Detection of traversable areas is essential to navigation of autonomous personal mobility systems in unknown pedestrian environments. However, traffic rules may recommend or require driving in specified areas, such as sidewalks, in environments where roadways and sidewalks coexist. Therefore, it is necessary for such autonomous mobility systems to estimate the areas that are mechanically traversable and recommended by traffic rules and to navigate based on this estimation. In this paper, we propose a method for weakly-supervised recommended traversable area segmentation in environments with no edges using automatically labeled images based on paths selected by humans. This approach is based on the idea that a human-selected driving path more accurately reflects both mechanical traversability and human understanding of traffic rules and visual information. In addition, we propose a data augmentation method and a loss weighting method for detecting the appropriate recommended traversable area from a single human-selected path. Evaluation of the results showed that the proposed learning methods are effective for recommended traversable area detection and found that weakly-supervised semantic segmentation using human-selected path information is useful for recommended area detection in environments with no edges.Designing a novel, efficient, and cost-effective nanostructure with the advantage of robust morphology and outstanding conductivity is highly promising for the electrode materials of high-performance electrochemical storage device. In this paper, a series of honeycombed perovskite-type Sr-doped LaNiO3 nanosheets with abundant porous structure were successfully synthesized by accurately controlling the Sr-doped content. The study showed that the optimal LSNO-0.4 (La0.6Sr0.4NiO3-δ) electrode exhibited excellent electrochemical performance, which showed a high capacity of 115.88 mAh g-1 at 0.6 A g-1. Furthermore, a hybrid supercapacitor device (LSNO//AC) based on LSNO-0.4 composites and activated carbon (AC) showed a high energy density of 17.94 W h kg-1, a high power density of 1600 W kg-1, and an outstanding long-term stability with 104.4% capacity retention after 16,000 cycles, showing an excellent electrochemical performance and a promising application as an electrode for energy storage.The consequences of the COVID-19 pandemic on behavioral health, including tobacco use, are not fully known. The current study sought to measure the perceived impact of COVID-19 and the resulting stay-at-home orders in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and Buffalo, New York on smokers enrolled in four smoking cessation trials between March 2020 and July 2020. The survey collected quantitative data regarding life changes due to COVID-19, health/exposure status, and the impact on their cessation attempt (e.g., motivation to quit, change in triggers). The questionnaire collected qualitative data to better understand how such changes could explain changes in smoking behavior. Of the 42 participants surveyed, approximately half indicated that COVID-19 changed their motivation and ability to quit or remain quit. Among those who reported that it was easier to quit following the stay-at-home orders (n = 24), most attributed this to concerns regarding the severity of COVID-19 among smokers. Among those who reported more difficulty quitting (n = 15), most attributed this to their increased stress due to the pandemic and the inability to access activities, places, or people that could help them manage triggers. Given public health warnings of continued surges in COVID-19, these data provide insight into who may benefit from further smoking cessation support should existing restrictions or new stay-at-home orders be enacted.Abdominal aortic aneurysms (AAAs) are a local dilation of the aorta and are associated with significant mortality due to rupture and treatment complications. There is a need for less invasive treatments to prevent aneurysm growth and rupture. In this study, we used two experimental murine models to evaluate the potential of pentagalloyl glucose (PGG), which is a polyphenolic tannin that binds to and crosslinks elastin and collagen, to preserve aortic compliance. Animals underwent surgical aortic injury and received 0.3% PGG or saline treatment on the adventitial surface of the infrarenal aorta. Seventeen mice underwent topical elastase injury, and 14 mice underwent topical calcium chloride injury. We collected high-frequency ultrasound images before surgery and at 3-4 timepoints after. There was no difference in the in vivo effective maximum diameter due to PGG treatment for either model. However, the CaCl2 model had significantly higher Green-Lagrange circumferential cyclic strain in PGG-treated animals (p less then 0.05). While ex vivo pressure-inflation testing showed no difference between groups in either model, histology revealed reduced calcium deposits in the PGG treatment group with the CaCl2 model. These findings highlight the continued need for improved understanding of PGG's effects on