Graphene and related materials can lead to disruptive advances in next-generation photonics and optoelectronics. The challenge is to devise growth, transfer and fabrication protocols providing high (≥5000 cm2 V-1 s-1) mobility devices with reliable performance at the wafer scale. Here, we present a flow for the integration of graphene in photonics circuits. This relies on chemical vapor deposition (CVD) of single layer graphene (SLG) matrices comprising up to ∼12000 individual single crystals, grown to match the geometrical configuration of the devices in the photonic circuit. This is followed by a transfer approach which guarantees coverage over ∼80% of the device area, and integrity for up to 150 mm wafers, with room temperature mobility ∼5000 cm2 V-1 s-1. We use this process flow to demonstrate double SLG electro-absorption modulators with modulation efficiency ∼0.25, 0.45, 0.75, 1 dB V-1 for device lengths ∼30, 60, 90, 120 μm. The data rate is up to 20 Gbps. Encapsulation with single-layer hexagonal boron nitride (hBN) is used to protect SLG during plasma-enhanced CVD of Si3N4, ensuring reproducible device performance. The processes are compatible with full automation. This paves the way for large scale production of graphene-based photonic devices. The ultraviolet (UV)/free chlorine process is a very promising treatment technology to remove persistent organic contaminants (POCs, e.g., pharmaceutical and personal care products) from water. The radical chain reactions involved in the UV/free chlorine process are very complicated, and the reaction pathways for organic contaminants degradation are largely unknown. Therefore, we developed a computerized pathway generator that uses graph theory and experimentally determined reaction rules that were reported for the UV/free chlorine process. Our pathway generator predicts all possible intermediates, byproducts, and elementary reactions that are involved in the oxidation of organic contaminants. For example, the degradation of tricholoroethylene (TCE) produces 497 species (i.e., intermediates and byproducts) and 6608 elementary reactions. The predicted species from our pathway generator not only predict the major and stable byproducts that were observed in our experiments (e.g., CHCl2COOH, CHCl(OCl)COOH, etc.) but also include many other minor and toxic byproducts that were produced but not measured because they have a short lifetime. Overall, our pathway generator significantly improves our understanding of the reaction pathways that are involved in organic contaminant degradation in the UV/free chlorine process. The large-area preparation of excellent lubricating materials with good resistance to leakage and an oxidation atmosphere and ease of replenishment has remained a challenge. Here, inspired by the Nepenthes pitcher slippery surface, we have fabricated multifunctional lubricant-infused surfaces (LISs) via a scalable technique, in which the solid lubricants and the lubricant oil are reciprocally well-combined to overcome their respective weakness. The designed LIS coating exhibits a multiple lubrication ability with a coefficient of friction of 0.022 and ball wear rate of 2.62 × 10-18 m3·N-1·m-1 in air, which are 21 times and three orders of magnitude lower than those of the steel-steel contact under macroscale test conditions (10 N, 5 Hz), respectively. In addition, the outstanding water-repellent and self-cleaning LIS coating enables the resistance to the strong acid or base corrosion even after 30 days of immersion, and the excellent anticorrosion performance during the electrochemical corrosion test. With the exceptional lubrication, multifunctionality performance, and large-scale fabrication capacity, the prepared LIS coating should find potential applications in machines, pipelines, navigation, infrastructures, outdoor equipment, and so on.Polychlorinated naphthalenes (PCNs) were measured in lake trout and walleye over the period 2004-2018, utilizing isotope dilution techniques with high-resolution gas chromatography/high-resolution mass spectrometry to assess concentrations and toxic equivalence (TEQ). An age-trend model was applied to mitigate the effect of a changing lake trout age structure. Most Great Lakes Fish Monitoring and Surveillance Program sampling sites demonstrated significant half-life and percent decreases for lake trout total PCNs and total TEQ over the 2004-2018 period, the exceptions being Lake Erie lake trout and walleye which illustrated increasing concentrations. Great Lakes total PCN concentrations ranged between 5701 and 100 pg/g ww, whereas total PCN TEQ concentrations ranged between 8.89 and 0.13 pg-TEQ/g ww. selleck Based on the average number of chlorines per naphthalene, we determined that the overall lake trout and walleye PCN congener distribution has significantly shifted to a lower-chlorinated composition in the Great Lakes (5.33 to 4.48 Cl/CN) and has resulted in a substantial 59.1% reduction of the overall total PCN TEQ burden. A prominent PCN concentration trend breakpoint was observed in Lake Ontario lake trout over the 2012-2016 period likely associated with hazardous waste cleanups, channel dredging, and spoils disposal in the Detroit River and western-basin of Lake Erie. The course of coronavirus 19 (COVID-19) might be determined by certain comorbidities (e.g. diabetes, hypertension and other cardiovascular diseases) and advanced age. Because the impact of immunosuppression on disease severity is not entirely clear, management of patients under immunosuppressive treatment remains controversial. Six cases of inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) patients with COVID-19 on immunosuppressive medication are presented. The aim of this study was to describe patients' clinical manifestation and chronologic development of virus-specific antibodies of severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) infection before and after restart with immunosuppressive/biological therapy as an indicator for a specific immune response. All patients were tested for the presence of SARS-CoV-2-RNA with PCR, were in clinical remission prior to COVID-19 and only one patient continued his immunosuppressive treatment during the COVID-19 infection. Initial symptoms of COVID-19 were pyrexia, diarrhea, cephalea, and dysgeusia and anosmia.
