The results of MetsBST and the commercial software aBSI were highly consistent. MetsBST introduces novel clinical utility by its ability to differentiate between the responses of different bone metastases to multimodality therapies.
MetsBST reduces the variability in assessment of tumour burden caused by subjective interpretation. Therefore, it is a useful aid to physicians reporting nuclear medicine scans, and may improve decision-making in the treatment of metastatic prostate cancer.

Metabolic syndrome (MetS) in men is a common problem. Several studies highlight that testosterone deficiency is associated with metabolic disorders that may be explained by "myokines". Irisin is an adipo-myokine that has beneficial metabolic effects.
To evaluate serum testosterone in a sample of Egyptian men with MetS diagnosed by NCEP ATP III, and correlate it with serum irisin level.
A total of 90 men (60 with MetS and 30 healthy age-matched controls) participated in the study. Testosterone level is estimated by an automated system, Irisin level was measured by ELISA.
Circulating irisin was positively correlated with serum testosterone and was significantly lower in patients with MetS.
This study highlights the effect of serum testosterone on irisin formation from skeletal muscle. Recommendations
treatments of MetS may include testosterone supplementation. Further studies are needed to elucidate this association.

Children with refractory focal to bilateral tonic-clonic seizures, despite normal high-resolution imaging, are often not subjected to genetic tests due to the costs involved and instead undergo multimodality presurgical evaluation targeted at delineating a focal onset. The objective of this study was to ascertain genotype-phenotype correlations in this group of patients.
An online hospital database search was conducted for children who presented in 2019 with drug-resistant epilepsy dominated by nonlateralizing focal-onset/rapid generalized (bilateral) tonic-clonic seizures (GTCS), subjected to presurgical evaluation and subsequent genetic testing due to absence of a clear focus hypothesis.
Phenotypic homogeneity was apparent in 3 children who had onset in infancy with drug-resistant GTCS (predominantly unprovoked and occasionally fever provoked) and subsequent delayed development. 3-Tesla magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) scans were negative and video EEG documented a homogeneous pattern of multifocal anresistant "generalized" epilepsy are likely to have a genetic basis although the presentation may not be typical of Dravet syndrome. Hence, genetic testing for SCN1A variants is recommended in children with drug-resistant MRI negative focal-onset/generalized-onset bilateral tonic-clonic seizures before subjecting them to exhaustive presurgical workup and to guide appropriate treatment and prognostication.
Musculoskeletal pain is a common and debilitating condition for cancer patients. Existing therapies for these pain conditions have substantial limitations. To identify an integrative approach to pain management, we conducted a systematic review to evaluate the safety and efficacy of a Tibetan herbal-based topical agent, CheeZheng Pain Relieving Plaster (PRP), for the treatment of osteoarthritis (OA) pain.
We extracted citations from PubMed and Chinese databases (CNKI, WanFang Data, and CQVIP). We included randomized clinical trials evaluating the effectiveness and safety of CheeZheng PRP compared to conventional OA pain treatments.
Twenty-two randomized clinical trials (n = 2556 participants) compared CheeZheng PRP against nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (11), glucosamine (2), intraarticular corticosteroid (2), hyaluronic acid injections (6), and acetaminophen (1). Ten studies found a statistically greater effectiveness (assessed by ≥30% reduction in symptom severity) of CheeZheng PRP in improving eZheng PRP for pain management in oncology settings.Biofilms are the universal lifestyle of bacteria enclosed in extracellular polymeric substances (EPS) on the contact surfaces of food processing facilities. The EPS-encapsulated foodborne bacterial pathogens are the main food contaminant sources, posing a serious threat to human health. The microcrystalline, sophisticated and dynamic biofilms necessitate the development of conventional microscopic imaging and spectral technology. BMH-21 in vivo Nanosensors, which can transfer the biochemical information into optical signals, have recently emerged for biofilm optical detection with high sensitivity and high spatial resolution at nanoscale scopes. Therefore, the aim of this review is to clarify the main detection scope in biofilms and the detection principles of optical nanosensors arousing Raman enhancement, fluoresce conversion and color change. The difficulties and challenges of biofilm characterization including the secretion and variation of main biochemical components are first discussed, the details about the principles and application examples of bioassays targeting foodborne pathogens based on optical nanosensors are then summarized. Finally, the challenges and future trends in developing optical nanosensors are also highlighted. The current review indicates that optical nanosensors have taken the challenges of detecting biofilm in complex food samples, including the characterization of biofilm formation mechanism, identification of microbial metabolic activities, diagnosis of potential food pathogens and sanitation monitoring of food processing equipment. Numerous in-depth explorations and various trials have proven that the bioassays based on multifunctional optical nanosensors are promising to ensure and promote food safety and quality. However, there still remains a daunting challenge to structure reproducible, biocompatible and applicable nano-sensors for biofilm characterization, identification, and imaging.
