Moreover, the synthesis strategy is remarkably flexible in selecting C-N sources. This study features graphitic high-ordered nanoporous CN materials as a resourceful platform towards the efficient CO2 capture.Plants roots are colonised by soil bacteria that are known to be the reservoir of antibiotic resistance genes (ARGs). ARGs can transfer between these microorganisms and pathogens, but to what extent these ARGs and pathogens disseminate from soil into plant is poorly understood. Here, we examined a high-resolution resistome profile along the soil-root continuum of mangrove saplings using amplicon and metagenomic sequencing. Data revealed that 91.4% of total ARGs were shared across four root-associated compartments (endosphere, episphere, rhizosphere and unplanted soil). Rather than compartment-selective dynamics of microbiota, the resistome was disseminated in a continuous fashion along the soil-root continuum. Such dissemination was independent of underlying root-associated bacterial and fungal microbiota, but might be facilitated by a multiplicity of mobile genetic elements. As the multiple-drug resistant pathogens, Vibrio vulnificus, pathogenic Escherichia coli and Klebsiella pneumoniae consistently predominated across four compartments, indicating the potential dissemination of antibiotic pathogens along the soil-root continuum. Through deciphering the profile and dynamics of the root-associated resistome and pathogens, our study identified the soil-root continuum as an interconnected sink through which certain ARGs and pathogens can flow from soil into the plant.

The aim of this study was to retrospectively analyze the prevalence of severe preeclampsia and low sodium (PALS) among the pregnant population admitted at the University Hospital of Udine in the past 4years and to compare these data with the current literature.

Only women with a diagnosis of preeclampsia were included. According to the lowest sodium level measured either 5days before or 5days after delivery, patients were divided in two groups women with hyponatremia (<135mmol/L; severe <120mmol/L) and women with normonatremia (>135mmol/L). Moreover, a search literature was performed.

Of 59 patients with preeclampsia, 20 (34%) had hyponatremia. Only one case (1.6%) of severe maternal hyponatremia (sodium level 117mmol/L) in the setting of preeclampsia was identified. After literature search, a total of 22 manuscripts including 60 case reports of PALS were identified. The lowest sodium level was 113mmol/L, at 25weeks of gestation. In most cases hyponatremia was treated with fluid restriction. In only 5 cases hyponatremia was treated with a saline hypertonic solution. Hyponatremia resolution, when reported, occurred in about 48h. Sodium level in neonates ranged from 118 and 128mmol/L.

PALS may occur in about a third of women with severe preeclampsia. Severe maternal hyponatremia should be treated with fluid restriction and with hypertonic saline solution. Moreover neonatologists should be alerted in order to treat the neonate for the best outcome.

Preeclampsia is a common disease of pregnancy that is characterized by symptoms such as high blood pressure and proteinuria. Peroxiredoxin 4 (Prx4), is a protein with antioxidant properties which is produced in placenta and protects it from antioxidant stress and recurrent miscarriage. For regeneration of Peroxiredoxin 4 need to glutathione (GSH) and Glutamate-cysteine ligase (GCL) enzyme controls the pathway of glutathione regeneration. Apelin is a paired internal ligand with a G protein coupled receptor and is associated with angiotensin receptor (AT1) as a blood pressure regulator. This study was designed to evaluate GCL enzyme activity and Peroxiredoxin 4, glutathione and apelin levels in serum of women with preeclampsia.

Thirty pregnant women with preeclampsia and 30 healthy pregnant women were enrolled in this study. All participants were diagnosed by clinical examination and confirmation by Obstetrician-Gynecologist. The GCL enzyme activity and concentration of Prx4 and apelin in serum samples were measured using ready-to-use non-competitive ELISA methods while glutathione level was determined using Ellman's reagent.

The GCL enzyme activity and Prx4 level were significantly lower in preeclampsia compared with control group (p<0.05). In addition, marked reductions were observed in the concentrations of glutathione and apelin in preeclampsia compared to the healthy pregnant women (p<0.05).

This study identified the role of the GCL and Prx4 system in preeclampsia disorder and may be one of the ways to prevent and reduce the risks of preeclampsia in high-risk women using diet control and stress reduction.

Estuarine and coastal aquaculture sites exposed to toxic cyanobacteria raise concerns that shellfish may accumulate and transfer cyanotoxins in the food web. This study aims to describe the competitive pattern of uptake and depuration of a wide range of microcystins (MC-LR, MC-LF, MC-LW, MC-LY, [Asp3]-MC-LR/[Dha7]-MC-LR, MC-HilR) and nodularins (NOD cyclic and linear) within the common blue mussel Mytilus edulis exposed to a combined culture of Microcystis aeruginosa and Nodularia spumigena into the coastal environment. Different distribution profiles of MCs/NODs in the experimental system were observed. The majority of MCs/NODs were present intracellularly which is representative of healthy cyanobacterial cultures, with MC-LR and NOD the most abundant analogues. Pixantrone manufacturer Higher removal rate was observed for NOD (≈96%) compared to MCs (≈50%) from the water phase. Accumulation of toxins in M.
