Gene Set Analysis (GSA) is one of the most commonly used strategies to analyze omics data. Hundreds of GSA-related papers have been published, giving birth to a GSA field in Bioinformatics studies. However, as the field grows, it is becoming more difficult to obtain a clear view of all available methods, resources, and their quality. In this paper, we introduce a web platform called "GSA Central" which, as its name indicates, acts as a focal point to centralize GSA information and tools useful to beginners, average users, and experts in the GSA field. "GSA Central" contains five different resources A Galaxy instance containing GSA tools ("Galaxy-GSA"), a portal to educational material ("GSA Classroom"), a comprehensive database of articles ("GSARefDB"), a set of benchmarking tools ("GSA BenchmarKING"), and a blog ("GSA Blog"). We expect that "GSA Central" will become a useful resource for users looking for introductory learning, state-of-the-art updates, method/tool selection guidelines and insights, tool usage, tool integration under a Galaxy environment, tool design, and tool validation/benchmarking. Moreover, we expect this kind of platform to become an example of a "thematic platform" containing all the resources that people in the field might need, an approach that could be extended to other bioinformatics topics or scientific fields.Ventilator liberation is one of the most critical decisions in the intensive care unit; however, prediction of extubation failure is difficult, and the proportion thereof remains high. Machine learning can potentially provide a breakthrough in the prediction of extubation success. A total of seven studies on the prediction of extubation success using machine learning have been published. These machine learning models were developed using data from electronic health records, 8-78 features, and algorithms such as artificial neural network, LightGBM, and XGBoost. Sensitivity ranged from 0.64 to 0.96, specificity ranged from 0.73 to 0.85, and area under the receiver operating characteristic curve ranged from 0.70 to 0.98. The features deemed most important included duration of mechanical ventilation, PaO2, blood urea nitrogen, heart rate, and Glasgow Coma Scale score. Psychological methods of intervention can effectively influence various mechanisms in the pathogenesis of itch and scratch and improve social functioning in patients with chronic dermatological itch. In this mini-review, we discuss family constellation seminars as an effective method of psychological intervention that can reduce the intensity of itch, and improve sleep and performance in patients with atopic dermatitis and psoriasis. This method is insufficiently described in previous reviews of psychological interventions in atopic dermatitis and psoriasis patients. The positive impact of family constellations seminars in patients with chronic dermatological itch may be related to reducing stress by improving understanding of the family situation, appropriate management of family secrets, and enhancing interactions with the social environment.Cancer is one of the most important public health issues worldwide. In recent years, an increasing number of studies have focused on the application of lanthanides in cancer diagnosis and therapy. However, no research has analyzed the current status and future trends of lanthanides in treating cancer. We downloaded data from publications from the Web of Science Core Collection. We used VOSviewer 1.16.16 software and Excel 2016 to analyze literature information, including publication years, journals, countries, institutes, authors, keywords, and co-cited references. A total of 7,849 publications were identified. The first study on the association of rare earth elements with cancer was published in 1945. GDM is a metabolic disease with short- and long-term adverse effects on both pregnant women and newborns. The metabolic changes and corresponding risk factors should be of great significance in understanding the pathological mechanism of GDM and reducing the incidence of adverse pregnancy outcomes in patients with GDM. The well-known GDM-associated lipids used in clinical tests, such as triglyceride (TG), are thought to play a major role in metabolic changes during GDM, which have a potential causal relationship with abnormal pregnancy outcomes of GDM. Therefore, this study analyzed the relationship between clinical lipid indicators, metabolic profiles, and abnormal pregnancy outcomes in GDM through mediation analysis. By constructing a metabolic atlas of 399 samples from GDM patients in different trimesters, we efficiently detected the key metabolites of adverse pregnancy outcomes and their mediating roles in bridging abnormal lipids and adverse pregnancy outcomes in patients with GDM. Our study confirmed that TG and total cholesterol were independent risk factors for adverse pregnancy outcomes in patients with GDM. Several key metabolites as mediators (e.g., gamma-linolenic acid, heptadecanoic acid, oleic acid, palmitic acid, and palmitoleic acid) have been identified as potential biomarkers for adverse pregnancy outcomes in patients with GDM. These metabolites mainly participate in the biosynthesis of unsaturated fatty acids, which may shed new light on the pathology of GDM and provide insights for further exploration of the molecular mechanisms underlying adverse pregnancy outcomes.

Retinopathy of prematurity (ROP) like retinopathy (ROPLR) could occur in full/near-term newborns. The causes and clinical features are still largely elusive. This study focused on the risk factors, clinical and genetic characteristics, treatment and outcome, and prognosis of ROPLR.

A total of 47 consecutive full/near-term newborns during 2016-2017 with ROPLR were included. The clinical and genetic characteristics, treatment and outcome, prognosis, and potential underlying etiology of ROPLR were were analyzed.

91 eyes of 47 infants were found to have ROPLR. The ROPLR regressed completely in 65.9% and partially in 20.9% of eyes without any interventions. Retinal changes of family exudative vitreoretinopathy (FEVR) were allocated in 12 neonates (group A), perinatal hypoxia-ischemia were categorized in 17 neonates (group B), and the other 18 neonates were categorized in group C. Compared to those in group B/C, infants in group A had significantly more severe retinopathy (stage 4/5,

< 0.001) and more treatments (

< 0.00 risk factor 1).

The clinical consequences and commonest chronic anovulatory disorder, polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS), has a prevalence that ranges between 6 to 10% of the global population. While multiple causes can eventually result in PCOS, various methods have been described in the literature for its management, often without ascertaining the underlying cause. Ovulation Induction (OI) is a group of techniques that is used in women with PCOS who are looking to conceive and are unbale to do so with natural means. This narrative review presents a summary of the current evidence and available techniques for OI in women with PCOS, highlighting their performance and applicability.

Females routinely receive bupivacaine for obstetric and regional anesthesia. An accidental overdose of bupivacaine can result in cardiotoxicity and cardiac arrest. Intralipid (ILP) rescues bupivacaine-induced cardiotoxicity in male rats. However, bupivacaine cardiotoxicity and ILP rescue have not been studied in non-pregnant and late-pregnant female rats. Here, we tested the hypothesis that an appropriate dose of ILP would rescue non-pregnant and late-pregnant rats from bupivacaine-induced cardiotoxicity.

Non-pregnant (

= 6) and late-pregnant (

= 7) female rats received intravenous bupivacaine (10-mg/kg bolus) to induce asystole. Resuscitation with 20% ILP (5-ml/kg actual body weight, single bolus, and 0.5-ml/kg/min maintenance) and chest compressions were continued for 10-min. Serial heart rate (HR), left ventricular ejection-fraction (LVEF%), and LV-fractional shortening (LVFS%) were recorded at baseline and 10-min after bupivacaine-induced cardiac arrest.
