Molecular structural modifications are utilized to improve the short-circuit current (JSC ) of high-voltage organic photovoltaics (OPVs). Herein, the classic non-fullerene acceptor (NFA), BTA3, is chosen as a benchmark, with BTA3b containing the linear alkyl chains on the middle core and JC14 fusing thiophene on the benzotriazole (BTA) unit as a contrast. The photovoltaic devices based on J52-F BTA3b and J52-F JC14 achieve wider external quantum efficiency responses with band edges of 730 and 800 nm, respectively than that of the device based on J52-F BTA3 (715 nm). The corresponding JSC increases to 14.08 and 15.78 mA cm-2 , respectively, compared to BTA3 (11.56 mA cm-2 ). The smaller Urbach energy and higher electroluminescence efficiency guarantee J52-F JC14 a decreased energy loss (0.528 eV) and a high open-circuit voltage (VOC ) of 1.07 V. Finally, J52-F JC14 combination achieves an increased power conversion efficiency (PCE) of 10.33% than that of J52-F BTA3b (PCE = 9.81%) and J52-F BTA3 (PCE = 9.04%). Overall, the research results indicate that subtle structure modification of NFAs, especially introducing fused rings, is a simple and effective strategy to extend the photoelectric response, boosting the JSC and ensuring a high VOC beyond 1.0 V.

To investigate whether maternal common mental disorders (CMD) in the postnatal period are prospectively associated with child development at 2.5 and 3.5years in a rural low-income African setting.

This study was nested within the C-MaMiE (Child outcomes in relation to Maternal Mental health in Ethiopia) population-based cohort in Butajira, Ethiopia, and conducted from 2005 to 2006. The sample comprised of 496 women who had recently given birth to living, singleton babies with recorded birth weight measurements, who were 15 to 44years of age, and residing in six rural sub-districts. Postnatal CMD measurements were ascertained 2months after delivery. Language, cognitive, and motor development were obtained from the child 2.5 and 3.5years after birth using a locally adapted version of the Bayley Scales of Infant Development (3rd Ed). Maternal CMD symptoms were measured using a locally validated WHO Self-Reporting Questionnaire. A linear mixed-effects regression model was used to analyze the relationship betwrom this study. The risk and protective factors for child development may differ in areas characterized by high social adversity and food insecurity. More studies are needed to investigate maternal CMD's impact on child development in low-resource and rural areas.

The literature on paediatric mycosis fungoides (MF) and especially its folliculotropic variant (FMF) is sparse.

To describe the clinical manifestations, treatments, outcomes and long-term course of paediatric MF, including FMF.

A retrospective analysis was conducted of all consecutive MF patients diagnosed at ≤18 years attending two medical centres in 1995-2015.

The cohort included 71 patients, all but two of whom had early-stage disease hypopigmented (55%), folliculotropic (42%) and classical MF (39%), alone or in combination. The head and neck area were involved in 43% of patients with early-stage FMF compared to 12% of the non-FMF group (P = 0.004). There was no difference in the involvement of other body areas between the groups. Pruritus, although mild, was more often recorded among patients with early-stage FMF compared to non-FMF (58% vs. 29%, respectively, P = 0.02). Complete response (CR) was achieved in 60 of the 69 patients with early-stage MF (87%) after an average of 1.8 treatment modalityield good response rates in non-FMF and FMF patients, respectively. Disease course is indolent, and even on relatively long follow-up, it has a very low progression rate from early to advanced-stage disease, occurring in patients with FMF. We propose a treatment algorithm for paediatric MF.

Assess whether sodium hypochlorite (NaOCl) or chlorhexidine (CHX) and two irrigation protocols may alter the antibacterial properties of dentine and three endodontic sealers using a novel ex vivo tooth model.

Prior to antibacterial testing, the tooth model was validated by means of scanning electron microscopy (SEM) to evaluate the separation between dentine and sealer surfaces. Root blocks prepared from extracted human roots were pre-treated with 17% EDTA+0.9% saline and subsequently treated with 1% NaOCl (G1), 2% CHX (G2) or no irrigant (G3). Two irrigation protocols were further investigated, "1% NaOCl+17% EDTA" (P1) and "1% NaOCl+17% EDTA+2% CHX" (P2). Following irrigation, the root blocks were either filled with AH Plus, BioRoot RCS and Pulp Canal Sealer (PCS), or left empty. All groups were incubated for 1, 7 and 28days. Direct contact tests for planktonic E.faecalis and 48h E.faecalis biofilms were performed at the level of dentine and sealer surfaces. Statistical analysis was performed on the bactacterial activity upon both sealer and dentine surfaces. Amongst sealers, BioRoot RCS was less affected by NaOCl and CHX, and exhibited high antibacterial properties regardless the irrigation applied.

