We retrospectively investigated if robot-assisted laparoscopic partial nephrectomy (RAPN) contributes to a decrease in resected parenchymal volume (RPV), an increase in postoperative parenchymal volume (PPV), and an improvement of postoperative renal function when compared with conventional laparoscopic partial nephrectomy (LPN) using a three-dimensional image analysis system.

Patients who underwent LPN (n=37) and RAPN (n=66) from November 2013 to November 2018 were included in this study. All patients had a tumor diameter of 4cm or less. Patients with an anatomical or functional single kidney were excluded. RPV and PPV were measured using SYNAPSE VINCENT®. The surgical outcomes were compared between the two groups.

Warm ischemic time in the RAPN group was significantly shorter than that in the LPN group (p < 0.001). The ratio of RPV to tumor volume (RPV/TV) in the RAPN group was significantly lower than that in the LPN group (p = 0.016). PPV in the RAPN group was significantly higher than that in the LPN group (p = 0.049). The decreased estimated glomerular filtration rate in the RAPN group was significantly lower than that in the LPN group on days 1, 7, 30, 90, and 180 after surgery.

Postoperative renal function in the RAPN group was significantly better than that in the LPN group in both the short and long term. In addition to a short warm ischemia time, the decreased RPV/TV and increased PPV may have contributed to the improvement of postoperative renal function.

We identified coregulated methylation and expression modules and the relationships between epigenetic modifications, tumor progression, and the corresponding immune microenvironment in PCa. Our results show that DNA methyltransferases (DNMTs) are strongly associated with pathologic phenotypes and immune infiltration patterns in PCa. We built a two-factor predictive model using the expression features of DNMT3B and DNMT1. The model was used to predict the BCR status of patients with PCa and achieved area under the receiver operating characteristic curve values of 0.70 and 0.88 in the training and independent testing datasets, respectively.

Rice (Oryza spp) is one of the most consumed cereals in the Republic of Benin. However, rice production is threatened by various pests, which lead to important yield losses. For the development of integrated management strategies responding to the farmers' realities, it is important to document their perceptions, knowledge, and management of rice pests. Surveys involving 418 rice farmers to 21 ethnic groups through 39 villages were performed using rural appraisal tools.

The consumption of sugar-sweetened beverages (SSBs) is associated with weight gain in both children and adults. In addition to environmental factors, such as food availability, psychological variables, including mood states, also impact intake. In the current study, we focus on momentary associations between feelings of loneliness and craving for SSBs among adolescents and explore the moderating role of family functioning. Loneliness has been associated with a wide range of health outcomes, but to date, few studies have examined its association with cravings for SSBs.

Using an ecological-momentary assessment design, data were collected on 158 (males=68, mean age=15.13 ± 2.27 years) participants. Multilevel mixed-effects models were used to examine the relations between the main and interactive effects of loneliness and family functioning on cravings for SSBs, independent of other negative emotions.

Results suggest that loneliness in adolescents was associated with a small increase in craving for SSBs. Importantly, the relationship held after controlling for negative emotions, suggesting the unique role of loneliness. However, positive family functioning did not mitigate the relations between loneliness and craving for SSBs.

The findings of this study indicated that high PRR34-AS1 expression was bound up with shorter overall survival (OS) in AML patients (p = 0.002). Moreover, patients with high expression of PRR34-AS1 had significantly lower complete remission (CR) rate compared with those with low expression of PRR34-AS1 after induction chemotherapy. Furthermore, multivariate analysis confirmed that PRR34-AS1 expression was an independent factor affecting CR in whole-AML, non-APL-AML, and CN-AML patients (p = 0.032, 0.039, and 0.036, respectively). Methylation-specific PCR (MSP) and bisulfite sequencing PCR (BSP) were used to explore the methylation status of PRR34-AS1.
