Some studies showed no benefit while others demonstrated a clinically significant improvement in overall survival in the PD-L1 positive population. It is not yet clear which biomarkers are most useful, and assays for these biomarkers have not been standardized. Given the often serious and severe side effects of immunotherapy, it is important and necessary to identify predictive biomarkers of response and resistance in order to enhance patient selection. In this review, we will discuss both the challenges of traditional biomarkers and the opportunities of emerging biomarkers for patient selection.We report here the efficient synthesis of 6,6´-diamido-2,2´-dipicolylamines (DA-DPAs) which could be applied to phosphate anion sensing via pre-formed metal complexes. The design was based on the retrosynthetic analysis. This strategy enabled us to achieve the functionalized DA-DPAs in satisfactory yields with high purity using the Boekelheide rearrangement. Meanwhile, all the intermediates could be easily purified by silica gel column chromatography.This paper argues that as we move to redefine global bioethics, there is a need to be attentive to the ethical issues associated with the environmental sustainability of data and digital infrastructures in global health systems. We show that these infrastructures have thus far featured little in environmental impact discussions in the context of health, and we use a case study approach of biobanking to illustrate this. We argue that this missing discussion is problematic because biobanks have environmental impacts associated with data and digital infrastructures. We consider several ethical questions to consider these impacts what ethical work does the concept of environmental sustainability add to the debate; how should this concept be prioritised in decision-making; and who should be responsible for doing so? We call on global bioethics to play a role in advancing this dialogue and addressing these questions.

Acute pulmonary thromboembolism (PTE) is one of the serious medical issues with higher prevalence and mortality rates. As mentioned in several medical reports, most of the chest pain patients, visiting the emergency departments, are usually diagnosed with either acute PTE, acute coronary syndromes, or acute aortic syndromes. The current study aimed to study the risk factors and explore the echocardiographic findings in patients with PTE.

Forty patients with acute pulmonary embolism were enrolled in the study. Echocardiography and computed tomography pulmonary angiography (CTPA) were evaluated for all participants. The echocardiography showed that 29 patients (72.5%) had echocardiographic findings suggestive of acute PTE. Twenty-four patients (60%) had tricuspid regurge. Twenty-one patients (52.5%) had dilated right ventricle (RV). Also, 13 patients (32.5%) had an echocardiographic finding of pulmonary hypertension. Furthermore, ten patients (25%) had McConnell's sign, and 21 patients (52.5%) had RV systolat thrombus in the main pulmonary trunk was a high-risk factor for patients with acute pulmonary embolism. The current study suggested that echocardiography is an important bedside imaging tool for the diagnosis of PTE. Echocardiography could detect the tricuspid regurge, pulmonary hypertension, McConnell's sign, RV dilatation, thrombosis, and dysfunction. Furthermore, echocardiography was considered a non-invasive test for rapid diagnosis of PTE and determining the degree of the risk category (high- or low-risk patients) specially with the presence of McConnell's sign, dilated RV, and RV systolic dysfunction.

Human immunodeficiency virus (HIV), hepatitis B virus (HBV), and syphilis are major sexually transmitted infections (STIs) among the general population in Ethiopia, which in turn result in a wide range of adverse pregnancy outcomes. Hence, it is important to determine the seroprevalence and risk factors of HIV, HBV, and syphilis infection among pregnant mothers attending antenatal care in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.

A cross-sectional study was conducted among 286 pregnant women from February 1, 2021, to March 30, 2021, in four selected public hospitals in Addis Ababa. Sociodemographic, risky sociocultural, behavioral, and hospital-related factors were collected using an interview-administered questionnaire. Detection of anti-HIV antibodies, hepatitis B surface antigen (HBsAg), and rapid plasma reagin (RPR) for syphilis was conducted. A binary logistic regression analysis was used to determine predictors of STIs using SPSS version 25.

Human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) can be transmitted from mothers to their babies during pregnancy, delivery through vaginal fluids or breastfeeding. As false positivity anti-HIV results due to pregnancy could be detected and no relevant study have been reported in Northern Cyprus so far, we aimed to estimate the false anti-HIV positivity rate in pregnant women.

A total of 11.977 women admitted to Near East University Hospital between 2015 and 2018 were involved. The fourth generation anti-HIV-1/2 ELISA test was carried out by chemiluminescence enzyme immunoassay. Positive results were confirmed by real-time polymerase chain reaction (rt-PCR). SPSS (Statistical Package for the Social Sciences) Demo Ver 22 program was used for statistical analysis and significance (p<0.05) was measured by Person Chi-Square and Fisher's Exact tests.

This review discusses the complex relationship between COVID-19 and dementia and how the pandemic has affected the management of patients with dementia. This population resulted particularly susceptible to SARS-CoV-2 infection and its effects and also to the negative effects of the measures taken worldwide to control the spread of the virus.

Patients with dementia were at increased risk for COVID-19 compared to patients without dementia, and diagnosis of dementia represents an independent risk factor for hospitalization in COVID-19 patients.
