This study aims to investigate the effects of 16-form Wheelchair Tai Chi (WCTC16) on the autonomic nervous system among patients with spinal cord injury (SCI).

Twenty patients with chronic complete thoracic SCI were recruited. Equivital life monitoring system was used to record and analyze heart rate variability (HRV) of patients for five minutes before and after five consecutive sets of WCTC16, respectively. The analysis of HRV in the time domain included RR intervals, the standard deviation of all normal RR intervals (SDNN), and the root mean square of the differences between adjacent NN intervals (RMSSD). The analysis of HRV in the frequency domain included total power (TP), which could be divided into very-low-frequency area (VLFP), low-frequency area (LFP), and high-frequency area (HFP). The LF/HF ratio as well as the normalized units of LFP (LFPnu) and HFP (HFPnu) reflected the sympathovagal balance.

There was no significant difference in RR interval, SDNN, RMSSD, TP, HEP, VLFP, and LFP of SCI patients before and after WCTC16 exercise (

> 0.05). LFPnu and HF peak decreased, while HFPnu and LF/HF increased in SCI patients after WCTC16 exercise. The differences were statistically significant (

This study was aimed to determine the safety profile of the SP, and its novel preparation Sudarshana suspension (SS) on male Wistar rats and tolerance studies were conducted for healthy adult volunteers. Acute and subacute toxicity studies of the SS and hot water extract of SP were assessed in Wistar rats by observing the general behavior, analyzing biochemical and haematological parameters, and pathological observation. Healthy consented adult volunteers (n = 35) of either sex were selected, and tolerance studies of SS were tested by measuring the biochemical and haematological parameters. There were no significant (p > 0.05) changes observed in the treated animals with SS and hot water extract of SP compared with control in body weights, food intake, and water consumption as well as the biochemical and haematological parameters. Histopathological studies revealed no significant (p > 0.05) changes in the liver, heart, and kidney tissues. Chronic atrophic gastritis (CAG) is an important stage in the normal gastric mucosa's transformation into gastric cancer. Huazhuojiedu decoction (HZJD), a Chinese herbal preparation, has proven clinically effective to treat CAG. However, few studies have explored the mechanism of HZJD in CAG treatment.

This study aimed to shed light on the mechanisms underlying HZJD decoction CAG treatment using a network pharmacology approach and experimental validation.

The active components of HZJD decoction were obtained from the Traditional Chinese Medicine Systems Pharmacology Database and Analysis Platform. Their targets were predicted through the SwissTargetPrediction database. Disease targets were screened using the GeneCards database. The disease and drug prediction targets were intersected to select the common potential therapeutic targets, which then were input into the Search Tool for the Retrieval of Interacting Genes to build a protein-protein interaction network. Osteoclasts (OCs) are multinucleated giant cells formed through the fusion of monocytic precursors of the hematopoietic stem cells lineage. OCs are the exclusive cells responsible for the resorption and degradation of the mineralized bone matrix. Pantoprazole (PPZ), a proton pump inhibitor (PPI), is commonly prescribed to reduce excess gastric acid production for conditions such as gastroesophageal reflux disease and peptic ulcer disease. Studies have found contradictory effects of PPI therapy on bone metabolism due to the lack of understanding of the exact underlying mechanism. In this study, we found that PPZ inhibits receptor activator of nuclear factor-κB (NF-κB) ligand- (RANKL-) induced osteoclastogenesis from bone marrow monocytic/macrophage (BMMs) precursors and the bone-resorbing activity of mature OCs. Correspondingly, the expression of OC marker genes was also attenuated. At the molecular level, PPZ treatment was associated with reduced activation of the ERK MAPK signaling pathways crucial to OC differentiation. Additionally, the in vivo administration of PPZ protected mice against lipopolysaccharide- (LPS-) induced inflammatory calvarial bone erosion, as a result of the reduced number and activity of OCs on the calvarial bone surface. This study aimed to evaluate the antibacterial effect of sodium hypochlorite gel and four types of intracanal medicaments.

The agar diffusion method was used to evaluate the antibacterial effect of five medicaments (sodium hypochlorite gel (NaOCl), chlorhexidine gel (CHX), calcium hydroxide paste (CH), Ledermix, and Diapex plus) against

). The zone of inhibition around each medicament was measured in millimeters, after 48 hours of incubation at 37°C. The antibacterial effects of medicaments against each microbial strain and the sensitivity of microorganisms towards each medicament were compared using the one-way ANOVA and Games-Howell post hoc tests. All medicaments showed variable inhibition zones for all bacterial strains except Diapex Plus which showed no antibacterial activity. NaOCl gel exhibited the most significant inhibition zones for all bacterial strains followed by CHX gel, Ledermix, and CH. However, the effect of CHX and CH paste against

The aim of this study was to investigate the clinical characteristics of patients diagnosed with congenital hypogonadotropic hypogonadism (CHH) caused by

(fibroblast growth factor receptor 1) gene mutations and to evaluate the effect of gonadotropin or pulsatile gonadotropin-releasing hormone (GnRH) therapy on spermatogenesis.

A retrospective study was conducted on CHH patients admitted to Peking Union Medical College Hospital from January 2012 to March 2020. Clinical features and laboratory results were recorded. Nonfunctioning gonadotropic pituitary neuroendocrine tumors (PitNETs) are among the most frequent neoplasms of pituitary gland. Although PitNETs are commonly considered benign, a notable part of patients suffer from tumor recurrence after treatment. Invasive growth of pituitary tumor is among the most important prognostic factors. Since molecular features of invasiveness are of potential clinical usefulness, this study was aimed to verify whether invasive and noninvasive nonfunctioning gonadotropic PitNETs differ in the miRNA expression profile and whether the differences could provide a possible molecular classifier.

miRNA profiles were determined in 20 patients (11 invasive and 9 noninvasive tumors) using next-generation sequencing. The expression of selected miRNAs was assessed in the independent cohort of 80 patients with qRT-PCR.

When miRNA profiles of invasive and noninvasive tumors were compared, 29 miRNAs were found differentially expressed. Hsa-miR-184, hsa-miR-181a-2-3p, hsa-miR-93-3p, hsa-miR-574-5p, hsa-miR-185-5p, and hsa-miR-3200-5p showed a potential clinical value according to ROC curve analysis.
