We developed a simple method to prepare one gold-based metallotweezer with two planar Au-pyrene-NHC arms bound by a 2,6-bis(3-ethynyl-5-tert-butylphenyl)pyridine unit. This metallotweezer is able to bind a series of polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons through the π-stacking interactions between the polyaromatic guests and the pyrene moieties of the NHC ligands. The metallotweezer was also used as a host for the encapsulation of planar metal complexes, such as the Au(III) complex [Au(C^N^C)(C≡CC6H4-OCH3-p)], for which there is a large binding constant of 946 M-1.A new N,N'-disubstituted piperazine conjugated with 1,3,4-thiadiazole and 1,2,4-triazole was prepared and the chemical structures were identified by IR, NMR and elemental analysis. All the prepared compounds were tested for their antimicrobial activity. The antimicrobial results indicated that the tested compounds showed significant antibacterial activity against gram-negative strains, especially E. coli, relative to gram-positive bacteria. Docking analysis was performed to support the biological results; binding modes with the active site of enoyl reductase amino acids from E. coli showed very good scores, ranging from -6.1090 to -9.6184 kcal/mol. Correlation analysis was performed for the inhibition zone (nm) and the docking score. We report the first total synthesis of 5-phenyl preacinetobactin and its characterization. The route was developed for the synthesis of preacinetobactin, the siderophore critical to the Gram-negative pathogen A. baumannii. It leverages a C5-substituted benzaldehyde as a key starting material and should enable the synthesis of similar analogs. 5-Phenyl preacinetobactin binds iron in a manner analogous to the natural siderophore, but it did not rescue growth in a strain of A. baumannii unable to produce preacinetobactin.Eucommia ulmoides Oliver (E. ulmoides) is a popular medicinal herb and health supplement in China, Japan, and Korea, and has a variety of pharmaceutical properties. The neuroendocrine-immune (NEI) network is crucial in maintaining homeostasis and physical or psychological functions at a holistic level, consistent with the regulatory theory of natural medicine. This review aims to systematically summarize the chemical compositions, biological roles, and pharmacological properties of E. ulmoides to build a bridge between it and NEI-associated diseases and to provide a perspective for the development of its new clinical applications. After a review of the literature, we found that E. ulmoides has effects on NEI-related diseases including cancer, neurodegenerative disease, hyperlipidemia, osteoporosis, insomnia, hypertension, diabetes mellitus, and obesity. However, clinical studies on E. ulmoides were scarce. In addition, E. ulmoides derivatives are diverse in China, and they are mainly used to enhance immunity, improve hepatic damage, strengthen bones, and lower blood pressure. Through network pharmacological analysis, we uncovered the possibility that E. ulmoides is involved in functional interactions with cancer development, insulin resistance, NAFLD, and various inflammatory pathways associated with NEI diseases. Overall, this review suggests that E. ulmoides has a wide range of applications for NEI-related diseases and provides a direction for its future research and development. The work carried out by our research group over the last couple of decades in the context of quantitative crystal engineering involves the analysis of intermolecular interactions such as carbon (tetrel) bonding, pnicogen bonding, chalcogen bonding, and halogen bonding using experimental charge density methodology is reviewed. The focus is to extract electron density distribution in the intermolecular space and to obtain guidelines to evaluate the strength and directionality of such interactions towards the design of molecular crystals with desired properties. Following the early studies on halogen bonding interactions, several "sigma-hole" interaction types with similar electrostatic origins have been explored in recent times for their strength, origin, and structural consequences. These include interactions such as carbon (tetrel) bonding, pnicogen bonding, chalcogen bonding, and halogen bonding. Experimental X-ray charge density analysis has proved to be a powerful tool in unraveling the strength and electronic origin of such interactions, providing insights beyond the theoretical estimates from gas-phase molecular dimer calculations. In this mini-review, we outline some selected contributions from the X-ray charge density studies to the field of non-covalent interactions (NCIs) involving elements of the groups 14-17 of the periodic table. Quantitative insights into the nature of these interactions obtained from the experimental electron density distribution and subsequent topological analysis by the quantum theory of atoms in molecules (QTAIM) have been discussed. A few notable examples of weak interactions have been presented in terms of their experimental charge density features. These examples reveal not only the strength and beauty of X-ray charge density multipole modeling as an advanced structural chemistry tool but also its utility in providing experimental benchmarks for the theoretical studies of weak interactions in crystals.Throughout the previous ten years many scientists took inspiration from natural molybdenum and tungsten-dependent oxidoreductases to build functional active site analogues. These studies not only led to an ever more detailed mechanistic understanding of the biological template, but also paved the way to atypical selectivity and activity, such as catalytic hydrogen evolution. This review is aimed at representing the last decade's progress in the research of and with molybdenum and tungsten functional model compounds. The