the extracellular matrix and suggest that PGG may reduce arterial calcium accumulation.Phase-pure, highly crystalline sub-50 nm LiNbO3 nanocrystals were prepared from a non-aqueous solvothermal process for 72 h at 230 °C and a commercial precursor solution of mixed lithium niobium ethoxide in its parent alcohol. In the interest of longer-term preservation and in order to maintain these frescoes in good condition, a unique monitoring system was implemented to record both air temperature and RH. The present study proposes a statistical methodology for analyzing a subset of RH data recorded in 2008 and 2010, from the sensors. This methodology is based on fitting different functions and models to the time series, in order to classify the sensors. The classification variables correspond to estimates of parameters of the models and features such as mean and maximum, among others. These features are computed using values of the functions such as spectral density, sample autocorrelation (sample ACF), sample partial autocorrelation (sample PACF), and moving range (MR). The classification variables computed were structured as a matrix. Next, Sparse Partial Least Squares Discriminant Analysis (sPLS-DA) was applied in order to discriminate sensors according to their position in the vault. It was found that the classification of sensors derived from Seasonal ARIMA-TGARCH showed the best performance (i.e., lowest classification error rate). Based on these results, the methodology applied here can be useful for characterizing the differences in RH, measured at different positions in a historical building.A central challenge in cancer genomics is the systematic identification of single and cooperating tumor suppressor gene mutations driving cellular transformation and tumor progression in the absence of oncogenic driver mutation(s). Multiple in vitro and in vivo gene inactivation screens have enhanced our understanding of the tumor suppressor gene landscape in various cancers. However, these studies are limited to single or combination gene effects, specific organs, or require sensitizing mutations. In this study, we developed and utilized a Sleeping Beauty transposon mutagenesis system that functions only as a gene trap to exclusively inactivate tumor suppressor genes. Using whole body transposon mobilization in wild type mice, we observed that cumulative gene inactivation can drive tumorigenesis of solid cancers. We provide a quantitative landscape of the tumor suppressor genes inactivated in these cancers and show that, despite the absence of oncogenic drivers, these genes converge on key biological pathways and processes associated with cancer hallmarks.Lately, in orthodontic treatments, the use of transparent aligners for the correction of malocclusions has become prominent owing to their intrinsic advantages such as esthetics, comfort, and minimal maintenance. Attempts at improving upon this technology by varying various parameters to investigate the effects on treatments have been carried out by several researchers. Here, we aimed to investigate the biomechanical and clinical effects of aligner thickness on stress distributions in the periodontal ligament and changes in the tooth's center of rotation. Dental finite element models comprising the cortical and cancellous bones, gingiva, teeth, and nonlinear viscoelastic periodontal ligaments were constructed, validated, and used together with aligner finite element models of different aligner thicknesses to achieve the goal of this study. The finite element analyses were conducted to simulate the actual orthodontic aligner treatment process for the correction of malocclusions by generating pre-stresses in thorthodontic treatment.

Recent evidence supports a role of probiotics in preventing necrotizing enterocolitis (NEC) in preterm infants.

A systematic review and network meta-analysis of randomized controlled trials (RCTs) on the role of probiotics in preventing NEC in preterm infants, focusing on the differential effect of type of feeding, was performed following the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses (PRISMA) guidelines. A random-effects model was used; a subgroup analysis on exclusively human milk (HM)-fed infants vs. infants receiving formula (alone or with HM) was performed.

Fifty-one trials were included (10,664 infants, 29 probiotic interventions); 31 studies (19 different probiotic regimens) were suitable for subgroup analysis according to feeding. In the overall analysis,

LB revealed the most promising effect for reducing NEC risk (odds ratio (OR), 0.03; 95% credible intervals (CrIs), 0.00-0.21). The subgroup analysis showed that

Bb-12/B94 was associated with a reduced risk of NEC stage ≥2 in both feeding type populations, with a discrepancy in the relative effect size in favour of exclusively HM-fed infants (OR 0.04; 95% CrIs <0.01-0.49 vs. OR 0.32; 95% CrIs 0.10-0.36).

Of note, most probiotic strains are evaluated in few trials and relatively small populations, and outcome data according to feeding type are not available for all RCTs.
