The aim of the study was to analyse whether compliance to Enhanced Recovery After Surgery (ERAS) pathway was associated with decreased interval to adjuvant chemotherapy.
Retrospective analysis of all consecutive ERAS patients with surgery for hepatobiliary or pancreatic malignancies at the University Hospital of Lausanne between 2012 and 2016. Multivariate analysis was performed to assess the impact of ERAS compliance on time to chemotherapy.
A total of 133 patients with adjuvant chemotherapy were included (n = 44 liver and n = 89 pancreatic cancer). Median compliance to ERAS was 61% (IQR 55-67) for the study population, and median delay to chemotherapy was 49 days (IQR 39-61). Overall, compliance ≥ 67% to ERAS induced a significant reduction in the interval between surgery and chemotherapy for young patients (< 65 years old) with or without severe comorbidities (reduction of 22 and 10 days, respectively). High compliance in young ASA3 patients with liver colorectal metastases was associated with an increase of 481 days of DFS.

However, the CA production and kinetic modeling using some agro-industrial wastewaters, such as bovine slaughterhouse wastewater (SHW), are not well reported in the literature. Therefore, the objective of this work was to evaluate the CA production potential using SHW as a substrate under acidogenic conditions and to apply mathematical models to estimate the kinetic parameters of particulate organic matter hydrolysis, soluble organic matter consumption, and CA production. Tests were carried out in quadruplicate batch reactors with a 250-mL reaction volume, with brewery sludge as inoculum and using chloroform (0.05%, v/v) for methanogenesis inhibition. The obtained yield was 0.55 g acids gCODA-1, corresponding to 0.76 gCOD gCODA-1. The production of caproic acid without the addition of electron donors was achieved. Mathematical models that describe exponential growth, such as the first-order exponential model, cone model, and Fitzhugh model, were the most suitable to describe the production kinetics of CA. Finally, SHW seems to be a promising substrate to be investigated in the carboxylic platform.

Commercially available implants made from grade 4 (commercially pure, CP) titanium (G4) and grade 5 Ti-6Al-4 V titanium (G5) alloy implants were investigated. Implant particle compositions were quantified by inductively coupled plasma optical emission spectrometer (ICP-OES) following acid digestion. HGFs were cultured in presence of implant particles, and viabill risks of the individual constituents of any alloy. The potential cytotoxicity of G5 titanium alloy particles should be considered when choosing a device for dental implants. Additionally, regardless of implant material, the implantoplasty procedure can release nanometre-sized particles, the full systemic effect of which is not fully understood. To disambiguate the effect of active spatial learning on the quality of spatial representations from the beneficial effect of physiological arousal, we compared four experimental conditions (walking on a unidirectional treadmill during learning, retrieval, both phases or no walking). Results showed no effect of the walking condition for a route perspective task, but a significant effect on a survey perspective task (landmark positioning on a map) participants who walked during encoding (encoding group and encoding + retrieval group) obtained better results than those who did not walk or walked only during retrieval. Geometrical analysis of spatial positions on maps revealed that the activity of walking during encoding improves the correlation between participants' coordinates and actual coordinates through better distance estimations and angular accuracy, even though the optic flow was not matched with individual walking speed. Control group variance in all measures was higher than that of the walking groups (regardless of the moment of walking). Taken together, these results provide arguments for the multimodal nature of spatial representations, where body-related information derived from walking is involved in metric properties accuracy and perspective switching.
Systemic sclerosis (SSc) is a chronic connective tissue disease affecting all quality of life (QoL) parameters. In addition to clinical assessment, QoL measures should be included in patient assessment. There is no Arabic tool specific for assessing QoL in Arabic SSc patients; therefore, this work was designed to translate the SScQoL questionnaire, culturally adapt and check its reliability and validity.
Based on the principle of translation and cross-cultural adaptation in other language, the SScQoL questionnaire was translated into Arabic. Correlation of SScQoL scores for 50 patients with Short Form Health Survey (SF-36) scores has been tested for convergent validity and discriminate validity evaluated by stratifying clinical parameters of patients and disease subtypes. The intraclass correlation coffee (ICC) was used to assess reliability by interviewing patients twice 14days apart.

Anti-Müllerian hormone (AMH) levels fall during pregnancy but the amount of time required for AMH levels to return to normal has not been accurately determined. We have previously shown that AMH levels have yet to return to normal in some women at 3-months postpartum. In this study, AMH levels were examined at 1- and 5-months postpartum to examine whether AMH levels had returned to normal within this interval.
Longitudinal study involving 38 pregnant women, with serum samples taken in the first trimester, third trimester, 1-month postpartum, 5-months postpartum and 4-6 years postpartum. Participants were recruited from a tertiary maternity clinic (single centre). All women in the study were intending to breastfeed exclusively for at least 5 months, with all 38 participants achieving this at 1-month postpartum and 36/38 after 5 months.
Serum AMH concentrations had not returned to expected non-pregnant levels by 1-month postpartum. At 5-months postpartum, mean AMH concentrations were similar to expected non-pregnant levels but the rank order of AMH concentrations was still dissimilar to the non-pregnant state.

Executive Functions (EFs) are fundamental to every aspect of life. The present study was implemented to evaluate factors influencing their development in a group of preschools orally educated profoundly deaf children of hearing parents, who received CI within 2years of age.
Twenty-five preschool CI children were tested using the Battery for Assessment of Executive Functions (BAFE) to assess their flexibility, inhibition, and non-verbal visuo-spatial working memory skills. The percentage of children performing in normal range was reported for each of the EF subtests. Mann-Whitney and Kruskal-Wallis were performed to assess differences between gender, listening mode, and degree of parents' education subgroups. The Spearman Rank Correlation Coefficient was calculated to investigate the relationship between EF scores of audiological and linguistic variables.
Percentages ranging from 76 to 92% of the children reached adequate EF scores at BAFE. Significant relations (p < 0.05) were found between EFs and enew emerging challenge of rehabilitation programs.
To review delayed-onset skin flap complications associated with pediatric cochlear implantation (CI) in our institute, analyze the etiology, and explore effective treatment strategies.
Retrospective analyses of 811 children who had undergone cochlear implantation between January 2003 and March 2019 were performed. Twelve (1.48%) patients developed skin flap complications after CI. We present a classification of flap issues and wound histopathology following cochlear implantation. The interventions for flap problems included drug treatment, aspiration, local wound care, revision surgery, and explantation depending on the clinical situation. The temporalis myofascial reconstructive option is discussed.
Seven subjects were cured with conservative treatment. Five cases with flap infection or necrosis underwent revision surgery, with wound closure in three cases (60%) and revision surgery with explantation in the remaining two cases (40%). Explantation ultimately led to wound healing in all cases. They all achieved excellent performance through re-implantation.