By combining a responsive polymer with an autonomous pH regulator, the polymer brushes self-regulate their swelling and deswelling process with tunable lifetimes. By using patterned copolymer brushes with pH-responsive fluorescence moiety, an autonomous fluorescence modulator is created that self-regulates its fluorescence in spatiotemporally programmable fashion driven by a chemical or an enzymatic reaction. Furthermore, a self-regulated wettability switcher of polymer brushes both in air and in an aqueous solution is implemented. The methodology and results in the work provide a useful avenue into the exploration of nonequilibrium synthetic materials with programmable functions and would accelerate the transformative developments of nonequilibrium materials and systems in practical applications.

Benzyl alcohol is a widely used preservative, solvent and fragrance material. According to published data, it is a rare sensitizer in humans.

Retrospective analysis of data from the Information Network of Departments of Dermatology (IVDK), 2010-2019.

Of 70 867 patients patch tested with benzyl alcohol 1% pet., 146 (0.21%) showed a positive reaction, most of them (89%) only weakly positive. The number of doubtful and irritant reactions significantly exceeded the number of positive reactions. Reproducibility of positive test reactions was low. Among benzyl alcohol-positive patients, compared to benzyl alcohol-negative patients, there were significantly more patients with leg dermatitis (17.8% vs. 8.6%), more patients aged 40 years or more (81.5% vs. 70.5%) and more patients who were tested because of a suspected intolerance reaction to topical medications (34.9% vs. 16.6%). Concomitant positive reactions were mainly seen to fragrances, preservatives and ointment bases.

The most studied probiotics belong to the genus Lactobacillus. In this study, 80 Lactobacillus spp. isolated from healthy women tolerated low pH and were able to grow in the presence of bile salts. RAPD PCR technique resulted in the identification of 38 different types. These isolates were then evaluated based on adhesion capacity, antibiotic susceptibility and tolerance in simulated gastrointestinal tract. Species-specific PCR and detection of bacteriocin-related genes were also surveyed. Among the isolates, five strains-Lacticaseibacillus rhamnosus NO21, Lacticaseibacillus casei NO1, Lactiplantibacillus plantarum NO4, Lactobacillus acidophilus NO7 and Lactobacillus gasseri NO38-presented acceptable antibiotic susceptibility pattern. Further analysis showed antimicrobial activity of Lacticaseibacillus culture against various bacterial pathogens and real-time PCR showed all five strains were able to prevent the colonization of bacterial pathogens. All five selected strains produced organic acids, hydrogen peroxide and were resistant to the spermicide. In addition, they lacked haemolytic activity with the ability of hydrophobicity, auto-aggregation and co-aggregation with pathogens. These results suggest that the vaginal microbiome could be a good source for the isolation of probiotics and the strains of this study may be considered as good probiotic candidates.The present study aims to describe accelerometer-assessed physical activity (PA) patterns and fulfillment of PA recommendations in a large sample of middle-aged men and women, and to study differences between subgroups of socio-demographic, socio-economic, and lifestyle-related variables. A total of 27 890 (92.5% of total participants, 52% women, aged 50-64 years) middle-aged men and women with at least four days of valid hip-worn accelerometer data (Actigraph GT3X+, wGT3X+ and wGT3X-BT) from the Swedish CArdioPulmonary bioImage Study, SCAPIS, were included. In total, 54.5% of daily wear time was spent sedentary, 39.1% in low, 5.4% in moderate, and only 0.1% in vigorous PA. Male sex, higher education, low financial strain, born in Sweden, and sedentary/light working situation were related to higher sedentary time, but also higher levels of vigorous PA. High BMI and having multiple chronic diseases associated strongly with higher sedentary time and less time in all three PA intensities. OSMI-1 All-year physically active commuters had an overall more active PA pattern. The proportion fulfilling current PA recommendations varied substantially (1.4% to 92.2%) depending on data handling procedures and definition used. Twenty-eight percent was defined as having an "at-risk" behavior, which included both high sedentary time and low vigorous PA. In this large population-based sample, a majority of time was spent sedentary and only a fraction in vigorous PA, with clinically important variations between subgroups. This study provides important reference material and emphasizes the importance of a comprehensive assessment of all aspects of the individual PA pattern in future research and clinical practice.
