Little research has been done in an attempt to understand inmate-on-inmate victimization within the juvenile correctional facilities in Ghana. This study, therefore, investigated the extent to which peer victimization influences psychological distress among juvenile offenders in the Senior Correctional Center of Ghana. A cross-sectional design was used to purposively sample 115 juvenile offenders for the study. Following mediation analysis performed in PROCESS, the results revealed that prison climate and resilience serially mediated the relationship between peer victimization and psychological distress. Independently, both prison climate and resilience mediated the relationship between peer victimization and psychological distress. It was recommended that anti-bullying programs ought to be institutionalized to create mental health awareness within the correctional facilities. Also, support systems such as the Listener Scheme need to be deployed within the correctional facilities.

Women who exchange sex (WES) experience extensive interpersonal violence from multiple perpetrators. Violence towards WES contributes to poor mental and behavioral health outcomes, including high rates of drug use. However, it is difficult to disentangle the temporal relationship between drug use and violence among WES.

We used data from 251 WES, who completed baseline and 6-month follow up surveys. WES reported baseline sociodemographic characteristics, including homelessness and hunger. Participants reported their drug use by type and violent experiences by perpetrator at each time point. We conducted a path analysis examining the associations between drug use and violent victimization over time.

Participants were on average 37.8 years old, non-Hispanic White (57.4%) and experiencing high levels of structural vulnerability (59.4% homelessness; 58.6% weekly hunger). Drug use and violence were significantly correlated within each time point. Prospectively, baseline violent victimization was significantly associated with drug use (ß (SE)=0.13 (0.06)) and violence (ß (SE)=0.47 (0.05)) at follow up. Baseline drug use was associated with drug use at follow up (ß (SE)=0.45 (0.05)) but was not significantly associated with violence at follow up (ß (SE)=0.10 (0.06)).

Vaccinating healthcare workers (HCWs) against COVID-19 has been a public health priority since rollout began in late 2020. Promoting COVID-19 vaccination among HCWs would benefit from identifying modifiable behavioural determinants. We sought to identify and categorize studies looking at COVID-19 vaccination acceptance to identify modifiable factors to increase uptake in HCWs.

Rapid evidence review.

We searched MEDLINE and Cochrane databases until May 2021 and conducted a grey literature search to identify cross-sectional, cohort, and qualitative studies. Key barriers to, and enablers of, vaccine acceptance were categorized using the Theoretical Domains Framework (TDF), a comprehensive theoretical framework comprising 14 behavioural domains.

From 19,591 records, 74 studies were included. Almost two-thirds of responding HCWs were willing to accept a COVID-19 vaccine (median=64%, interquartile range=50-78%). This case series aims to highlight the clinical course of pediatric patients at a single tertiary pediatric hospital with concurrent complicated bacterial rhinosinusitis and COVID-19.

A search of pediatric patients treated for COVID-19 and complications from acute sinusitis was performed using billing records for the year 2020-2021 at a single pediatric tertiary hospital. Data regarding presentation, management, microbiology, and hospital course was collected for review.
