, depersonalization and personal accomplishment and intention to leave.

A cross-sectional descriptive study using the Emotional Labour Scale, the Maslach Burnout Inventory and intention to leave Yes/No questions with 118 Registered Nurses to measure patient-focused and collegial emotional labour, burnout and intention to leave.

Surface acting in patient-focused

collegial emotional labour was found to have positive associations with burnout and intention to leave their current job. Only surface acting in patient-focused emotional labour was positively associated with intention to leave the organization and/or the profession. The novice nurses carried out more deep acting collegial emotional labour than the pre-retirement nurses.

Collegial emotional labour is significant to nurses' intention to leave their current job but not their intention to leave the organization and/or the profession.
