Erectile dysfunction (ED) is a common problem among men across the world. It is usually multifactorial in origin. Behavioral factors can be related to the development of ED and related to many other chronic diseases. It impacts not only the sexual function but also the psychology and their overall quality of life.

A systematic review search based on Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analysis was conducted. The primary databases PubMed, PlosOne, Oxford Academic, SCOPUS, and Ovid were accessed using specific keyword searches. Quality of articles was assessed by using Newcastle-Ottawa Assessment Scale according to the study design.

The aim of this study was to review the techniques, complications, and outcomes of substitution phalloplasty in bladder exstrophy-epispadias complex patients to determine the ideal surgical procedure and gauge the risks and benefits for the patient.

To observe the effect of an organization-of-care improvement process on the achievement of therapeutic goals for people with type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM).
This single-arm cohort study analyzed the electronic medical records of patients with T2DM in 5 primary care practices in Ontario, Canada, before and 2 years after implementation of an individualized quality-improvement program. The primary outcome was the change in glycated hemoglobin (A1C) between baseline and follow up, with secondary analyses including change in other metabolic parameters, medication patterns and clinic visits. Pre specified subgroup analysis of patients with baseline values above guideline therapeutic targets was performed.
In the overall population of 1,886 patients, A1C improved from 7.1% (baseline) to 7.0% (follow up) (p<0.001); low-density lipoprotein-cholesterol (LDL-C) improved from 2.1 to 1.9 mmol/L (p<0.001); and diastolic blood pressure (BP) improved from 75 to 74 mmHg (p<0.001), with no significant change oberapeutic targets.
Benefits of physical activity are well recognized for youth with type 1 diabetes mellitus (T1DM), but being active is challenging. In this study, we aimed to investigate the challenges experienced by adolescents, their parents and young adults with T1DM when they are physically active.
Six focus groups involving adolescents (13 to 18 years old, n=14) and young adults (19 to 25 years old, n=7) and 4 focus groups with parents (n=14) of the adolescents (13 to 18 years) were established. Data were analyzed using content analysis.
Adolescents and young adults with T1DM identified challenges of unpredictability, knowledge, trust and stigma when they were physically active. Parent challenges were specifically unpredictability and trust.
Interventions are needed that provide adolescents and young adults with T1DM and parents of adolescents with T1DM more in-depth information about managing physical activity in a manner that enhances their perceived competence and builds autonomy. In a group of patients, the genetic study identifies variants of uncertain significance or inconsistent with the phenotype; therefore, it is urgent to develop novel strategies to reach the definitive diagnosis. Herein, we develop the in-house Translational Diagnostics Program (TDP) to validate genetic variants as part of the diagnostic process with the close collaboration of physicians, clinical scientists, and research scientists. The TDP pipeline includes four steps (i) phenotype assessment, (ii) literature review and prediction of in silico pathogenicity, (iii) experimental functional studies, and (iv) diagnostic decision-making. Re-evaluation of the phenotype and re-analysis of the exome allowed the diagnosis in one patient. In the remaining patients, the studies included either cDNA cloning or PCR-amplified genomic DNA, or the use of patients' fibroblasts.
