The aim of the present study was to determine the relationships between the characteristics of the MB and ramus interventricularis paraconalis at three levels in lambs and adult sheep. Thirty-three hearts (16 lambs and 17 sheep) were used to determine the MB (length, angle and thickness) and vessel (vessel diameter and thicknesses of tunica intima et media of ramus interventricularis paraconalis) characteristics. Independent-samples t test was applied to compare variables between lambs and sheep. Spearman's correlation analysis was conducted to evaluate the relationships between bridge and vessel characteristics at three bridge levels. Length, angle and thickness of myocardial bridges were not significantly different between the lambs and sheep (p > .05). The mean length, angle and thickness were 24.9 ± 16.1 mm, 113.7 ± 11.2° and 1,098 ± 555 µm in 33 hearts, respectively. In lambs, the mean vessel diameters were 1,930 ± 742 µm (1,534-2,325 µm), 1,247 ± 665 µm (893-1,601 µm) and 865 ± 172 µm (774-957 µm) at the pre-bridge, bridge and post-bridge levels, respectively. In sheep, the mean vessel diameters in the same order were 1,861 ± 1,068 µm, 1,337 ± 308 µm and 1,287 ± 549 µm. The bridge prevalence was 100% in the samples examined. In conclusion, coronary arterial diseases related to myocardial bridge should not be expected in sheep for veterinary cardiology practice. It may also be concluded that the cross-breeds of the Awassi and Chios sheep may be useful in experimental studies related to myocardial bridge surgery.The aim of this study was to estimate the genetic parameters for the morphometric measurements of withers height (WH), thoracic circumference (TC) and cannon bone circumference (CBC) of Criollo horses, stratified for maternal and paternal effects. Statistical genetic design of factor crossings was used to evaluate the offspring of full siblings and half-siblings. WH in females and TC in males were highly influenced by additive genetic effects, while the other morphometric measures were found to be closely related to the general effects of the environment. WH had the greatest additive genetic influence on female offspring (47.06%), while TC presented the greatest additive genetic influence on male offspring (58.73%). When comparing the parental influence on the morphometric characteristics evaluated, TC and CBC had greater additive genetic influence from maternal effects, regardless of offspring sex. However, the WH in female offspring showed greater maternal additive genetic contribution, while in males this characteristic presented greater paternal additive genetic influence. For WH in male offspring, narrow sense heritability ( h r 2 0.26) was more influenced by paternal effects, while for WH in females ( h r 2 0.47), TC in females ( h r 2 0.08) and males ( h r 2 0.59), and CBC in females ( h r 2 0.07) and males ( h r 2 0.05) the maternal effects were the most important. Therefore, the phenotypic expression of WH in males and females and TC in males is influenced by the additive genetic effect of the genes. On the other hand, the TC in female progenies and CBC in progenies of both sexes are closely related to the effects of the environment. The results obtained in this study could be useful in the selection process of Criollo horses.
Academic distress is a leading cause of attrition among nursing students. The present study tested a positive psychology-oriented model detailing the potential links between nursing students' (a) psychological resilience; (b) depressive symptoms; (c) intrapersonal well-being; (d) interpersonal well-being; and (e) academic distress. Additionally, we tested whether the academic benefits of resilience were conditional upon nursing students' perceptions of their campus climate as supportive of mental health and well-being.
A correlational, cross-sectional design was employed.
Nursing students (N=933) were selected from the national 2017-2018 Healthy Minds Study (HMS). Students completed measures of resilience, depressive symptoms, intrapersonal well-being (flourishing), interpersonal well-being (belonging), and academic distress.
Conditional process modelling tested depression, belonging, and flourishing as mediators of the associations between resilience and academic distress variables. Furthermore, perceptions of campus climate were included as potential moderators of these mediation effects. Results indicated that the protective academic benefits of resilience were primarily explained by decreases in depression but that this effect was strongest for nursing students with negative perceptions of their campus climate.
Findings highlight the psychological and academic benefits of greater resilience and the moderated mediation results suggest that such benefits were conditional on the broader campus climate.
Nurse educators and policymakers should consider addressing contextual factors, such as campus climate, in addition to resilience training in their efforts to reduce the negative academic impacts of mental health problems and stress in nursing school.

Calf circumference (CC) is an anthropometric parameter that is easily obtained. Increasingly, research has shown that CC related to cardiovascular events. We aimed to determine the correlation between CC and Framingham risk score (FRS) for the 10-year cardiovascular disease risk assessment in Taiwanese elderly aged ≥65 years.
We included 540 men and 683 women aged ≥65 years. All participants and data were collected from geriatric physical screenings in Tri-Service General Hospital in Taiwan during 2017. The correlation between CC and FRS-coronary heart disease (CHD) were calculated. We used multivariate regression models to investigate the correlation between CC and FRS-CHD. Covariate adjustments were investigated by performing an extended model.
A significantly negative association was observed between FRS-CHD and CC in both genders in both models (all P < 0.05). link3 Male and female participants were divided into quartiles at the CC level (Q1-Q4) and we compared their baseline characteristics separately. We further explored the association between CC divided in quartiles and the FRS-CHD, which exhibited a significant negative correlation comparing the largest quartiles with the first quartile in a fully adjusted model in both genders (P < 0.05). In addition, the higher quartiles of CC seemed to have a lower FRS-CHD with statistical significance (P for trend <0.05).

In the past decade, research-focused efforts in preclinical and experimental models have rallied around this idea, and considerable effort has been made to delineate critical neuroinflammatory processes. In this article, we discuss challenges in preclinical research, notably the use of animal models to recapitulate and dissect disease phenotypes as well as the need for more sensitive, reliable radiotracers to detect on-target efficacy of immunomodulatory treatments in both human Parkinson's disease as well as preclinical models. © 2020 International Parkinson and Movement Disorder Society.
To explore experiences of peer support among parents of children with congenital heart defects.
A study analysing written responses to open-ended questions about peer support, collected via an online survey distributed in Sweden.
Respondents were recruited during 3months in 2018 by means of convenience sampling, through ads via the Swedish foundation for families with children who have heart defects and two closed Facebook groups for peer support. An online survey containing open-ended questions was distributed and responses were analysed with systematic text condensation.
Peer support was grounded in a mutual understanding among parents and involved highly appreciated emotional support. Listening to the stories of peers meant an opportunity to gain useful insights about what life is like for parents of children with heart defects. Receiving and providing peer support was described as rewarding on a personal level. Negative aspects of peer support were also described, which sometimes led to psychologis attention to the experienced benefits related to peer support activities, while also providing some insights regarding potential negative aspects. The findings have relevance for nurses, midwives, and other health professionals working in settings providing care for these families.
To identify indicators of nursing care performance by identifying structures, processes, and outcomes that are relevant, feasible and have the potential for benchmarking in Swiss acute hospitals.
A modified Delphi-Consensus Technique.
We examined 19 indicators based on the current evidence and that were pre-selected by nursing scientists. Between August-October 2019, a consortium of experts (representatives of different cantons, hospitals, and healthcare roles in Switzerland) determined the relevance, feasibility, and suitability for benchmarking these indicators in two-round modus of digital survey. Consensus was defined a priori by at least 75% agreement on the highest level of a 3-point Likert-type scale.
The response rate was 70.4% in the first and 68.4% in the second round. In round one consensus was reached for three indicators on relevance but for none of the indicators regarding feasibility or potential for benchmarking. For round two, the experts suggested two additional indicators (new total of 21 indicators).
