In this case report, we describe a case of a 24-year-old male suffering from an ansa pancreatica with a non-patent major papilla, diagnosed on magnetic resonance cholangiopancreatography (MRCP).The ansa pancreatica was revealed by an episode of acute pancreatitis attacks in chronic pancreatitis. Endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography (ERCP) confirmed important abrupt dilation in the main pancreatic duct with an ansa loop in the pancreatic duct in the head of the pancreas, and a sphincterotomy of the minor papilla was performed. The procedure was difficult and the placement of a long-term pancreatic stent during the ERCP was impossible, thus a surgical pancreatico-jejunostomy was proposed as a treatment of an ansa pancreatica with a non-patent major papilla.Hemimelia is a rare anomaly affecting the distal long bones of extremities, with an occurrence of 1-20 cases per million of live births depending on the affected bone. Hemimelia can be an isolated defect or be part of complex syndromes that affect extra skeletal structures. Prenatal detection by routine ultrasound imaging is difficult and yields low detection rates. The prenatal diagnosis of hemimelia should prompt a complete and detailed study of the fetal anatomy, since it can be associated with defects in other structures and systems, as the reported in this case. The prognosis depends upon the associated anomalies.

Tremor is a disabling symptom of Multiple Sclerosis (MS). The development of objective methods of tremor characterisation to assess intervention efficacy and disease progression is therefore important. The possibility of using a Fast Fourier Transform (FFT) method for tremor detection was explored.

Acceleration from a wrist-worn device was analysed using FFTs to identify and characterise tremor magnitude and frequency. Processing parameters were explored to provide insight into the optimal algorithm. Participants wore a wrist tri-axial accelerometer during 9 tasks. The FAHN clinical assessment of tremor was used as the reference standard.

Five people with MS and tremor (57.6 ± 15.3 years, 3 F/2M) and ten disease-free controls (42.4 ± 10.9 years, 5 M/5F) took part. Using specific algorithm settings tremor identification was possible (peak frequency 3-15Hz; magnitude greater than 0.06 g; 2 s windows with 50% overlap; using 2 of 3 axes of acceleration), giving sensitivity 0.974 and specificity 0.971 (38 tremor occurrences out of 108 tasks, 1 false positive, 2 false negatives). Tremor had frequency 3.5-13.0 Hz and amplitude 0.07-2.60g.

Notable developments have included ceramic hip resurfacing, mini hip stems, cementless knee replacement and the wider adoption of the dual mobility articulation for hip arthroplasty. Advances in additive manufacturing and the surface modification of joint replacements offer increasing options for more challenging arthroplasty cases. Robotic assisted surgery is one of the most interesting developments in hip and knee surgery. The recent growth in the use of this technology is providing data that will help determine whether this approach should become the standard of care for hip and knee arthroplasty in the future.

A 13-year-old neutered female domestic shorthair cat was presented for further investigation of a right-sided cervical mass. Oral cavity examination revealed a unilateral, right tonsillar mass. Following a contrast-enhanced CT scan of head, thorax and abdomen, which showed no clear evidence of distant metastasis, cytology of the cervical mass was consistent with a metastatic retropharyngeal lymph node, and the patient underwent tonsillectomy and lymphadenectomy. The tumour was histopathologically confirmed to be a well-differentiated squamous cell carcinoma with lymph node metastasis, and sequential chemotherapy treatments with carboplatin were administered. The cat underwent a second surgery to treat local recurrence and chemotherapy was continued. Subsequently, multiple lymphadenectomies to remove additional metastatic lymph nodes were performed, followed by adjuvant treatment with doxorubicin. Restaging procedures, performed every 3-6 months did not document any local recurrence nor any local or distant metastasis. The patient was euthanased after developing neoplastic pleural effusion 965 days following tonsillectomy.
