In 2016, the French Navy acquired a new high-speed boat, called ECUME. It exposes crewmembers to significant Whole Body Vibrations. This work explores the musculoskeletal diseases among this population. We conducted a retrospective declarative epidemiologic study using anonymous questionnaires. Eighty-four sailors were included. Fifty-six (66.7%) report acute traumas during a nautical raid during the 12 months study period. Sixty (71.4%) report chronic pains, which they associate with their nautical activity. Among them, only 16 (26.7%) have consulted a doctor, but 32 (53.3%) report consuming medication, including 18 through selfmedication. More than half rely to alternatives medicine, especially osteopathy. The traumatic risk of ECUME riding is obvious. Many crewmembers minimize their symptoms, and consult rarely a physician. They give preference to selfmedication and alternative medicines.

There are two US Food and Drug Administration (FDA)-approved drugs, pirfenidone and nintedanib, for treatment of patients with idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (IPF). However, neither of these drugs provide a cure. In addition, both are associated with several drug-related adverse events. Hence, the pursuit for newer IPF therapeutics continues. Recent studies show that joint analysis of systems-biology-level information with drug-disease connectivity are effective in discovery of biologically relevant candidate therapeutics.

Publicly available gene expression signatures from patients with IPF were used to query a large-scale perturbagen signature library to discover compounds that can potentially reverse dysregulated gene expression in IPF. Two methods were used to calculate IPF-compound connectivity gene expression-based connectivity and feature-based connectivity. Identified compounds were further prioritized if their shared mechanism(s) of action were IPF-related.

We found 77 compounds as potential candgrative connectivity analysis framework in this study can be adapted in early phase drug discovery for other common and rare diseases with transcriptomic profiles.

.

As about half of the candidates discovered in this study are either FDA-approved or are currently in clinical trials for other diseases, rapid translation of these compounds as potential IPF therapeutics is possible. Further, the integrative connectivity analysis framework in this study can be adapted in early phase drug discovery for other common and rare diseases with transcriptomic profiles. The reviews of this paper are available via the supplemental material section. This paper presents a review of the nature, range, and incidences of background pathology findings in the respiratory tract of cynomolgus monkeys and rats. Data were collected from 81 inhalation studies and 133 non-inhalation studies evaluated at 3 geographically distinct contract research organization facilities. The inhalation studies were comprised of 44 different small molecule pharmaceuticals or chemicals which were also analyzed in order to understand the patterns of induced changes within the respiratory tract. The lung was the most frequently affected organ in both species, with increased alveolar macrophages being the most common background and test article-related finding. In the upper respiratory tract (URT), inflammatory cell infiltrates were the most common background findings in the nasal cavity in monkeys. Induced URT findings were more frequent in rats than monkeys, with squamous metaplasia in the larynx, and goblet cell hyperplasia in the nasal cavity being the most common. Overall, the data revealed a limited pattern of response to inhaled molecules in the respiratory tract, with background and test article-related findings often occurring in the same regions. It is hoped that these data will assist in the interpretation of findings in the respiratory tract induced by novel inhaled small molecule entities. As the number of Veterans enrolled in the Veterans Health Administration (VHA) and at risk for needing Long Term Services and Supports increases, VHA is shifting from institutional to Home and Community Based Services, such as the Veteran-Directed Care (VDC) program. VDC is a multi-sector program implemented as a collaboration between individual VHA medical centers (VAMCs) and Aging and Disability Network Agencies (ADNAs), entities that sit outside the VHA. Factors that affect establishment of effective multi-sector programs such as VDC are poorly understood, limiting ability to effectively deliver and scale programs. We conducted a qualitative study to describe factors affecting the interorganizational implementation context of VDC. Using constructs from the Consolidated Framework for Implementation Research (CFIR), we interviewed VDC coordinators from seven different VAMC-ADNA partnerships that initiated the VDC program between 2017 and 2018. We identified eight CFIR determinants which manifested similarly for the VAMCs and ADNAs evidence strength and quality, relative advantage, adaptability, tension for change, access to knowledge and information, self-efficacy; engaging, and champions. We identified three CFIR determinants that varied dramatically across VAMCs and ADNAs available resources, implementation climate, and relative priority. Our results suggest that interorganizational context plays a critical and dynamic role within multi-sector collaborations. This study explores patients' experiences of how antidepressant medication transition events (ceasing, changing or reducing) affect employment and workplace functioning. An anonymous online survey was conducted with adults who had experienced antidepressant medication transition events (AMTEs). Data were analyzed using a hybrid inductive and deductive thematic analysis approach. While a majority of participants perceived many positive impacts of antidepressant medication on their workplace functioning, considerable negative effects during AMTEs were reported. Participants provided practical solutions to assist employers, policy and clinicians. Significant and detrimental impact of antidepressant medication changes occurred in the workplace. VT107 concentration There is an urgent need to raise awareness of the vulnerability of people during AMTEs and to develop educational and supportive resources to assist clinicians and practitioners to support people during this vulnerable time.
