These optimized procedures provide a new way for researchers to investigate human odor reception in Aedes mosquitoes and reveal the underlying mechanisms governing their host-seeking activity at a molecular level.

Uncertainty exists regarding the best treatment for acute Achilles tendon ruptures. Simultaneous comparison of the multiple treatment options using traditional study designs is problematic; multiarm clinical trials often are logistically constrained to small sample sizes, and traditional meta-analyses are limited to comparisons of only two treatments that have been compared in head-to-head trials. Network meta-analyses allow for simultaneous comparison of all existing treatments utilizing both direct (head-to-head comparison) and indirect (not previously compared head-to-head) evidence.

Likewise, the degree to which patient characteristics (such as gender, age, and American Society of Anesthesiologists [ASA] score) may or may not be associated with survivorship differences calls for larger and longer-term studies than is often possible in single-center designs. Large national registry studies may be able to help answer these questions.

By analyzing a large Australian registry series of primary aTSAs with cemented all-polyethylene glenoids and rTSA for osteoarthritis (OA), we asked (1) Is the revision risk for OA higher for aTSA with all-polyethylene glenoids or for rTSA, adjusting for patient characteristics such as age, gender, ASA score, and BMI? ct an aTSA with an all-polyethylene glenoid to treat OA, despite the current popularity of rTSA. There is a gap between evidence-based knowledge of exercise benefits and the translation of these benefits among persons with multiple sclerosis within clinical practice. This study represents the second cycle of a Plan-Do-Study-Act ramp to assess and improve three exercise promotion practice models and a screening process for use by healthcare providers to bridge the knowledge-translation gap within comprehensive multiple sclerosis care.

Using a quality improvement design, our research team created an online survey for evaluating program materials by healthcare providers (i.e., neurologists, nurses, physical therapists, and occupational therapists). Participants provided written comments and suggestions for improvement regarding roles and responsibilities and clarity and relatability of these tools within a real-world setting.

Healthcare providers submitted 13 suggestions for improvement. Responses informed four specific improvements regarding program materials (i.e., patient screening, current exercise behavior, referrals, and provider checklists), thereby prompting the research team to adapt and further test the change idea.

The COVID-19 pandemic has caused over 1,250,000 deaths worldwide. With limited therapeutic options, proning nonintubated patients emerged as a safe and affordable intervention to manage hypoxemia.

A proning protocol to identify and prone eligible patients was implemented. Patients were encouraged to self-prone for 2-3 hours, 3 times daily. Investigators created educational materials for nurses and patients and developed a COVID-19-specific proning order within the electronic health record (EHR). Investigators completed an 800-person retrospective chart review to study the implementation of this protocol.

From March 22, 2020, to June 5, 2020, 586 patients were admitted to the COVID-19 floor. Of these patients, 42.8% were eligible for proning. Common contraindications were lack of hypoxia, altered mental status, and fall risk. The proning protocol led to a significant improvement in provider awareness of patients appropriate for proning, increasing from 12% to 83%, as measured by placement of a proning order into the EHR.
