Evidence on Project ACT points to the vital role community-led advocacy plays in addressing stigma and discrimination as structural barriers to HIV care.While HIV stigma has received significant attention, limited work has been conducted on the measurement of intersecting stigmas. We developed the Experiences of Sex Work Stigma (ESWS) scale in the Dominican Republic (DR) and Tanzania. We conducted in-depth interviews with 20 female sex workers (FSW) per country to identify scale domains followed by cognitive debriefing interviews to assess content validity. Items were administered in a survey to FSW in DR (n = 211) and Tanzania (n = 205). Factor analysis established four sex work stigma domains including shame (internalized), dignity (resisted), silence (anticipated) and treatment (enacted). Reliability across domains ranged from 0.81 to 0.93. Using item response theory (IRT) we created context-specific domain scores accounting for differential item functioning between countries. ESWS domains were associated with internalized HIV stigma, depression, anxiety, sexual partner violence and social cohesion across contexts. The ESWS is the first reliable and valid scale to assess multiple domains of sex work stigma and can be used to examine the effects of this form of intersectional stigma on HIV-related outcomes across settings.As an important photoconductive hybrid material, perylene/ZnO has attracted tremendous attention for photovoltaic-related applications, but generally faces a great challenge to design molecular level dispersed perylenes/ZnO nanohybrids due to easy phase separation between perylenes and ZnO nanocrystals. In this work, we reported an in-situ reaction method to prepare molecular level dispersed H-aggregates of perylene bisimide/ZnO nanorod hybrids. Surface photovoltage and electric field-induced surface photovoltage spectrum show that the photovoltage intensities of nanorod hybrids increased dramatically for 100 times compared with that of pristine perylene bisimide. The enhancement of photovoltage intensities resulting from two aspects (1) the photo-generated electrons transfer from perylene bisimide to ZnO nanorod due to the electric field formed on the interface of perylene bisimide/ZnO; (2) the H-aggregates of perylene bisimide in ZnO nanorod composites, which is beneficial for photo-generated charge separation and transportation. The introduction of ordered self-assembly thiol-functionalized perylene-3,4,9,10-tetracarboxylic diimide (T-PTCDI)/ ZnO nanorod composites induces a significant improvement in incident photo-to-electron conversion efficiency. This work provides a novel mentality to boost photo-induced charge transfer efficiency, which brings new inspiration for the preparation of the highly efficient solar cell.Pediatric obstructive sleep apnea syndrome (OSAS) has a high prevalence in the general population. Risk factors are adenotonsillar hyperplasia, preterm birth, obesity, and craniofacial dysmorphia. A special feature of pediatric OSAS is that it can manifest in behavioral problems. These patients also have an increased risk of perioperative anesthesiologic complications. Diagnostic and therapeutic options should be defined individually using the "Snoring in childhood" algorithm of the German Sleep Research and Sleep Medicine Society (DGSM). Diagnosis based on polysomnography (PSG) is reserved for specialized pediatric sleep centers. The most common surgical treatment for pediatric OSAS is adenoidectomy with tonsillotomy. Positive airway pressure (PAP) therapy in children is only indicated in individual cases. Monitoring of treatment success is important after OSAS therapy.In order to obtain a partial overview of the integration of the German Society of Otorhinolaryngology, Head and Neck Surgery (DGHNO-KHC) in worldwide networks, the frequencies of its annually announced contacts with international otorhinolaryngologic societies between 1976 and 2020 were collected based on the meetings listed in the journal HNO Informationen. Of the 534 international meetings, 388 took place within and 146 outside Europe. These contacts have increased significantly to date, even in very distant countries. find more Furthermore, honorary and corresponding members of the DGHNO-KHC were counted. Up until 2020 there were 210 honorary members, 53 living honorary members from European countries and 19 from non-European countries. Among the deceased honorary members (1951-2019), 125 were from Europe and 13 from non-European countries. Overall, a dense worldwide networking of the DGHNO-KHC has been present during the past five decades.Vestibular schwannomas (VS) are benign tumors that originate from the nerve sheath of one of the two vestibular nerves. VS can have a severe impact on everyday life of the patient and may lead to symptoms such as vertigo, hearing loss (e.g., as sudden deafness), deafness, and tinnitus. Treatment concepts include observational waiting with regular imaging control ("wait and scan"), radiotherapy, or surgical resection. Depending on the size of the tumor and status of functional hearing, the surgical approach may be retrosigmoidal, transtemporal, retrolabyrinthine, or translabyrinthine. The translabyrinthine approach always results in complete deafness due to opening of the bony labyrinth. If the nerve structure of the cochlear nerve is preserved, hearing rehabilitation with a cochlear implant (CI) may be successful. In this article the surgical technique for microsurgical resection of VS using a translabyrinthine approach with simultaneous cochlear implantation under intraoperative monitoring of the cochlear nerve by electrical stimulation is presented.Bacterial acetyltransferase effectors belonging to the Yersinia outer protein J (YopJ) group inhibit multiple immune signaling pathways in human and plants. The present study determines in-silico acetyl-coenzyme A (AcCoA) binding and Arabidopsis immune regulator RPM1-interacting protein4 (RIN4) peptide interactions to YopJ effector hypersensitivity and pathogenesis-dependent outer proteinZ3 (HopZ3) from Pseudomonas syringae. Phylogenetic analysis revealed that HopZ3 was clustered by acetyltransferase effectors from plant bacterial pathogens. Structural juxtaposition shows HopZ3 comprises topology matched closer with HopZ1a than PopP2 effectors, respectively. AcCoA binds HopZ3 at two sites i.e., substrate binding pocket and catalytic site. AcCoA interactions to substrate binding pocket was transient and dissipated upon in-silico mutation of Ser 279 residue whereas, attachment to catalytic site was found to be stable in the presence of inositol hexaphosphate (IP6) as a co-factor. Interface atoms used for measuring hydrogen bond distances, bound or accessible surface area, and root-mean-square fluctuation (RMSF) values, suggests that the HopZ3 complex stabilizes after binding to AcCoA ligand and RIN4 peptide.
