Vaccine hesitancy amongst healthcare personnel (HCP) is a critical issue. The aim was to explore the factors that determine the intention to opt for COVID-19 vaccine among HCP from two southern European countries. An anonymous online self-administered survey using Google Forms has been conducted between December 1st to December 15th, 2020 among the HCP in Greece and the Republic of Cyprus. A total of 2,238 HCPs participated in the study (1,220/54.5% from Republic of Cyprus and 1,018 from Greece). Overall 1,082 (48.3%) stressed their intention to get vaccinated (64.4% for Greece and 34.9% for Republic of Cyprus). The main reasons for those who intend to get the COVID-19 vaccine include self (94.2%), family (98.7%), and patients protection (95.2%) as well as mitigation of COVID-19 pandemic (95.4%). The multivariate logistic regression that was performed for the total sample revealed that the following variables were significantly associated with an increased probability to get vaccinated against COVID-19 being a physician, a member of the nursing personnel, paramedical staff, working in Greece, age, the belief that influenza vaccination should be mandatory for HCP, and the rating of the overall management of COVID-19 pandemic in the country and from the public hospitals. Physicians were more likely to get vaccinated against COVID-19 than other HCP. The age was a predictor of COVID-19 uptake intention in the Republic of Cyprus. The belief that there was a successful management of the COVID-19 pandemic contributed to the intention to COVID-19 vaccination uptake.A Pulsed Electrical Field (PEF) reactor was developed to process biological sludge as a pretreatment method prior to anaerobic digestion. This study focuses on the effects of operational parameters such as applied voltage, pH, conductivity, flow-rate, and temperature affecting the treatment of waste active sludge (WAS) by PEF, the simulation of reactor process conditions and anaerobic biodegradation of PEF pretreated sludge. PF-06650833 price The effects of the sludge conductivity, flow-rate, and temperature on the Soluble Chemical Oxygen Demand (SCOD) of WAS treated by PEF reactor were investigated by using a Box-Wilson statistical experiment design. Simulations of the PEF process conditions were performed to verify experimental results. After PEF optimization study, the PEF operational conditions for maximum SCOD were obtained at 4 mS/cm conductivity, 5 mL/min flow-rate, and 40 °C temperature during PEF treatment. The measured and predicted SCOD showed a good consistency (R2 = 0.92). After it was pretreated by the PEF, the SCOD, total nitrogen, total phosphorus, polysaccharide and protein contents of WAS increased. However filterability property also decreased. In the anaerobic digestion study, the reactor fed with the PEF pretreated WAS provided 1.70 times higher methane production compared with raw sludge. In addition to this situation, 18% and 19% improvements, respectively, were observed in SCOD and VSS reductions when it was compared with raw sludge in the 23 days of anaerobic operation. Sixteen percent decrease in CST showed that the PEF enhanced the filterability of WAS during the anaerobic stabilization.
Occupational injury is any personal injury, disease or death resulting from an occupational accident sustained on worker in connection with the performance of his or her work. Studies conducted in Ethiopia indicated variable findings ranging from 30% to 84.7% prevalence of occupational injury among construction workers. Therefore, the main aim of this systematic and meta-analysis was to pool the estimates and find the reasons for variability of the findings.

Stata v14 (StataCorp, College Station, Texas, USA) was used for meta-analysis. Publication bias was assessed by the funnel plot and more objectively by Egger's regression test. I-squared statistics was used to check the heterogeneity of the studies.
This research searched a total of, 1241articles, from these articles 1189 from PubMed, 21 froupational injury among construction workers. Supply and use of PPE, provision of occupational safety training and regular supervision of workers has to be in place in order to reduce or remove occupational injury among construction workers in Ethiopia.

Per- and polyfluoroalkyls (PFAS) are found in our environment and general populations. Recent experimental mixture toxicity studies of perfluorooctane sulfonic acid (PFOS) and perfluorooctanoic acid (PFOA) and an assessment of 17 PFAS indicate the use of additivity for their joint toxicity assessment. The aim of this investigation was to detail the stepwise procedures and examine the extent and use of the HI approach for PFAS mixture assessment. Using estimated general public lifetime exposures (high, medium, and low), binary mixtures of PFOS and PFOA yielded, respectively, hazard indices (HIs) of 30.67, 8.33, and 3.63 for developmental toxicity; 10.67, 5.04, and 2.34 for immunological toxicity; 3.57, 1.68, and 0.78 for endocrine toxicity; 4.51, 1.73, and 0.79 for hepatic toxicity; and 15.08, 2.29, and 0.88 for reproductive toxicity. A heterogeneous mixture of PFOA, PFAS, dioxin (CDD), and polybrominated compounds (PBDE) for high exposure scenario yielded HIs of 30.99 for developmental, 10.77 for immunological, 3.64 for endocrine, 4.61 for hepatic, and 17.36 for reproductive effects. The HI values are used as a screening tool; the potential concern for exposures rises as HI values increase. For HI values >1, a follow-up including further analysis of specific exposures, use of internal dosimetry, and uncertainty factors is conducted before recommending appropriate actions.
