In Experiment 2 (N = 48), we examined a Stroop-like face-name interference effect as a measure of distractor interference control, and the sequential congruency effect ("conflict adaptation effect") as a measure of conflict-triggered adaptation of cognitive control. In both experiments, the measures were assessed in two sessions on the same day, separated by a 10 min-long unrelated filler task. We observed substantial experimental effects with medium to large effect sizes. Retest reliability of the Stroop-like effect was improved when considering only trials preceded by congruent trials. Together, the data suggest that these cognitive control measures are well suited for assessing group-level effects of cognitive control. Myasthenia gravis is an autoimmune disorder affecting neuromuscular transmission, and its hallmark is fluctuating muscular weakness affecting the ocular, bulbar, respiratory, or limb muscles. Our objective is to highlight the difficulties encountered in diagnosing this disorder in patients lacking this characteristic phenomenon.

Three cases of patients presenting with progressive weakness of bulbar and ocular muscles, in whom a lack of fluctuation delayed the diagnosis of myasthenia gravis, are described.

Based on two acoustic principles, we predict a decrease in consonance at low frequencies (roughness) and a decrease of consonance at high frequencies (sharpness). Due to these two separate principles, we hypothesize that frequency will have a curvilinear impact on consonance. A selection of tetrads varying in consonance were presented in seven registers spanning 30 to 2600 Hz. Fifty-five participants rated the stimuli in an online experiment. In this regard, we investigated the ability of recurrent neural networks (RNN) as a supportive approach for retrieving daily river flow data for some stations, namely, Akçaşehir and Dağgüney located on the Susurluk basin in Bursa, Turkey. To meet the study goal, flow records from nearby stations were collected. In addition, a RNN with two hidden layers was developed. Initially, the model was trained and validated; then, we tried to predict missing records. The findings showed the potential of RNN in providing good predictions during low and mid flows with acceptable uncertainties rate (less than 30%) even with limited number of input data. Moreover, we discussed the current challenges and opportunities of this issue in remote areas of Turkey. Overall, our findings suggested that RNN may be considered as a practical method to predict the likely periods of floods and droughts in remote areas and interpolate missing records instead of using classical approaches.The editorial independence of biomedical journals allows flexibility to meet a wide range of research interests. However, it also is a barrier for coordination between journals to solve challenging issues such as racial bias in the scientific literature. A standardized tool to screen for racial bias could prevent the publication of racially biased papers. Biomedical journals would maintain editorial autonomy while still allowing comparable data to be collected and analyzed across journals. A racially diverse research team carried out a three-phase study to generate and test a racial bias assessment tool for biomedical research. Phase 1, an in-depth, structured literature search to identify recommendations, found near complete agreement in the literature on addressing race in biomedical research. Phase 2, construction of a framework from those recommendations, provides the major innovation of this paper. The framework includes three dimensions of race 1) context, 2) tone and terminology, and 3) analysis, which are the basis for the Race Equity Vetting Instrument for Editorial Workflow (REVIEW) tool. Phase 3, pilot testing the assessment tool, showed that the REVIEW tool was effective at flagging multiple concerns in widely criticized articles. However, a review on the use of tactile stimulation in vection research appears to be missing from literature. The purpose of this review was to evaluate the current methodologies, and outcomes, of tactile stimulation in vection research. We searched for articles through EBSCOHost, Scopus and Web of Science. Studies were included only if they detailed an experiment on the effect of tactile stimulation on vection. Twenty-four studies were obtained and distilled in tabular form. Eighteen studies contained sufficient information to be included in a meta-analysis.
