Transurethral resection of bladder tumors (TURBT) represents the cornerstone in diagnosis and treatment of bladder cancer but recurrence is observed in up to 80% and over- or understaging with TURBT is common. A more recent development to overcome these limitations represents en-bloc resection of bladder tumors (ERBT) which offers several advantages over TURBT. In this report, we briefly review studies assessing outcomes of bladder cancer patients undergoing ERBT. Most randomized and non-randomized trial demonstrate improvement in clinical outcomes for ERBT over TURBT, however more pathological and translational studies are warranted. Background Endolymphatic hydrops (EH) is the histopathological hallmark of Ménière's disease (MD) and has been found by in vivo magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) in patients with several inner ear syndromes without definite MD criteria. The incidence and relevance of this finding is under debate. Purpose The purpose of the study is to evaluate the prevalence and characteristics of EH and audiovestibular test results in groups of patients with fluctuating audiovestibular symptoms not fulfilling the actual criteria for definite MD and compare them with a similar group of patients with definite MD and a group of patients with recent idiopathic sudden neurosensory hearing loss (ISSNHL). Material and Methods 170 patients were included, 83 with definite MD, 38 with fluctuating sensorineural hearing loss, 34 with recurrent vertigo, and 15 with ISSNHL. The clinical variables, audiovestibular tests, and EH were evaluated and compared. Logistic proportional hazard models were used to obtain the odds ratio for hydrops deng that presence of EH by MRI could be related to the risk of progression to definite MD. Thus, EH imaging in these patients is recommended. Objective To report a case of robot-assisted partial nephrectomy (RAPN) for two highly complex renal tumors in a patient with a Horseshoe kidney (HSK), focusing on the utility of hyperaccuracy three-dimensional (HA3D) virtual models for accurate preoperative and intraoperative planning of the procedure. Methods A 74-year-old Caucasian male patient was referred to our Unit for incidental detection of two complex renal masses in the left portion of a HSK. The 50 × 55 mm, larger, predominantly exophytic renal mass was located at the middle-lower pole of the left-sided kidney (PADUA score 9). The 16 × 17 mm, smaller, hilar renal mass was located at the middle-higher pole of the left-sided kidney (PADUA score 9). Contrast-enhanced CT scan images in DICOM format were processed using a dedicated software to achieve a HA3D virtual reconstructions. RAPN was performed by a highly experienced surgeon using the da Vinci Si robotic platform with a three-arm configuration. A selective delayed clamping strategy was adopted aoperative planning during RAPN, tailoring surgical strategies and techniques according to the single patient's anatomy. Background Biochemical recurrence (BCR) is an indicator of prostate cancer (PCa)-specific recurrence and mortality. However, there is a lack of an effective prediction model that can be used to predict prognosis and to determine the optimal method of treatment for patients with BCR. Hence, the aim of this study was to construct a protein-based nomogram that could predict BCR in PCa. Methods Protein expression data of PCa patients was obtained from The Cancer Proteome Atlas (TCPA) database. Clinical data on the patients was downloaded from The Cancer Genome Atlas (TCGA) database. Selleckchem BI 2536 Lasso and Cox regression analyses were conducted to select the most significant prognostic proteins and formulate a protein signature that could predict BCR. Subsequently, Kaplan-Meier survival analysis and Cox regression analyses were conducted to evaluate the performance of the prognostic protein-based signature. Additionally, a nomogram was constructed using multivariate Cox regression analysis. Results We constructed a 5-protein-b BCR. The findings might be of paramount importance for the prediction of PCa prognosis and medical decision-making. One reason may be the exceptional complexity of the human inner ear, its vulnerability, and surrounding hard bone. The vestibular organ contains an endolymphatic duct system (EDS) bridging the different fluid reservoirs. It may be essential for monitoring hydraulic equilibrium, and a dysregulation may result in distension of the fluid spaces or endolymphatic hydrops. Material and Methods We studied the EDS using high-resolution synchrotron phase contrast non-invasive imaging (SR-PCI), and micro-computed tomography (micro-CT). Ten fresh human temporal bones underwent SR-PCI. One bone underwent micro-CT after fixation and staining with Lugol's iodine solution (I2KI) to increase tissue resolution. Data were processed using volume-rendering software to create 3D reconstructions allowing orthogonal sectioning, cropping, and tissue segmentation. Results Combined imaging techniques with segmerease in endolymph pressure caused by an uncontrolled endolymphatic sac secretion. A rapid rise in UD pressure, mediated along the fairly wide UEV, may underlie the acute vertigo attack, refuting the rupture/K+-intoxication theory. Objective This study aimed to investigate the efficacy and safety of antegrade dissection re-entry (ADR) technique in the percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) to open chronic total occlusion (CTO) lesions. Methods The baseline, angiographic results, PCI success rate, and major adverse cardiac events (MACE) during the 12 months of follow-up were compared between 48 patients who did not use ADR in the treatment of CTO lesions (control group) and 50 patients who used ADR (treatment group). Results The control group comprised 48 patients who had 52 CTO lesions, and the treatment group comprised 50 patients who had 58 CTO lesions. The success rate of PCI in the treatment group (89.7 vs. 71.2%, P = 0.047) was significantly higher than in the control group, where six patients had in-stent restenosis (ISR, ISR-CTO) that were all recanalized. The mean PCI time (71 ± 25 min vs. 95 ± 33 min, P = 0.041), X-ray exposure time (42 ± 17 min vs. 71 ± 22 min, P = 0.032), contrast agent dosage (98 ± 26 ml vs. 178 ± 63 ml, P = 0.