portrayed systems, organized according to their ability to facilitate typical and artificial enzyme reactions, comprise complexes with non-innocent dithiolene ligands, resembling molybdopterin, as well as entirely non-natural nitrogen, oxygen, and/or sulfur bearing chelating donor ligands. All model compounds receive individual attention, highlighting the specific novelty that each provides for our understanding of the enzymatic mechanisms, such as oxygen atom transfer and proton-coupled electron transfer, or that each presents for exploiting new and useful catalytic capability. Overall, a shift in the application of these model compounds towards uncommon reactions is noted, the latter are comprehensively discussed.Poly(o-methoxyaniline) emeraldine-salt form (ES-POMA) was chemically synthesized using hydrochloric acid and subjected to a heat treatment (HT) process for 1 h at 100 °C (TT100) and 200 °C (TT200). The HT process promoted a progressive decrease in crystallinity. The Le Bail method revealed a decomposition from tetrameric to trimeric-folded chains after the HT process. see more The unheated POMA-ES presented a globular vesicular morphology with varied micrometric sizes. The heat treatment promoted a reduction in these globular structures, increasing the non-crystalline phase. The boundary length (S) and connectivity/Euler feature (χ) parameters were calculated from the SEM images, revealing that ES-POMA presented a wide distribution of heights. The TT100 and TT200 presented a narrow boundary distribution, suggesting smoother surfaces with smaller height variations. The UV-VIS analysis revealed that the transition at 343 nm (nonlocal π → π*) was more intense in the TT200 due to the electronic delocalization, which resulted from the reduced polymer chain caused by the HT process. In addition to the loss of conjugation, counter ion withdrawal reduced the ion-chain interaction, decreasing the local electron density. This result shows the influence of the chlorine counter ions on the peaks position related to the HOMO → LUMO transition, since the π → polaron transition occurs due to the creation of the energy states due to the presence of counter ions. Finally, the electrical conductivity decreased after the HT process from 1.4 × 10-4 S.cm-1 to 2.4 × 10-6 S.cm-1 as result of the polymer deprotonation/degradation. Thus, this paper proposed a systematic evaluation of the POMA molecular structure and crystallite size and shape after heat treatment.Owing to the numerous advantages of graphene-based polymer nanocomposite, this study is focused on the fabrication of the hybrid of polyvinyl alcohol (PVA), polypyrrole (PPy), and reduced graphene-oxide. The study primarily carried out the experimentation and the mathematical analysis of the electrical conductivity of PVA/PPy/rGO nanocomposite. The preparation method involves solvent/drying blending method. Scanning electron microscopy was used to observe the morphology of the nanocomposite. The electrical conductivity of the fabricated PVA/PPy/rGO nanocomposite was investigated by varying the content of PPy/rGO on PVA. From the result obtained, it was observed that at about 0.4 (wt%) of the filler content, the nanocomposite experienced continuous conduction. In addition, Ondracek, Dalmas s-shape, dose-response, and Gaussian fitting models were engaged for the analysis of the electrical transport property of the nanocomposite. The models were validated by comparing their predictions with the experimental measurements. The results obtained showed consistency with the experimental data. Moreover, this study confirmed that the electrical conductivity of polymer-composite largely depends on the weight fraction of fillers. By considering the flexibility, simplicity, and versatility of the studied models, this study suggests their deployment for the optimal characterization/simulation tools for the prediction of the electrical conductivity of polymer-composites.The α-D-glucopyranoside and its derivatives were as the cardinal investigation for developing an effective medication to treat the highest deadly white spot syndrome virus (WSSV) diseases in Shrimp. In our forthcoming work, both computational tools, such as molecular docking, quantum calculations, pharmaceutical kinetics, ADMET, and their molecular dynamics, as well as the experimental trial against WSSV, were executed to develop novel inhibitors. In the beginning, molecular docking was carried out to determine inhibitors of the four targeted proteins of WSSV (PDB ID 2ED6, 2GJ2, 2GJI, and 2EDM), and to determine the binding energies and interactions of ligands and proteins after docking. The range of binding affinity was found to be between -5.40 and -7.00 kcal/mol for the protein 2DEM, from -5.10 to 6.90 kcal/mol for the protein 2GJ2, from -4.70 to -6.2 kcal/mol against 2GJI, and from -5.5 kcal/mol to -6.6 kcal/mol for the evolved protein 2ED6 whereas the L01 and L03 display the highest binding energy in theoyed gradually to further evaluate their suitability as inhibitors. It was discovered that all ligands (L01 to L12) were devoid of hepatotoxicity, and the AMES toxicity excluded L05. Additionally, all of the compounds convey a significant aqueous solubility and cannot permeate the blood-brain barrier. Moreover, quantum calculations based on density functional theory (DFT) provide the most solid evidence and testimony regarding their chemical stability, chemical reactivity, biological relevance, reactive nature and specific part of reactivity. The computational and virtual screenings for in silico study reveals that these chosen compounds (L01 to L08) have conducted the inhibitory effect to convey as a possible medication against the WSSV than existing drugs (L09, L10, L11 and L12) in the market. Next the drugs (L09, L10, L11 and L12) have been used in trials.
