Herein, we develop a method to make TiO2 coating highly conductive by doping Ca2+ into the TiO2 lattice based on the introduction of graphene. It is demonstrated that doping Ca2+ increases the carrier density of TiO2 and its morphology changes from a sphere to a spindle shape, which increases the interfacial contact area between TiO2 and graphene. Therefore, resistivity can be greatly decreased due to the construction of fast charge transport pathways from TiO2 to graphene, resulting from an increase in the speed of interfacial charge transfer. In addition, the electronic properties of the samples are also studied through first-principles calculations before and after Ca2+ doping. The result of the theoretical analysis is in agreement with that of experiments. Thus, the lowest resistivity of Ca2+-TiO2/graphene can reach 0.004 Ω cm. ALX5407 is a potent and selective inhibitor of GlyT1 derived from the metabolic intermediate sarcosine (N-methylglycine) that showed antipsychotic potential in a number of animal models. Whereas clinical application of ALX5407 is limited by adverse effects on motor performance and respiratory function, a suitably radiolabeled drug could represent a promising PET tracer for the visualization of GlyT1 in the brain. Herein, [18F]ALX5407 and the corresponding methyl ester, [18F]ALX5406, were prepared by alcohol-enhanced copper mediated radiofluorination and studied in vitro in rat brain slices and in vivo in normal rats. [18F]ALX5407 demonstrated accumulation consistent with the distribution of GlyT1 in in vitro autoradiographic studies but no brain uptake in μPET experiments in naı̈ve rats. In contrast, the methyl ester [18F]ALX5406 rapidly entered the brain and was enzymatically transformed into [18F]ALX5407, resulting in a regional accumulation pattern consistent with GlyT1 specific binding. We conclude that [18F]ALX5406 is a promising and easily accessible PET probe for preclinical in vivo imaging of GlyT1 in the brain.Measuring the maximum operating temperature within the channel of ultrawide band-gap transistors is critically important since the temperature dependence of the device reliability sets operational limits such as maximum operational power. Thermoreflectance imaging (TTI) is an optimal choice to measure the junction temperature due to its submicrometer spatial resolution and submicrosecond temporal resolution. Since TTI is an imaging technique, data acquisition is orders of magnitude faster than point measurement techniques such as Raman thermometry. Unfortunately, commercially available LED light sources used in thermoreflectance systems are limited to energies less than ∼3.9 eV, which is below the band gap of many ultrawide band-gap semiconductors (>4.0 eV). Therefore, the semiconductors are transparent to the probing light sources, prohibiting the application of TTI. To address this thermal imaging challenge, we utilize an MoS2 coating as a thermoreflectance enhancement coating that allows for the measurement of the surface temperature of (ultra)wide band-gap materials. The coating consists of a network of MoS2 nanoflakes with the c axis aligned normal to the surface and is easily removable via sonication. The method is validated using electrical and thermal characterization of GaN and AlGaN devices. We demonstrate that this coating does not measurably influence the electrical performance or the measured operating temperature. A maximum temperature rise of 49 K at 0.59 W was measured within the channel of the AlGaN device, which is over double the maximum temperature rise obtained by measuring the thermoreflectance of the gate metal. The importance of accurately measuring the peak operational temperature is discussed in the context of accelerated stress testing.

Sodium-glucose cotransporter 2 inhibitors reduce the risk of hospitalization for heart failure in patients with heart failure and a reduced ejection fraction, but their effects in patients with heart failure and a preserved ejection fraction are uncertain.

In this double-blind trial, we randomly assigned 5988 patients with class II-IV heart failure and an ejection fraction of more than 40% to receive empagliflozin (10 mg once daily) or placebo, in addition to usual therapy. The primary outcome was a composite of cardiovascular death or hospitalization for heart failure.

Over a median of 26.2 months, a primary outcome event occurred in 415 of 2997 patients (13.8%) in the empagliflozin group and in 511 of 2991 patients (17.1%) in the placebo group (hazard ratio, 0.79; 95% confidence interval [CI], 0.69 to 0.90; P<0.001). This effect was mainly related to a lower risk of hospitalization for heart failure in the empagliflozin group. The effects of empagliflozin appeared consistent in patients with or without diabetes. The total number of hospitalizations for heart failure was lower in the empagliflozin group than in the placebo group (407 with empagliflozin and 541 with placebo; hazard ratio, 0.73; 95% CI, 0.61 to 0.88; P<0.001). Uncomplicated genital and urinary tract infections and hypotension were reported more frequently with empagliflozin.

One month after they had undergone implantation of a biodegradable-polymer sirolimus-eluting coronary stent, we randomly assigned patients at high bleeding risk to discontinue dual antiplatelet therapy immediately (abbreviated therapy) or to continue it for at least 2 additional months (standard therapy). The three ranked primary outcomes were net adverse clinical events (a composite of death from any cause, myocardial infarction, stroke, or major bleeding), major adverse cardiac or cerebral events (a composite of death from any cause, myocardial infarction, or stroke), and major or clinically relevant nonmajor bleeding; cumulative incidences were assessed at 335 days. The first two outcomes were assessed for noninferiority in the per-protocol population, and the third outcome for superiority in the intention-to-treat population.

The role of direct oral anticoagulants as compared with vitamin K antagonists for atrial fibrillation after successful transcatheter aortic-valve replacement (TAVR) has not been well studied.

We conducted a multicenter, prospective, randomized, open-label, adjudicator-masked trial comparing edoxaban with vitamin K antagonists in patients with prevalent or incident atrial fibrillation as the indication for oral anticoagulation after successful TAVR. The primary efficacy outcome was a composite of adverse events consisting of death from any cause, myocardial infarction, ischemic stroke, systemic thromboembolism, valve thrombosis, or major bleeding.
