Based on the 2005 Caprini Risk Assessment Model for venous thromboembolism, the American Society of Plastic Surgeons prevention guidelines would result in prolonged chemoprophylaxis (1 week or more) for the majority of patients undergoing deep inferior epigastric perforator flap breast reconstruction. We aim to assess the necessity of prolonged prophylaxis by describing our institutional experience in thromboembolism prevention and evaluating the incidence of symptomatic VTE in our patient cohort.
Women who underwent DIEP flap reconstruction from August 2011 to March 2020 at a tertiary care center were included. This is a prospective transvaginal 3D study carried out to define the third ventricle and the diencephalic midline structures surrounding it. 93 of 387 fetuses in which the commissural plate with the future cavum septi pellucidi, cavum veli interpositi, and the roof of the third ventricle could be well visualized, were selected with the choroid plexus of the third ventricle and the pituitary gland serving as leading structures. In a small number of fetuses, the optic chiasm could also be displayed. In addition, the following measurements were performed third ventricle craniocaudal and anteroposterior, roof of the third ventricle/cavum veli interpositi, and fcsp.

We examined the efficacy of a novel endoscopic ligation technique with O-ring closure (E-LOC) to prevent bleeding after gastric endoscopic submucosal dissection (ESD) under antithrombotic therapy.
This single-center prospective study involved consecutive patients who were taking antithrombotic agents and underwent gastric ESD. E-LOC was performed by anchoring the nylon loop with hemoclips on both defect edges and/or the exposed muscle layer, and using O-ring band ligation around these deployed clips. The primary outcome was post-ESD bleeding rate. Secondary outcomes were complete closure rate, procedure time, sustained closure rate, and complications.
48 patients were finally analyzed. The post-ESD bleeding rate was 0 %, the complete closure rate was 97.9 %, and the mean closure time was 29.9 minutes. The sustained closure rate was 95.8 % at postoperative day 2-3 and 33.3 % at postoperative day 10-11. No complications occurred.
E-LOC may be an effective option for closing mucosal defects after gastric ESD under antithrombotic therapy. However, the preventive effect on post-ESD bleeding should be further investigated in high risk groups.

Knee injury and Osteoarthritis Outcome Score (KOOS) was used in this study. All patients who underwent single-knee arthroscopic meniscectomy from January 2012 to March 2018 performed by a single surgeon at an academic safety-net hospital were identified. We excluded patients who had undergone ipsilateral previous knee surgery, bilateral meniscectomy, or concomitant ligament, cartilage, or osteotomy procedures, and those with severe radiographic osteoarthritis in the operated knee, missing preoperative data, or military insurance. Data abstracted from medical records included demographics (age, sex, race, insurance type), clinical characteristics (body mass index, Charlson comorbidity index, and Kellgren-Lawrence [KL] grade), procedure codes, and KOOS assessed before and 90 days after surgery. Multivariable analyses investigated the associations between patkelihood of surgical success (p less then 0.01 for all subscales). Insurance-based disparities in access to orthopaedic care for meniscus tears may explain worse preoperative PROMs and lower success rates of meniscectomy among Medicaid patients. Patients with meniscus tears and radiological and/or magnetic resonance imaging evidence of osteoarthritis should be carefully evaluated to determine the appropriateness of arthroscopic meniscectomy.

Through qualitative synthesis, data were extracted from the included publications and from guidelines of national and international societies of gynecology.
The 34 publications included in the present study showed that some factors of the SARS-CoV-2 infection, and, consequently, the COVID-19 pandemic, might be associated with menstrual abnormalities, effects on contraception, alterations in steroid hormones, changes in urogynecological care, effects on women's mental health, and negative impact on violence against women.

To determine the accuracy of colposcopy findings in diagnosing cervical intraepithelial neoplasia (CIN) in women with an atypical squamous cells, cannot exclude high-grade squamous intraepithelial lesion (ASC-H) pap smear result and analyze whether the prevalence of HSIL and cancer correlates with sociodemographic risk factors and specific colposcopic findings.
Colposcopic findings and sociodemographic risk factors were analyzed as possible predictors of a CIN 2 or worse diagnosis in women with an ASC-H pap smear result.
Accuracy of the colposcopic impression was 92%, sensitivity was 91.6%, and specificity was 93.1%, with a positive predictive value of 96.4% and negative predictive value of 84.3%. Diagnosis of CIN 2 or worse was more frequent in patients with a previous history of cervical dysplasia and pre-menopausal patients. Identification of major colposcopic findings, dense acetowhite epithelium, coarse mosaicism, and punctuation correlated significantly with CIN 2 or worse.
Colposcopy performed by an experienced examiner can accurately differentiate patients with CIN 1 or less from patients with CIN 2 or worse.
