RESULTS Compared with the normal control group, the epidermis of the model control group was significantly thickened, the dermis was swollen, the inflammatory infiltration of small vessels was serious and the mast cells were swollen and deformed, with blurred edge and exfoliated granules. Additionally, in the model control group, the serum IgE level was significantly higher (P0.05). CONCLUSION Acupuncture at LI11 and SP10 is applicable in the treatment of urticaria. This therapy inhibits the type Ⅰ hypersensitivity and the mast cell degranulation, which may be related to the regulation of p-Lyn and p-Syk protein expressions in the locus coeruleus skin tissue.OBJECTIVE To investigate the effect of warm acupuncture on chondrocyte cytoskeleton protein Rho associa-ted protein kinase (ROCK)/ monopherine domain kinase 1 (LIMK1)/Cofilin signaling of synovial tissue of the knee-joint in knee osteoarthritis (KOA) rats, so as to explore its mechanisms underlying improvement of KOA. METHODS One hundred-twenty SD rats (half male and half female) were randomly divided into 5 groups normal control, model, acupuncture, moxibustion and warm acupuncture, with 24 rats in each group. The KOA model was established by injection of 4% Papain (0.25 mL/kg) into the right knee cavity on day 1, 3 and 7. Rats in the acupuncture, moxibustion and warm acupuncture groups were treated with manual acupuncture, moxibustion and warm acupuncture stimulation of "Neixiyan"(EX-LE4), "Waixiyan"(EX-LE5) and "Zusanli"(ST36), respectively for 20 min, once a day for 21 days. The volume of the right knee-joint was measured by using drainage method and its width measured using a vernier caliper. The histopathological changes of the right knee cartilage were observed after H.E. stain, and scored (0 to 14 points) with reference to Markin's methods. The expression levels of ROCK, Cofilin, phospho-Cofilin, LIMK1 and phospho-LIMK1 proteins of the right knee synovial tissue were detected by Western blot. RESULTS After modeling, the width and the volume since day 6 of the right knee-joint and Markin score of the cartilage, as well as the expression levels of ROCK, phospho-Cofilin, and phospho-LIMK1 proteins were significantly increased in the model group in contrast to the normal control group (P0.05).. CONCLUSION Acupuncture, moxibustion and warm acupuncture can reduce arthritic injury in KOA rats, which is closely associated with their effects in down-regulating the expression of chondrocyte cytoskeletal proteins ROCK, phospho-Cofilin and phospho-LIMK1. The efficacy of warm acupuncture is evidently superior to that of simple acupuncture and simple moxibustion.OBJECTIVE To observe the effect of electroacupuncture (EA) preconditioning on the expression of liver protein kinase 1 (LKB1), adenosine 5'-monophosphate (AMP)-activated protein kinase (AMPK) and 6-phosphofructo-2-kinase (PFK2) in cardiomyocytes of rats with acute myocardial ischemia (AMI), so as to explore its mechanisms underlying cardioprotective effect. METHODS Thirty male Wistar rats were randomly divided into sham-operation, model and EA pretreatment groups (n=10 rats per group). The AMI model was established by ligation of the left anterior descending branch of coronary artery. Before modeling, EA preconditioning (2 Hz/15 Hz, 1 mA) was applied to bilateral "Neiguan"(PC6) for 30 min, once daily for 14 days. Histopathological changes of myocardium was observed by microscope after H.E. staining. The level of lactate dehydrogenase (LDH) in serum was detected by ELISA. The expression of autophagy-associated proteins and mRNAs as LKB1, AMPKa1, AMPKa2 and PFK2 were detected by Western blot and real-time PCR, autophagy of cardiomyocytes. .OBJECTIVE To observe the effect of penetrative needling from "Baihui" (GV20) to "Qubin" (GB7) on neural stem cell proliferation and sonic hedgehog (Shh) signaling in subventricular zone (SVZ) in intracerebral hemorrhage (ICH) rats so as to explore its mechanisms underlying improvement of ischemic injury of brain. selleck chemicals METHODS Male SD rats were randomly divided into blank control, model, acupuncture and agonist (Purmorphamine, an activator of Shh signaling pathway) groups (n=18 in each group, 6 for H.E. stain, 6 for examining neuronal cell proliferation, and 6 for immunohistochemistry). The ICH model was established by injecting autogenous blood (50 µL) into the right caudate nucleus. The neurological defect was scored with refe-rence to Bederson's method. Penetrative needling from GV20 to GB7 was performed by manipulating the needle for 6 min (repeated 3 times in 30 min), once daily for 7 days. Intraperitoneal injection of Purmorphamine (1 mg/mL, 1 mg/kg) was performed, once daily for 7 days. Histopathological chaffects in activating Shh/Gil1 signaling and in further promoting neural stem cell proliferation in the SVZ region.OBJECTIVE To observe the effect of bone-edge electroacupuncture (EA) intervention on mechanical pain threshold (PT) and expression of G protein-coupled receptor kinase (GRK5), β-arrestin 2, total and phosphorylated PKC alpha (p-PKCα) proteins in the locus coeruleus (LC) of rats with bone cancer pain induced morphine tolerance, so as to reveal its partial central mechanisms underlying pain relief. METHODS Forty SD rats were randomly divided into 5 groups, namely sham bone cancer, bone cancer pain, morphine tolerance, bone-edge EA, and sham EA (n= 8 rats in each group). The bone cancer with morphine tolerance model was established by intramedullary injection of MRMT-1 cells into the tibial cavity, and then intraperitoneal injection of morphine hydrochloride injection. After successful establishment of morphine tolerance model, the bone-edge EA (2 Hz/100 Hz,0.5-1.5 mA) was applied to bilateral "Zusanli" (ST36) and "Kunlun" (BL60) for 30 min, once a day for 7 days, after inserting the needle-tip to the tibial bone EA can effectively relieve morphine tolerance in bone cancer pain rats, which may be related to its functions in up-regulating GRK5 protein and down-regulating β-arrestin 2, PKCα and p-PKCα proteins in LC. .Treatment of tumors, especially the malignant tumors, is a world-class medical problem and still plagues clinicians and medical scientists a lot nowadays. Moxibustion therapy has been used in the treatment of tumors in clinic practice for many years and the related mechanism researches have achieved a lot of achievements. In the present paper, we reviewed researches on moxibustion treatment for tumor from the self-regulation of the immune system in patients and animal models. Outcomes display that moxibustion therapy has an action in resisting tumors by 1) regulating innate immune defensive function and enhancing adaptive immunity (by up-regulating activities of natural killer [NK] cells, and phagocytic function of macrophages), 2) stimulating cellular immunity (by increasing the ratio of CD4+/CD8+, lymphocyte transformation rate, etc.), and B lymphocyte-mediated humoral immunity (via regulating contents of IgG, IgA, IgM, etc.), 3) modulating levels of cytokines as interleukins, interferons, tumor necrosis factor superfamily colony stimulating factor, chemokine growth factor, vascular endothelial growth factor,VEGF, etc., 4) regulating expression of many related proteins and genes, and 5) regulating related hormones, neurotransmitters, intracellular kinases signaling, etc., and other immune-related components. The electrical characteristics of meridians and acupoints have been being one of the hot topics discussed by scholars, because of many influencing factors and inconsistent research results. In the present article, we collected papers published in Chinese or English in recent 10 years from PubMed, CNKI, and VIP databases by using key words of"acupuncture""meridian""resistance""capacitance""electrodermal"and"impedance". Then, we make an analysis about its development from three aspects, 1) manifestations of electrical properties of acupoints (low dermal resistance under pathological state, imbalance between left and right sides of the synonym acupoints), 2) clinical application of acupoint electrical characteristics for diagnosis of clinical disorders and evaluation of therapeutic effect, and 3) current situations of development of meridian detection instruments based on electrical characteristics (improving stability of instruments, expansion of the detected regions and measuring time, realization of visualization, and operational automation). In the process of coming studies, we highly recommend that more attention should be paid to the acupoints' "dynamic changes", and forming a standardized research plan, strengthening domestic and international academic exchanges and cooperation are definitely necessary in order to validate the objectivity and specificity of electrical characteristics of meridians and acupoints, further expanding its clinical application.OBJECTIVE To dig the knowledge structure of lumbago's symptoms and acupoints in book Zhenjiu Jiayi Jing (A-B Classic of Acupuncture and Moxibustion) and Zhenjiu Dacheng (Compendium of Acupuncture and Moxibustion) in order to provide a possible scientific method for exploring their combination regularities in ancient Chinese medical books about acupuncture-moxibustion, and to investigate the feasibility and scientificity of the "association rule" in trimming the related ancient medical books and records. METHODS The articles about lumbago's symptoms and employed acupoints were screened from classic me-dical book Zhenjiu Jiayi Jing and Zhenjiu Dacheng, followed by establishing a database. Then, the bidimensional correlation analysis about the lumbago-symptoms and symptoms-acupoints was conducted by using Apriori algorithm of Weka3.9.0 platform. RESULTS A total of 153 entries about symptoms as spinalgia (31.68%) and cold limbs (25.74%) and the employed acupoints as Weizhong (BL40,17.60%), Shenshu (BL23, 9.60%) and Kunlun (BL60, 6.40%) are found. The top 3 supplemented acupoints are BL40 for concomitant symptoms of spinalgia, BL23 for cold limbs, and BL60 for dizzy symptoms. Regarding the paired acupoints for lumbago, the most frequently used ones are BL23-BL40 (30.40%).. CONCLUSION In book Zhenjiu Jiayi Jing and Zhenjiu Dacheng, lumbago has chief symptoms of spinalgia and cold limbs that are mainly disorders of the Bladder Meridian of Foot Taiyang and Governor Vessel, and the acupoints of these two meridians are frequently selected in combination with some specific acupoints.OBJECTIVE To evaluate the efficacy of acupuncture therapy in the treatment of chronic urticaria. METHODS Randomized controlled trials of acupuncture treatment of chronic urticaria published from January of 2008 to October of 2018 were searched from databases of CNKI, VIP, Wanfang, CBM, PubMed, Embase and Cochrane Library by using key words "urticaria or urticarias" "acupuncture therapy" "acupuncture treatment" and "randomized controlled trial (RCT)". The retrieved RCT papers were input into EndNote X8 document management software for screening the qualified ones, followed by evaluating the quality of the screened papers. The data extraction table was designed, and the information and data needed for the research were accurately extracted. Finally, Review Manager 5.3 software was used to analyze the included literature. RESULTS A total of 1 095 articles were retrieved, and 16 RCTs were included finally. The Meta-analysis showed that the total therapeutic efficacy was OR=3.85, 95% CI [2.61, 5.69], P less then 0.
